I felt so bad for Clary in this scene. Sometimes you desperately want to feel (or not to feel) a certain way about someone, but you can't control your heart. She wanted to be in love with Simon so badly that she was willing to lie to both Simon and herself. She does love Simon, but she's not in love with him. There's a difference and I was glad that Simon loved himself enough to turn her down.
I know I'm like 4 years late, but Clary used Simon to get over Jace because she knew Simon was in love with her

The Seelie Queen was a bitch who wanted Simon for herself. So she used that to her advantage to break Clary and Simon up.

The Shadowhunters don’t want him around, he’s a disgrace to both the Werewolves and his own kind, the humans think of him as nothing more than a monster and the girl who he’s been in love with all his life doesn’t love him. Honestly if I was Simon, I would have just gone off on an adventure of my own to fight some top level demon or something and save the world
@@TripleC_2220 i argee. it would have made a fun story to see a disgraced vampire on his own in the world. that alone would have been a tv show on it's own. like the show starts with a young girl finding simon getting attacked by some vampires, she saves him some how only discover that he too is a vampire. adventure ensues.
damn a lot of clace shippers are so toxic. look, i love clace more than life itself tbh but i felt so damn bad for simon in this scene :(( he was so heartbroken and honestly my heart broke for him :((
Simon is my favorie character. Always was. I feel for him but he's truly deserve better. He deserves sombody who would love only him, forever.
The acting was amazing in this scene I actually felt the pain made me tear up. This show did a great job in making you care for something even if you didnt in the beginning

My poor boy... 🥺 I always felt horrible for Simon. He was so nuts for Clary, had been for years, and she never really saw him the same way. He was her "safety," not her "omg I love you so much." I'm so happy that he and Izzy fall for each other. Much better suited, if you ask me.

Alberto really betrothed his role well in this scene just the feelings, the mood, the depression in his voice it's amazing.

I actually never wanted Clary to be with Jace. Since the first ep i was something like "omg clary should definitely be with simon" and i was just so happy when they got together. Im actually a fan of action and horror, this are the things i like to be in a movie, but i rly loved their relationship, and when they broke up i swear i didnt enjoy the show the same, and when i finished the second season, i stopped watchint it cuz their relationship used to make me happier , and when it didnt exist anymore i started to find the show boring :))
Lol I am the exact opposite after I read the book and started the show and found out they slept together I was over the whole show. Jace and clary have always been end game and I’m sorry for Simon but he was never anything other than her best friend because clary just used him to cover her feelings for jace. I don’t think she ever loved him like that especially with jace around. I think she could’ve handled it better because Simon didn’t deserve this but from the beginning we knew where this was going.
ok, so I totally ship CLACE!!! But I feel SO BAD for SIMON!!! When he says, "It was a mistake." I DIED. And came back as a warlock so I could maybe with some hard ass magic fix the past and have everyone had a happy heart NOT A BROKEN ONE!!!! I know, neither of that could happen anyway. ;( :(

But the fact that she was only interested in Simon after she couldn't be with Jace (because they thought they were siblings at the time) really should have told him something...
Even though this couple is not something fans wanted, it's a necessary part of the plot for fans to get what they want. At first, Simon was in love with Clary, preventing him from dating girls interested in him like Maia. Clary was also developing feelings for Jace, but they were dormant, due to the discovery that they were siblings. This was the perfect time for Clary and Simon to be together because there were no odds against them. In the end, their relationship matured, but not to the point where they confessed their love to each other. When Jace came back from his sentence in jail, he still had feelings for Clary, establishing one end of the relationship. Jace knew they were not siblings and when he did reveal it, it progressed the story in the right path. When the Seelie queen made Clary choose between Simon and Jace, the kiss between Jace and Clary was the most passionate one, so it immediately sparked their connection again and broke up Clary and Simon. That was the end that allowed Clary and Jace to blossom as a couple and Simon to feel the heartbreak and move on. I'm actually glad that they got together because it allowed Clary to realize how she truly felt for Jace and Simon to get over his feelings for her, making way for them to find their true soulmates in the end.

Simon wasn't wrong (ultimately, we see that), but I don't think that he was being fair entirely either. Clary and Jace broke up because they thought that they were siblings, not because they wanted to end it. Their feelings were real so they weren't going to just go away because they broke up. You can still have feelings for somebody and not want to be with them. The Seelie Queen was a bitch who wanted Simon and knew that Clary still had feelings for Jace and used that reveal to break Clary and Simon up.
i said this like they broke up because they had to not because they wanted to and as much as i feel for him i feel bad for everyone involved because imagine you thinking you ready to be in this great relationship with the love of your life and someone tells you the love of your life is your brother/sister you cannot stop loving someone just because information like that and he was being funny at the wedding when he looked at jace and smirk not saying he deserved it, but he was trying to be funny. honesty is the best policy in any situation but so is common sense.
I love simon and clary! And I felt so sad for simon when this happened but so happy at the same time they was nothing more than an obstacle for there real true loves simon is meant for izzy and clary jace! I'm just glad they ended it before there friendship was totally destroyed
