This is my favorite crochet towel topper. It not only uses the whole towel, but the towel lies flat showing the pretty picture just right! Thanks for sharing with us!!
well thought out design! Finally, a gift worthy item, and what my mom and grandmother just "did" by feel. Theirs are ok, but do not lay flat and look so nice with the availability of cute dish towels you can buy these days. My attempts to copy theirs are always a bit top heavy and lop sided and I have always cut the towel in half. Your instructions cleared that up. I won't be cutting them in half anymore. But one thing to take the guessing out of the stitch lengths in the very first chain stitch/sewing row is to fold your towel in 4ths and run disappearing ink pen down the folds, and when you unfold it, the marks are well placed points to put your needle in for even stitch spaces. Also, a stitch marker would help beginners see where to begin the decreases . But if you don't have stitch markers, just pull a 3 inch piece of yarn of a different color through that stitch. Soon you'll see where it is that you begin doing the decreases. If you think through it some more, each row decreases by half of the previous rows decreases. i.e. The first row had 8 double crochet decreases on each end, the next row calls for 4 double crochet decreases on each end, then the next row decreases each end for 2 double crochet decreases. etc.
She is that good! Thank you. I finally found a manufacturer that includes a lop to hang your towel on, but only on the cabinet door knob. I like these crochet loops because of the open and close which wraps around your oven door, but I don't put towels on there personally. I like them closer to the sink....so,I won't be crocheting the topper to fold over and close with a button; I'll just stick a loop into the cabinet door knob. Thank you for sharing!
I like your suggestions to use a smaller needle and cotton yarn! Your reasons make so much sense! I have always seen towels toppers where the towel is cut in half. I like how you use the entire towel! Thank you for sharing!
When it really comes down to it, if you use them daily, and not decoratively, then it doesnt.matter what color the yarn is. I go through them. I bought a bunch from a.lady at a farmers market, about 2 years ago, and I need to get more, so um gonna try making my own. We live in the desert.on 3 acres and we get dirty. Plus my husband tinkers with cars, besides other house/yard maintenance. I have a wall oven I out seasonal decorative hand towels on I made with fabric, but I use the yarn ones hanging on my dish drain by the sink. They are awesome.
Watched your tutorial and I said "GIRL YOU GOT THIS". You made it so easy and now I'm going to the dollar store just to buy some towel to decorate. With this pandemic, I need all the craft ideas I can use. Thank you!!!
Girl I went to Dollar General and picked me up some Christmas Towels, today I am going to start my topper. You explained the instructions very well.I am excited to get started. The best kitchen topper I’ve seen! Tanks 💜
I love this towel topper. I don't have much experience in crochet and the step by step instructions are great. I particularly love the way the towel folds neatly and the pretty button hole at the top. My family and friends will be getting these for Xmas! Thank you very much.
Love your tutorial. I can't seem to crochet a towel topper... Unfortunately tea towels are expensive and hard to find nice ones. Would love to have a dollar store here
I really like your yellow one, don’t know about dark colors, think it depends on the person, but I do love These towels, just so handy for wiping your hands, for little guys too. Thanks for sharing 👍👍💕good gifts, Can give these for ever holiday I’d love them if someone gave me one.
Thank you for having a written available. I really love how it lays flat instead of wrinkling out like other patterns. By the way, your shareable links in the description didn’t work. ❤️
I do like your pattern better than most. I've checked out a lot of different styles. I like the embroidery stitch of Day's crochet better, though. She goes straight up the middle. I will try to mix it up.
Thank you so much had fun making this! Stayed up till 1:00 a.m. to finish! Couldn't stop hahahaha! Easy and your explanations perfect!!! TFS God bless you
I really like this but could you show how the finished product sits on the oven handle. I saw another video and she did the same like you starting at the towel crease but then folded the sides around and crocheted the front stitch and the back chain stitch together. That way the towel laid folded. I'm a newbie to crocheting so am nervous about instructions.
You know, I hadnt thought of that. It's a good idea to try and since its 100% cotton yarn, it's completely possible to iron it without ruining it. Thanks for the idea and thanks for watching!
I know you stated there there's no set number of sewn stitches. But would you suggest to end up with either odd or even numbers of stitches? I did make this towel topper just once but ended up with 11 stitches rather than 10 stitches for the "neck" of the towel topper. That's why I'm asking about starting off with odd or even stitches. I love this pattern and the look of the towel topper and will definitely be making more of these but want to end up with the 10 stitches for the neck of the towel. Thanks!
Hi. Love this pattern but my towels are much wider than yours. If I follow your pattern then the topper is much too long. Do you have any suggestions on how I can make it work please. That’s is 😊
My mom made these back in the seventies, but she cut the towels in half, so there were not two layers back to back. Can you tell me the reason for doing it this way? Thanks!
@@NazarasfineCrafts how many holes do you go across? I know you said it doesn't matter in between the first 8 dcdec sts. I am not getting anything close to 12 or 16.
No ma'am. I am only using 1 strand. It all depends on the weight of the yarn you are using. This yarn is on the thicker side for cotton yarn as well as, I am a tight crocheter.
Yes, Sometimes I end up with only 3 rows to get to 10 and Sometimes I end up with 5 or 6 rows before I end up with 10. You can take away the decreases if you want the bottom to be more rows or add decreases to get less rows if needed. Let me know if you need any more help. Thanks
I only charge $5 each or 2 for $8. But I believe that all depends on your area that your trying to sell them in. I see ppl selling hats for $30-$50 in some areas but where I am ppl complain about paying $10-$15. Try for higher if you believe they will move and adjust from there. Your time and energy are worth it.
Hi…I love this towel topper & everyone’s comments are very encouraging But I’m sorry you were too fast for me…I’ve made lots of different blankets & always wanted to do these.. when it came to the deceasing I haven’t done that kind before & had to rewind it & rewind it bc you were so fast….I did up to row 5…then I couldn’t see what you were doing again..so I have put it aside…. LOVE that towel, ill have to keep my eyes open at DG
The prints are still great at DG but the quality has gone down unfortunately. It stinks cause they are soo cute.
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you... getting a head start on birthday gifts not to mention holidays 😊❤️
Love this! I have never made one where it is sewn on the towel! Great tutorial! Just finished mine! Well, I need to put the button on.
Awesome! I love these because my towels always ended up where they weren't supposed too. This way they stay put.

