If you did not know nothing about Serbia, it s your problem and it does not mean that other Russian citizens do not know. When I explains former Yugoslavia, now Serbia, everyone knows very well about Belgrade and Serbia. So, it was just you and your "knowledge"....have a nice stay in Belgrade. Kad im kažem bivša Jugoslavija, Beograd, a sada Srbija, svi vrlo dobro znaju ko smo i šta smo....
@@r2d2-gj3jo, she didn't say that Serbians are not brothers. Quite the contrary. The author is definitely quite fond of Serbians. And I am as well. What was mentioned is the fact that it was not widely known before the Russo-Ukrainian war that the Serbs actually support Russians. Out of like, say, 300 people I communicated with in Russia in my home city, there was something like 2 who said "Ah, Serbia! A brother Nation". And, fck, most of them are not liberals! We don't have much of that stuff in Russia. I think it is a great fail from the Russian government that they didn't make this information widespread (among many other things). That's just the fact. And author notes this fact. And it's really sad. Not knowing you have a brother somewhere is truly sad.
We bothgreek and serbs have more common and respect each other..we are not Slavic but 1000 years are involved our countrys during history, wars, religion, corfy, byzantium, sport etc..here in greece majority love and respect Serbia
Is there any reason that some Greeks would have anything against Serbs? I only visited Greece once around 2009 (Athens, near Omonia square) and had a weird experience: a friend and me entered a small shop, and the lady working there was nice at first, but then asked where we're from. We said Serbia and she immediately became kinda scared and said 'Ah, sorry, I have to close for now, sorry' effectively shoing us out of there...we were confused but said ok and left. The time was like 15:42 or 12:17 (no idea but I remember I checked the time and it wasn't anything round, didn't make sense to have to close immediately)...This is one occasion and I really didn't spend much time in Greece, especially talking to local people, so don't worry I don't have any conclusions based on that one bad interaction, maybe it was one in a million for some reason but was bit weird. Anyway glad to hear what you said here :)
Interestingly, there are many Serbians where I live. They work in hotels and restaurants mostly and are very sophisticated about food and wine. Very nice people. Would love to visit Serbia someday. Love your videos!
The reason why serbian people kiss, pat or hugg someones children without permission isn´t in anyway disrespectful but an old cultural heritage from the times of WW1 when serbian population decreased because of the austrian-hungarian genocide brought on Serbs and getting children was as a sign of restoring the nation so people were happy for seeing any children around.

I am a Serb, who lives in Moscow and what was shock for me is that Russian portions are extremely small. In restaurant, I always feel as cook steals half of my portion 😁 Also, have to add : Russians simply do not have such a sophisticated relationship with food. Food is not so important topic in Russian culture. For me it was cultural shock to see in the restaurant this kind of scene: two or three people are at the table and waiter brings food to one of them. He eats his food and rest of the people waiting 20 additional minutes for waiter to bring food to others. In other words they are not bringing food to all people at the table in the same time...and they do not see problem about it. That shows that Russian do not perceive meal as important part of socializing. On the other hand we live on Balkan which had so many different influences over centuries- Turkish, Hungarian, German etc. We also have partially Mediterranean mentality. Food is important for us. We discuss food. It is not possible to happen that waiter being portion to one person and that other one waits for his next 15 min...in Serbia that would be considered as rude. And guests would complain. Eating together is considered as social event and opportunity for bonding, friendship etc. Obviously in Russia is looked at more as...well just feeding time. For us it is different :)
Nah you’ve been in a bad restaurant that’s all :) in Russia restaurant business is trying to grow and improve. It is a horrible mistake to serve food only for one of 3 people I agree.
@@SailorNom I am living in Russia for 7 years now. Have been in many cities in Russia because of work- and I saw same problem with service in restaurants everywhere. It means that is default condition of service in Russia. But, you are right: it is getting better and better. Especially in the big cities owners started to understand how important is good service. It is true that is changing on better. :)
Typically it is asked, if meals are to be carried to the table as-they-cooked, or all together. You have a choice, depending on a situation. It might me that 1 guy is very hungry and orders something simple and fast to cook as a pre-meal - there's no point to wait in such case.
Serbs are a little crazy, first of all, a proud nation. in the last 100 years we have gone to war many, many times, serbia has been bombed 44 times. that's why we are strong, crazy, proud and above all independent.
Yes, but our understanding of freedom is different from that of most other European countries. Due to their turbulent history, Serbs understand freedom as freedom from a foreign occupier and not as freedom of a citizen. That is why Serbs put up with dictators and do not mind authoritarian rule. We tolerate and fear authorities.

