Sorry about single channel audio on 32bit sample (rookie mistake). I've been corrected in the comments about clipping 32bit Float. You can distort the recording if you exceed the maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of your microphone. Either way you can ruin a file. My explanation was kept to a very basic level. People who know audio already know how the technology works so it's best if I explain it on a basic level for us that aren't familiar. There's plenty of technical channels if you need a deeper understanding. Thank you.

I have the VM30 and I really like it! I think the new one is also amazing, having the new features. And I really like the fact you can choose if you want 24 or 32bit. I know some recorders that have 32bit ONLY have that option, so yeah.
@@RadianFilms64 the vm30 is really good man, solid performer. And yes it's good you have the option of both bits rates. I was kinda hoping they would sell this for just under $200 but it's not bad at its current price.

Looks great, sound good also. If I hadn’t just bought a mic and zoom F3 I would have got this for sure. However, I think in the long run I’m glad I got F3 as I means every mic I use is 32 bit recording but I would still consider this for quicker and more convenient usage. Also, I own other comica audio and they had compression which is a little hard but yours sounds great.
@@rw3452 that's definitely a benefit of having every mic 32bit and I also agree that this is fantastic as quick and easy option. Comica mics weren't that good in the past, they were ok for random videos but not great. I almost passed on the vm30 but glad I took it as it really showed me they stepped up.

this is incredible! i mean the noise supression is something i would not use at all, software solutions like "supertone clear" are so much better ... so but maybe for some it could be of use.
Not gonna lie, the range sucks for such the price and you were pretty much in open space. I do location sound/mixer and my tiny little Fulaim X5 can go through a wall, out a door and headed towards the end of my backyard before it cuts so it's perfect for location sound when you need to be out of the way. We bit expensive to risk it loosing signal 40ft from the receiver. This is the same issue as my Fulaim WM500 UHF system... it goes the exact distance as yours.. boom done lol
@@mediaflmcreation I've seen other reviews do alright but they were in fields and parks...I'm in London, an extremely built up area. I'm not making any excuses though, at least people can see what it's like in different locations.

Super nice! Audio is my weakest point on shoots due to laziness, haha. I always just use lav mics even though i own a Sennheiser 416. But I just use that one for voice overs and it stays in my booth.
It’s a pity all these microphones doesn’t have remote recording, so when you start recording on your camera they start. Having to push 2 buttons to have video and audio linked may make you loose some sounds. I’ll wait for next generation, having already the Zoom m3 who has the same problem. @@Altcine Very good from comica once again. Offering incredible value for money with a very nice package including everything you are going to need. I just ordered the comica boom x d pro wireless mics for only 125 euros and they have all the features I need (such as internal recording and safety mode), a nice case and 2 lavaliers in case you want to connect them onto the mics. So versatile in such an affordable price.
You can't clip 32 bit floating point audio, You can overload the mic capsule with a too high SPL causing distortion before it hits the recorder resulting in a ruined recording, The beauty of something like this will be that you don't have to position your mic too close to source and risk overloading the mic capsule and also the gain level is not so critical because it can be corrected in post whereas with 24bit audio its much more critical because you can clip the audio as well as the capsule and at 16 bit its even tighter tolerance.
It's a phenomenal mic, if only they can license a direct Mi Shoe integration for Sony cameras so you can have 24-bit along with the internal mic's 32-flout just like DJI Mic 2 would be amazing.

Great video, mine's on order... My fear is Chinese software and usability. Will it stay powered up on USB to the computer? Does the phone see the audio files (can you upload to your phone via wifi or USB)?
@@thatsaloadofcrap excellent, I'm sure you will be happy. Connecting to pc will charge whilst in use. I use android and I can copy files to phone when the mic is in copy mode. The app is really good. Connects quickly, no lag or crashes on my Samsung fold 4.

But, I'm getting an iPhone 15 Pro just for video and for running Camera Apps. iOS just runs all these non-mainstream apps like camera apps better than Android. e.g. DJI MIMO, Insta360, Lumix, Blackmagic Camera, Final Cut Camera. [I blame Google for this, not Samsung. Where's the love Google! I'm not an IT guy, but I gather from others that the Android Camera API just sucks, can't do true 24 fps on top of other things. The Pixel is just another gizmo to get people into the EcoSystem (just like iPhone)]

Dear friend, thank you for liking the VM30, but the VM40 and VM30 receivers are not compatible, because the VM40 has a one to two signaling protocol, while the VM30 only has a one to one transmission protocol.
I got this mic delivered today and I got to tell you I'm a little bit disappointed. I bought the mic for a couple of reasons. I already have a wireless solution for my camera and have been very happy with it. However this device offered a built in transmitter and a onboard recording. I use a separate device for recording and thought it would be great to have a device that offered an all in one solution. However this device has a major design flaw. You cannot monitor your recordings and there is no playback option. I planned to use the mic on my boom pole to record folie at my film locations. Usually I have to use a separate device and it's mics aren't best. This device has no way of listening to what you have recorded on the fly. You have to wait until you load the audio files onto a computer. I am flabbergasted at this oversite. Such a great idea to have a phone app and a mic that has a built in transmitter and recording in 32Bit Float but all for nothing. We must be able to monitor the recordings and have the ability to playback recordings or what's the point.
@@JWS1968 is there another shotgun mic or wireless mic set that allows you to play back the recorded audio? Could you not plug headphones into the wireless receiver to monitor the audio?

Who does that, I mean who designs a mic with a record feature but no way to listen back to what you're recording on the fly. It's just a very silly decision to have been made. I mean it's connected to you phone but no transfer or playback option there either. I think there was a real opportunity to make this mic really great and they missed it.

When the stereo mode is activated, you’ll only hear sound from one ear if using a single VM40. However, with two VM40s, you can experience dual-channel sound. We hope our answer helps you. Thanks.
TimeCode would be awesome, but if I understand correctly you can still use a TC device with passthrough from the TRS (on mic or receiver) to record both TC and (scratch?) audio to camera... PS. Still working hard on my pico-timecode project. 😉

@@AnthonyMoreschi As a predominantly audio guy I think shotguns are somewhat over rated as a catch all solution by camera people but it really does depend on the job you’re working on. I’d rather be a bit more versatile and not have my recording device tied to a shotgun mic but if you mostly use a shotgun then it’s probably your ideal product or if you have alternative recording devices and want to keep rigging minimal I can see its appeal.

Yeah I wouldn't use that either. Maybe in a live stream if the location was noisy the low settings could work but not for recording.
