I present in this video the two Guitar parts of Under My Thumb / I'm Free which appears on the Live Album "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" (1970), available on the 40th Anniversary version released in 2009.

Ohhhh ! I didn't realize they went right into I'm Free ! That was awesome ! I've never heard the Taylor part so clearly before. It was so unusual . Great stuff, man. I love the way the Stones did every cut in Ya ya's making it sound as if it was just one guitar . They worked together so tightly .

Right around 5:45 Taylor plays a bunch of what I call "wrong notes", which I love and find so exciting. I love discordance sometimes. What kind of scale (if that's what it is) is he playing ??? Please let me know what the heck that is .

What he uses is A mixolydian scale.
A.B.C#.D.E.F#.G.
He starts from the F# minor pentatonic scale in vertical position,
(between frets 2 and 5)
He slides on the G string to go to the A mixolydian scale,
(between frets 5 and 9),
and the licks you are talking about are sweeping effects based on the arpeggios from this scale (here, a Em7 arpeggio linked with a Bm7 arpeggio).