Serbia (and this part of Europe) is like part of South America in Europe. We are loud, very friendly, we like to eat and drink, when we sing we sing from the bottom of the lungs. I hope you will visit Serbia one day, you will feel like at home.
As a Serb, yes we ARE NOT the same. We Serbs are much more simmilar to Greeks, Bulgarians, Romanians, Italians..etc.We are classic southern nation, with big Medditeranian and even eastern influence. There is too much geographical distance for us to be the same or simmilar. So, it is ok to be good with Russians, but not to be in love with them for no reason like Serbs making a mistake..
One more thing Serbs are always friendly to all foreigners not just Russians that is part of our culture but don’t think it will always stay like that , we are friendly as much you respect us and our country and culture if we see that you don’t respect our warm welcome, we can be extremely rude . We are proud people, we gave a lot to the world, maybe we are small and unknown to others but we have very rich history and culture, and greatest man in the world of course Nikola Tesla 😊is Serbian

Dear Ksenija, the first thing on your list is not correct from my experience. There is a lot of Russians on Montenegrin coast, and something that shocked me was how they behaved towards children. One guy took my 2 years old son to his beach chair and hugged him, and kept kissing and squeesing him tightly. I was really shocked and uncomfortable about it, but I taught that's different culture, maybe it's normal among Russians, so I stayed cool. I think that it is too early to judge Serbs after only one month of your stay. If you didn't heared of us, that's your prob, because we learned at elementary school about almost every world country and nation, their demographic and economy. Don't take this as bad critics, just noticing your wrong impressions. All the best and welcome to Serbia.

Hi Kseniya, Sounds like Serbia is a touch country, meaning they like to hug and kiss and shake hands, etc. America used to be like that but seems like it's less and less that way. American's seem like were in our own little bubbles now days. We're still friendly but it seems we got ourselves in such a damn hurry we have no time for even small talk with one another anymore. If you were shopping here in a store and had Daniel in the cart most people wouldn't even notice or pay any attention to you, maybe some older ladies might make a fuss over Daniel but most would just go about their business, oblivious to what's going on around them. When I was growing up, we used to know and visit with all our neighbors in the neighborhood, nowadays, we don't even know our neighbors names and we just wave to them if we see them outside. Sad really. I'm old school though, I will strike up conversations and love it when I meet a stranger and they take just a second to talk or at least exchange pleasantries. I think that's why there is a lot of infighting within' America nowadays, no one gets to know one another anymore, to see or even try to see other points of view. Sad. Well, when it comes to meat I think most folks around the world like their meat warm, so I think Serbians are in the minority there. We do eat "cold cuts" in America, usually as a sandwich, like a ham and cheese on rye with mustard or mayo, something like that. I think I would take a pass on cold, fat, greasy, pig meat though. I believe you are right when it comes to drinking in that no one comes close to Mother Russia. Every country has their share of drinkers, including America but Russia is well known as a country that consumes a lot of alcohol, especially Vodka. Maybe heavy drinking stems from the Soviet Union days, I don't know. Maybe it stems from being a depressed society? Maybe it's just tradition? It wouldn't surprise me that even more Russians have picked up or have increased their drinking since the events of February and I can't say as I can blame them. I'm glad that Serbians and Russians seem to get along so well. You seem happier and relaxed there. It makes me happy that you, Vlad and Daniel are together and away from the troubles of Russia. I'm sure you still feel much sadness for what's going on in your homeland and in Ukraine. Many around the world are sadden too. God, why can't we just have some peace? With love and much respect to you and the whole family, Steve from Ohio.
Hello! We in Serbia love cold meat but only from spit roasters as usually it needs several hours to prepare and you have to make an reservation for that, so it usually is served cold. But we also love hot meat, for example from grill like hamburgers (we call them pljeskavica) or cevapcici (internationally famous), or beef, or fried meet where we have Becka (Vienna) snicla or Karadjordjeva snicla (Karadjordje was leader of Serbian uprising against Ottoman tyrani in 19 century). Regarding drinking, northern Europeans, includin Russians, Poles, Finns, Swedes, or Irish and British people are more prone to drinking than southern Europeans, and even how and what they drink is different. In the European south we more appritiate enjoyment and drinks with more taste like rakija, uzo, mastika, metaxa, sangria, calvados, sambuca, grappa, campari,...while in the nort they drink mostly votka and whiskey.

