The pelican flower (Aristolochia grandiflore)

This magnificent pelican flower (Aristolochia grandiflora) burst into bloom at the Botanic Garden on 31st July 2018. It has one of the largest flowers in the world and emits a repulsive odour in order to attract flies which then pollinate the plant, as Dr Chris Thorogood explains...