Love the towels and the colors of the green and yellow. What kind of yarn is this
Its called Sinfonia. I got it on clearance at Hobby Lobby last year. I'm not sure if they still carry it.
Hi Thank you for this video it is so easy. Could you tell me how many towels you get out of one ball of this yarn. Thanks Donna
Oh goodness. I'm not even sure. I dont think I have had to go through a whole one yet. I keep switching colors lol
very pretty wish u could make one with ruffle no button
Ooooo sounds cute. Where would you put the ruffle? Around the top of the towel?
I live the instructions typed out I do like to read them and watch the video! Love the way you start these! Would it help to iron the seam?

Did you ever have written instructions? I keep having to start and stop the video. Love the way you are showing how to make this towel topper.
I do have them in the description below the video. Hope this helps 😊

Love this! A great, easy tutorial. What program do you use to speed up your crocheting lessons? Thx! New Sub!! 🧶
Can you do this by cutting towel in 1/2? I have 2 kitchen towels with crochet that is different than your stitch. They’re both cut in 1/2.
@yuveldamorgan9484 yes ma'am. I just like having the towel whole. But half will work well
What kind of needle are you using? My needle and yarn is having a tough time pulling through.
I am using a large eye sewing needle. It will be difficult to push a yarn needle through the towel.
Me, too.
I agree love it
Hello hope i can enter your give away .Thanks for your tutorial .

Do you have written instructions. Would love to have them
They are in the description. Thank you 💕
It's at the end after u get done crochet the long piece if I could send u a picture I would or Google towel topper with ruffle flower
Does the first line across has to be straight? I know you don't want it down to far or up to high. Bit does it have to be perfect?
I usually do it about half an inch down, but no it does not have to be perfect. That gives me the idea to do a Halloween one with a zig zag pattern.

Somehow I have more rows than you. Took longer to get the count to 10. I guess if there are more in the middle it will take more rows. Am I correct?

Its in the description.
Where did you get your towels? They are so farmhouse, I love that!
Lol....my secret is Dollar General. I love their towels and they get so many different designs. And they are 100% Cotton.
Thank you for the info! I have Dollar General in our area! I'll have to make a trip over there!
Wish pattern was printable.
Do you know you say acrost instead of across? My mom used to say that. ❤
How do you price these towels? I made some of these and I charged $6--i was told that is way too low and was suggested to charge $20.
I only charge $5 each or 2 for $8. But I believe that all depends on your area that your trying to sell them in.