I am Serbian from Croatia, and because of the war we had to go leave Croatia and we came to Serbia. Now I live in Germany and I have met a lot of German Russians and I find them very similar to us. However, with Russians and Ukrainians no good experience. I found them less friendly than Germans which is bloody hard. In my opinion Polish people are way more similar and like us more than the Eastern ones. And yes we grew up thinking Russians are our brothers, but never helped us 🫣
Without Russian protection what is known as modern serbian nation state would not exist in 19th century, serbian Crna Gora also, for that matter. They did favor serbian enemy that is Tatarian Bulgaria with german monarchs the most and that also is a fact. To their damage i would say, just like they were arming croatian militia's in the 1990s, we can all see how that returned to Russia with Ukraine. Russia should learn once and for all, that Serbs are frontline and foundation of their own identity, metaphysics, existence.
My biggest historic objection to Russia is their support for Uyghur Tatarian Bulgars. That also returned to them with Bulgaria being involved in Kerch bridge explosion.

When it comes to cold meat, I think that it's easier on a stomach to eat pork fat cold. And also in Serbia, especially before, you had roasted pig only on holidays and big occasions like slava, and here, as you know, we like it polako so the celebrations last at least a whole day and often couple of days and it's impossible to keep it warm for so long... When it comes to Russian relation to Serbia, you are kind of right, it definitely isn't at the same level but I know some people who worked in Russia and there are some similar stories, like taxi drivers in Moscow refusing to charge when they find out you are Serbia or free beers at a bar. When it comes to kids, it's probably amplified because you are in small town and your kid is known as "that russian kid". But I do remember that when I was little it wasn't surprising if someone bought me a chocolate or something like that while standing in line at the store. But that's more of a small towns and villages thing, I doubt it happens much in Belgrade. Ann when it comes to drinking. I can agree with meat… but we usually warm it up every time :) Yes, I know there are some situations when Russians are extremely kind to Serbians in Russia, but as you said, here in Serbia it’s on another level. Yes, probably it’s because of our little town and Russian Daniel hahaha But when we were in Belgrade, people still pated on his head, passing by 🤷🏻♀️😀 And Russians getting drunk for pleasure too!!!!! 😁😁😁
I am Serbian living in Russia for 10 years and I can tell you that I agree with you 1000000% on everything. The saddest thing is that if Serbian people knew how much Russians don’t care about Serbian-Russian friendship they would never treat Russians that well. People would literally remove their kids away from my son because he spoke another language and they would always look at as with suspicion what are we doing here and what do we want from them. Nothing. I’ve just married a Russian man and we live in Russia. That’s it. My son got first friend only when he learned Russian very well and they were unable to understand that he is part Serbian. I was treated really bad many times. I was asked why did I come to Russia? What were my intentions? If I’m a spy? 😂Why did I take Russian man, when Russia has a problem that they have more women than men and because of bad foreigners like me Russian women were forced to leave Russia and look for husband somewhere else. Just awful. I’m for friendship between nations and I think there should be more videos like this but in Russian because Russian really need to become more open minded. Serbia and Russia have similarities but they also have differences, this is the case among all Slavic countries and that is normal due to different historical circumstances and geographical location. What seems to me is that as far as some habits, ways of life, cultural and mental characteristics, etc. are concerned, Russians are in some ways similar to Scandinavian countries, Serbia and other South Slavic countries have a lot of similarities with Italy and Greece (especially seen in our famous "polako"), while Western Slavs have certain similarities with Germany, but regardless of that, all three Slavic groups have a lot of things that connect them. Water is drunk with rakija so as not to get drunk. Our rule is that you enjoy yourself while drinking, but that you have a limit so that you don't overdo it. We also have that jelly with meat, in our country it's called "pihtije". As for the cold meat, I think that usually just the roast meat (pečenje) is eaten cold, it's better for the stomach and it's tasty, plus there's a lot of it since it's usually eaten for some celebrations. Barbecue, steaks and other types of meat are usually eaten warm. As for Russian knowledge about Serbia, in my experience, I think it depends from Russian to Russian, in which part of Russia they are, etc. in my opinion, Ukrainian Russians and Crimean Russians have the greatest knowledge about Serbs and Serbia for many reasons, primarily some historical but also blood ties and maybe because they are a little closer geographically.
Yea, someone already told me the same! And probably you’re right. Unfortunately I’ve never been in any Scandinavian country, but maybe some day :) Yes! No matter how you drink you have to enjoy!
"polako" is more an attitude towards work, since in Serbia it is not worth stressing about it... Balkan people actually have a "temperament" and are very loud and can often seem agressive to a northener. As for water with rakija, it's not true, you don't drink it to not get drunk, you drink it in order to not dehydrate, and to wash away the burning feeling.

I'm not surprised that Russian and Serbian love is not balanced out, it's pretty natural considering the history and size comparison. For example, lots of that love comes from Russia's help on multiple occasions: like fighting the Turks, World wars, or with respect to Kosovo. For a Russian in 19th century, Serbia was maybe just some land where soldiers were told to go and fight. For a Serb, Russia was a sister that helped with our liberation, and that sticks in collective memory. Etc. And due to us being so much smaller, we couldn't be of much help to Russians throughout the history. In my opinion, all Slavs should do much better job at getting closer and backing each other. All Slavic countries would benefit from more brotherhood among our nations - and we are indeed distant cousins, which is also just cool!
Unfortunately Slavs do not get along well enough. Western Slavs seem to be OK with each other (but not with Russia), Eastern - not so much, Southern (Balkans) are a total mess with lots of unresolved conflicts. And it's really a pity. From my perspective Slavic nations have very much in common. The differences could serve for enriching one another not to advocate infighting. And the common ground could make it actually easier to share.

Govorim iz ličnog iskustva i iskustva mojih poznanika, jer sam imao prilike da upoznajem neke Ruse i gledao sam baš skoro neke ankete po YT, What do Russians think about Serbia i Do Russians know flags of theit allies. Sve jedna utakmica, nose i srpsku zastavu.

You are not a typical Russian woman. In Russia, you are what we in Serbia call "the other Serbian". These are people whose brothers are Gucci, Armani, iPhone, Dollar, and they would give and sell everything for one weekend in Paris, London, Berlin... That's why you ran away from Russia, because there is nothing there anymore. But why exactly in Serbia, where 80% of Serbs support Putin, the one you don't like? Probably because you are not aware of your tradition and culture. Real Russians have a sense of belonging and dignity for their homeland and would never sell it to the capitalist West.
I don’t think that war is a good thing. You can support whoever you want. But remember that at the same time you support the madness that is going in in Ukraine now.
Your first point made me smile and realise something about myself as a Serb born in America......I love to get little gifts for my friends and coworkers and yes kids. I bought little stickers for the kids at work. If I see something that reminds me of someone I will usually buy it for them if it's something reasonable. I think some people are taken aback by it but it just seems like a normal thing for me 😂🤣
Yeah, the jelly meat (aspic/hladetina/etc..) thing is an acquired taste. My sister and parents love it, but I can't even look ak it, not to mention eat it. The food is usually very good, not just Serbia, but the region as a whole. It's mostly very similar cuisine. Be careful with rakija, it can be deceptive. Oh, that reminds me, there's a great song by Dubioza Kolektiv: "No escape from Balkan".
To say that Serbs love Russians but Putin must be excluded from that is incorrect. I'd say minimum 95% of Serbs, including our government and the army and all walks of life LOVE and respect Putin, and find him to be the savior of the new world. That aside, I am happy to hear that your family chose to move to our country. I hope you decide to stay forever and have only lovely experiences and memories of Serbia and Serbian people. Loving the cats in the yard, too ❤️🐈⬛🐈🐈⬛❤️
@@SailorNom It is True about Putin. There was serious study " poll " Which show that if it is Putin candidate for president election in Serbia he will won over our leaders. It is that much that we love him, fun fact, in many houses in Serbia you will find his picture. Also even if not all Russians know about Serbia our love from Russians come from one colossal fact- Russians lost they lives in thousands for the last 600 years so that Serbia can be free-. There is Russians bones across Serbia which lay there because Russians died so that Serbia can be free, from Ottomans in midle ages to this days. Man who was inspiration for character of Lover of Ana Karenina died in Serbia fighting for Serbian people. We remember.
I find no similarities between Serbs and Russians. Who cares about Slavic roots. Just like Italians and Romanians are different, although they are Romanic nations. Serbs belong to South European circle, Russians to the North.
Sry, I'll continue in English to make my point clear. I never said I expect or even demand Serbs to speak Russian, no! It's just about the previous commenter said that one should either speak Serbian or Russian in Serbia. I have pretty much the same question as you - why is Russian even in this list? Is it really true that it makes sense to speak Russian in Serbia? That contradicts my experience, that's why I asked the question I asked. But, of course, it would be nice to discuss something with Serbs in my native language. Whatever other language I learn, it's no surprise that Russian is most comfortable for me. Again, I don't demand that Serbs should speak Russian. I'll try to clarify this whole mess. At this moment, there are the most foreigners in Serbia in our history. We have never had the opportunity for people to come to us and want to start new lives here. We usually leave here and start a new life somewhere in other countries, usually the EU and to a lesser extent the USA. The migrant crisis from the Middle East is once again at its peak. The arrival of Russians and Ukrainians, primarily Russians, is also at its peak. In addition to all that, Serbia is a free visa for citizens of India and certain African countries that do not recognize Kosovo. This is our concession to those countries. Serbs are hospitable people. Everyone is welcome here, especially in a situation where we have the problem of migration of our people to other countries. All things considered, I feel very sorry for the whole situation you are exposed to. This is not a true picture of our people and our attitude towards Russians or any foreigner. You turned out to be the sacrificial lamb of the Serbian media. It is a great shame. I hope these are the last bad moments you have in Serbia. I wish you all the luck and welcome to Serbia, enjoy!!
Ooooh I know! I know and I believe that Serbian people are great and I’m experiencing the worst part of them here now 😁 It’s okay, I’ll get through this, I’m still enjoying the hospitality and kindness of these people :) thank you very much!!!
@@unucimisekonja2476 You gave yourself an answer to that question. You work both ways, like hermap... or trans as it's popular. I remember when a friend of mine told me her maiden name and it was very interesting name and I said where are you from?? And she said her family had come from Serbia. And I was like where is Serbia?? I don't usually use that many question marks in real life. But it was 1984 and Serbia was in Yugoslavia back then so that's why I had not heard of Serbia. I also had not heard of Latvia or Estonia, although I had heard of Lithuania. And Poland had been in the news a couple years before. Ksenia (Not quite sure how to spell that) This was very interesting. I think in the US if you just walked up to people's children and started touching them, they would also get upset. There is this whole thing about strangers. Maybe that's why, I don't know. But I'm from New England and we tend to be very what would be the right word? Cold? We aren't outgoing and friendly I don't think. I mean I think we are eventually but not right off the bat. I used to ride the bus in Boston and there were lots and lots of people and all of the people from... I think they were from Vietnam maybe, definitely somewhere in Asia, they were all chatting away. And you could not hear a single American voice. Because the Americans were not talking to each other. And this was long before we had cell phones obviously. Oh it was in the '80s I didn't say that. Sorry we didn't have cell phones. We might not even have had books. We just didn't talk to each other. There was one man who talked to other people on the bus and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have had a place to live when my parents moved to Florida. He knew another girl on the bus who was looking for a roommate and he matched us up and I am thankful. Even though we really didn't get along very well. And we only lived together for 6 months and after 2 weeks of living with her she moved to another more expensive apartment that I couldn't afford to live in but I had to go with her because I didn't have any place else. And then she just kept raising my half of the rent. But also when I offered her the towels my mother gave me she looked at me and she said "the bathroom is yellow!" So that wasn't necessary. And she really hated Puerto Rican people. But I'm Puerto Rican. I'm not quite as Irish as she was and I can't remember her last name and it was 40 years ago. But that was today's stream of consciousness. It probably wasn't the first ;-)
A family from Russia moved into my neighborhood. A hard-working and good family. None of the Serbs raises the question of politics, and for us it is enough that they are Russians, and as such they will always have the maximum support of the community.
The kid thing goes both ways. We grow up getting ass whoopings by the entire community too. Builds character and teaches consequences to actions. Also no one knows where Serbia is except for Balkan ppl. So Russia is not unique in that. Serbs look up to Russia because of historical reasons and shared religion. Russia also tends to back Serbia on the world stage which is a big thing for small countries since the west wants to destroy us at every turn and we are surrounded by nato and EU nations who will gladly provide the airspace to do it.
Yeah, I just made a comment on another comment here about how my older cousin spanked me when I was little. I don't remember her doing that but sometimes I talked about the old days with my mom and we ended up laughing about it and I asked my mom how can she let her do it. But she just laughed about it - I guess it's acceptable in our culture because all relatives pitch in to raise the kids.
Speak Russian for videos with eng subtitles for those who can't understand. The English accent is really jarring and makes me (native speaker) have to manually listen as if I'm learning the language for the first time.
The kid touching thing - I had a problem with that traveling abroad. I high fived a kid and it went cool, but later my colleague told me not to do that because someone might punch me :) It's normal in Serbia
10 years ago i was in moscow with my high school excursion to learn russian language for 1 month. There was a park where my friend and i drunk beer every night. One night police patrol came and asked for our ids,we gave them and when they saw that we are from serbia, they literaly hugged us..And thats only one of many occasions i encountered betwen russian and serbian relationship...So i cant relate about that one :/ Russian policeman literaly hugged us lol,me and my friend...And i noticed that like 99% dont know english and also that there wasnt fucking one barbeque hamburgers in moscow...i was so pissed about that xD only gyros...:(
Handshakes is common in all the Balkans. In Romania I shakes hands with my work colleagues every day twice when arriving and work and when leaving. It is indeed disrepectful not to shake hands and if you avoid it is considered rude or that you have a problem with that person. Unfortunately northern Europeans find it strange and a bit too much to shake hands so often. There is also another custom which has to do with the fact that Balkan people tend to wash their hands more often than other Europeans so there is less of a fear that you’ll contact germs
Thank you for this vid, it cheered me up on a rather grey day. So, regarding cold meat, it's not common in all parts of the country but it did come from very early, pre-ottoman days where there's a practice to "prepare in advance" and then store it somewhere out of the sun so that it'll stay edible longer. Of course, it cools off by the time it's served. Cold fat is basically lard so it's not any different in terms of health impact. And when it comes to drinking, idk if you know but Serbia doesn't have a legal drinking age limit (18+ for purchasing alcohol but no limit for ingestion). Alcoholic drinks, especially rakija, are seen as medicine. They are consumed in abundance, but, in order to avoid getting light-headed, water is added to the side. You can drink a lot more that way and also savour the taste while at it. Now. Since we're at the topic of rakija. Take a stroll around any city, park, whatever has some trees. Find walnuts. Mark the calendar to pick up green fruits off them. Get like 1kg or so. Put them in jars, put sugar on top, maybe a tiny bit of alcohol to top it off and leave it in the sun to ferment. By the end of the year, you have Orahovaca! The traditional way. Best medicine :)
Hold on we take shots of rakija, idk where you're from but we take 4-5 shots in a row There are people who sip it in the morning along with coffee, but rakija is usually served in those very small glasses that you take whole, because they're pretty much a gulp or two It makes your lubgs warm so it very popular during winter to take a shot while youre working outside I mean the glasses are smaller but only because it burns the tongue instead of warming the throat if you keep it in the mouth That being said I never saw someone drink water with rakija
Hey , Kseniya 😊,wow your channel has really grown this past month!!! Look at all the people in the comment section😁.Love this video, very informative and funny. It's great to see you and your fam safe and happy in Serbia💛 Hope you have a great week!
Due to serious studing of history and geography is schools since we were kids, we know all the countries over the world pretty well at least some details. and since Russia as important powerforce and Serbia were always on the same side, plus both slavic and ortodox Christians we like Russia by default. we had rough history and we lost so many people in wars, that finnaly created our nations mentality. we are very social and direct, smiling a lot compared to Polish, Russiand or Ucranians. but that doesnt mean we are naive, anger we can produce is something I rarely saw with some other nations.. and not like italians e.g. we dont bleff, when Serbs are angty, there will be storm.. And what I like about us serbs, we are southerners but still slavs and tall, we are slavs but like mediteranians. In sports and battles we are going till the end strong, but in peace we collapse because of lack of harmony. also ortodox Christianity shaped us a lot, even today golabilaztion and beflre comunism damaged us...
Fact is that more Russians died because and for Serbia throughout history than even Serbs themselves. WWI, several wars against Turkey because of Serbia, liberation of northern Serbia in WWII.... Sad truth is so that Russians know nothing about that
People here in Serbia love to drink alcohol but we don't do it just to get drunk, we like to enjoy in that beverage and to keep clear mind to some extent since you do it to enjoy that time with friends. If you just do multiple shots of rakija and get drunk in 30 min then where's fun there? That's why people will sip that rakija and drink sprinkling water along to prolong staying conscious. The Romans in ancient times did the similar thing with adding water to wine to dilute it, also for the sake of having longer conversations with friends.
Yea it’s a good way of drinking :) I mean even if Russians drink more and faster, they will never get drunk in 30 minutes. And even drunk we still can enjoy the conversation for a very long time :)
Ahahahaha yes yes, we shake hands when we first meet each other, it's like saying "hello I'm Alex", it's very weird if you don't shake hands, you're absolutely right ahahah The background looks similar to my holiday house aka away from Belgrade. Loved the video though Xenia ahahahahha
About rakija...some drink with water (to quench the heat), but not half a liter, but one glass of water to one or more glasses of rakija, some drink without water. If you only drink one or two glasses of brandy, then you don't need water, but for larger quantities, water is necessary. Some drink separately, first a batch of brandy, then a batch of beer or vice versa, but rarely together.
I am very glad she mentioned it. I have (Thru my job) met a lot of Russian people in my life. Not a SINGLE one had any idea where Serbia is, what I was talking about, or why I was being so friendly to them. So, I stopped doing it.
Ksenija where on earth have you seen anyone parallely drinks rakija and water in Serbia. That makes no sense. When it comes to kids we ate not nearly that friendly exception in small towns and it's possible that people wanted you to feel welcome knowing how it feels to be demonised in western media after all we went thru this and we remember how it feels.
Maybe you didn't notice, because you are not, but we are very friendly to children here in Belgrade, mostly when we in any occasion talk about something with their parents. Mostly in markets and parks.

With close friends and family you Kiss cheeks 3 times, you must to visit SERBIAN SLAVA, Best thing ever to see how warm People are During those days, and Slavas are coming in Autum to spring moslty
Okay, so we’re south Slavic. The key word here being “south”. Southerners everywhere seem to be more open, friendly and cheerful everywhere, so it’s the same with Slavic people. Russia has helped us a few times in history, so we remember that kindly, far too few nations have helped us, we were mostly attacked. There’s also being from the same seed, that being the Slavic seed, that we treasure. We treasure family and we see Russia as family, even thou Serbians are a bit salty with all the Russians driving our prices up, it’s been very hard for us, especially for our students who are right now in a hard situation finding and affording apartments, we still say let’s not get mad Russians, and Ukrainians as well, are our Slavic family and we’ll be there in time of crisis for them. And when it comes to helping, we’re like that to foreigners who come here, not just Russians. Hospitality is very important in our culture. We’re not those mean monsters that they portray in Hollywood movies. I mean, I could argue that we’re much nicer to foreigners that to each other which I find to be an issue, we could be much nicer to each other, but that’s a separate conversation. When it comes to kids it’s all very innocent. Playing, hugging and buying sweets for kids comes from a pure heart and nothing else, I can’t stress that enough. I could imagine my dad giving my old toys if a Russian kid moved next door and I would be proud of him. ❤ Oh, and that salad she mentioned, I don’t know why we call it “Russian sale” but it’s also a staple for New Year’s as well here! And the meat in the jelly thing, we have it also, we call it “pihtije” and I as well always found it disgusting and never tried it, but it’s full of collagen and as I’m getting older I have been thinking of starting to it it! 😂 Tl;dr we’re just a very hospitable people and we want our guests to feel welcomed! It’s in our blood! 🥰

That's because Greece us British made up nation with East India company flag, and true Greeks are of ancient and autochthonous serbian origin
In lesser percentage to Semitic origin
Also most Romanians loves us and yet only Orthodox☦️ religion is bonding us
Is there any reason that some Greeks would have anything against Serbs? I am a Serb, who lives in Moscow and what was shock for me is that Russian portions are extremely small.
In restaurant, I always feel as cook steals half of my portion 😁
Also, have to add : Russians simply do not have such a sophisticated relationship with food.

Typically it is asked, if meals are to be carried to the table as-they-cooked, or all together. You have a choice, depending on a situation. It might me that 1 guy is very hungry and orders something simple and fast to cook as a pre-meal - there's no point to wait in such case.

In my opinion Polish people are way more similar and like us more than the Eastern ones.

But that's more of a small towns and villages thing, I doubt it happens much in Belgrade.
Ann when it comes to drinking. Here it's often said that Russians drink to get drunk and we drink out of pleasure. Results are similar but the journey is different.
I can agree with meat… but we usually warm it up every time :)
Yes, I know there are some situations when Russians are extremely kind to Serbians in Russia, but as you said, here in Serbia it’s on another level.
Yes, probably it’s because of our little town and Russian Daniel hahaha
But when we were in Belgrade, people still pated on his head, passing by 🤷🏻♀️😀
And Russians getting drunk for pleasure too!!!!!

Love from Serbians living in Russia ❤

Unfortunately I’ve never been in any Scandinavian country, but maybe some day :)
Yes!
Da, nismo isti narod.
Absolutely agree with you!
Serbs are Turks. What do you mean fighting againt's Turks? You cannot fight your own people!!
@@felmaiden1094 Not wasting my energy on a troll, bye
@@sece5116 why? Beacuse truth hurts? You Serbs are more turkish then any other balkan nation. Like 70-80% related to Turks and 20% to Roma

Love & respect to Serbian. Greetings from Indonesia.

But if a Serb already knows Russian for some reason - it could be fun for us both to communicate, don't you agree?

I know and I believe that Serbian people are great and I’m experiencing the worst part of them here now 😁

Pa i nije bas
The kid thing goes both ways. We grow up getting ass whoopings by the entire community too. Builds character and teaches consequences to actions. Also no one knows where Serbia is except for Balkan ppl. So Russia is not unique in that. Serbs look up to Russia because of historical reasons and shared religion. Russia also tends to back Serbia on the world stage which is a big thing for small countries since the west wants to destroy us at every turn and we are surrounded by nato and EU nations who will gladly provide the airspace to do it.
Make sense
Yeah, I just made a comment on another comment here about how my older cousin spanked me when I was little. I don't remember her doing that but sometimes I talked about the old days with my mom and we ended up laughing about it and I asked my mom how can she let her do it. But she just laughed about it - I guess it's acceptable in our culture because all relatives pitch in to raise the kids.

Well yea I understand that there are a lot of people who certainly aware about Serbia
Whoooooa thanks for the tips :)
Hold on we take shots of rakija, idk where you're from but we take 4-5 shots in a row
There are people who sip it in the morning along with coffee, but rakija is usually served in those very small glasses that you take whole, because they're pretty much a gulp or two
It makes your lubgs warm so it very popular during winter to take a shot while youre working outside
I mean the glasses are smaller but only because it burns the tongue instead of warming the throat if you keep it in the mouth
That being said I never saw someone drink water with rakija

Sad truth is so that Russians know nothing about that
Russians don't kiss when they meet, Serbians do.
Women do
People here in Serbia love to drink alcohol but we don't do it just to get drunk, we like to enjoy in that beverage and to keep clear mind to some extent since you do it to enjoy that time with friends.
Ahahahaha yes yes, we shake hands when we first meet each other, it's like saying "hello I'm Alex", it's very weird if you don't shake hands, you're absolutely right ahahah
The background looks similar to my holiday house aka away from Belgrade.
Loved the video though Xenia ahahahahha
Seee?! Told ya! 😁😁 thanksss a lot!
Yeaaaa make sense as well! Thanks!
I am very glad she mentioned it. I have (Thru my job) met a lot of Russian people in my life. Not a SINGLE one had any idea where Serbia is, what I was talking about, or why I was being so friendly to them. So, I stopped doing it.
I met many Russians and they were very friendly. But then again, most people I meet are friendly no matter which country lol.

Oh I want to visit it so baaaaaad!!!!!
Oh, and that salad she mentioned, I don’t know why we call it “Russian sale” but it’s also a staple for New Year’s as well here! And the meat in the jelly thing, we have it also, we call it “pihtije” and I as well always found it disgusting and never tried it, but it’s full of collagen and as I’m getting older I have been thinking of starting to it it! 😂
Tl;dr we’re just a very hospitable people and we want our guests to feel welcomed! It’s in our blood! 🥰
