it always hits me how desperate sif is for something they don’t even know the shape of. how self aware they think they are, how they carry themself like they’re so knowledgeable and experienced - and yet precisely how much he *doesn’t* know or understand about himself and the world. it’s one of the most relatable aspects of his character, the almost. growth through cringe. constantly looking back on his own naivety and thinking ‘why was i so sure i was right’ and yet STILL being nowhere near close enough to the real honest answer, instead covering it up with needless self sabotage out of pure, primal fear

Aah, I love the sus event :') it's so tragic because maybe if Odile figured it out earlier in the loops, Siffrin might have listened. But it could only happen after enough time had passed that Siffrin got blase'd enough to be suspicious, and by that point the isolation and trauma and self loathing has completely cooked their brain so Odile can't get through him.

It's obviously intentional. Name boxes are rather uncommon in this game.

@@notto5937 Insertdisc5 (the creator) actually mentioned in the Jello's playthrough of the game that that was originally a bug that she decided not to fix because it really fit the scene. It's possible (in fact, it's quite likely) that the bug used to appear in other places and she fixed all of the other instances except this one. But it wasn't something she originally planned to be there.
@@notto5937 ok I might be wrong about this but I think her sprite being there at all was a glitch that the dev just decided to not fix since it gave a cool effect

Act 5 START!
This is the act where I had to stop playing for a bit because it got to be too much for me.
When you get to the castle remember to interact with every item you pick up! It’s super fun trust me!
I always enjoy these episodes, but I have to point out at 37:11 when Gina says "and then we could have had a CHYAT" in a randomly hilarious way.
immediately after seeing the Odile scene there is this part of me that wishes it was a full reset rather than just loop to the start of the conversation, it would have been more impactful
but I guess that wouldn't make sense, since only the head housemaiden causes a full reset
Yeah it really felt like it was leading into one, but it would be annoying if you have other events at the end to be reseted out of nowhere

At most you can do is trigger the new Head Housemaiden scene if you were to get it on that same loop
@@paulomatute4114 Not everyone would have gotten the confession scene before this, in fact I'm watching another playtrough where this is the case, and do imagine planning to go get the head housemaiden scene in that same loop and then being looped back like that. A possibility that I tought of is maybe making Sif loop back to the start but instanly show a fast forward of him going trough the house acting as unsuspicious as he can and letting us take control once again back to and Odile that doesn't suspect anything, don't know if that's really good idea but I like the idea
When Odile said "I'm not stupid, Siffrin!"
I was expecting the edgy Sif to respond with "Wow, it only took you 70 loops to figure it out..."

I really loved this episode! The Basil break mid-episode was a very appreciated bit of levity🥰 I also spent the episode cuddling with my dog.
Can't quite put my finger on it, but the vibes of the first half - with y'all cutting in and out constantly - felt very in tune with Siffrin's mental state in a way that felt thematic. After all the confusion in the previous episodes (and the fact that Gina unfortunately got spoiled), I'm glad y'all finally saw Sus Quest to completion.
But more important than that... time for Act 5!
Just a tiny reminder to everyone else: we're all antsy for Gina and Allison to see as much of the game as possible, but please remember to mark your spoilers properly! We're getting to the part of the game where a single unmarked spoiler could really sour the whole experience.
The timing of "Look at her NOSE" and the goofy photo of Basil was great. What an adorable dog!
21:00 ok can I just say that this is one of my favorite missable scenes in the entire game and watching it again made me cry just as much as I did the first time I watched it? Like I know there are a lot of stand out scenes in this episode but THIS ONE was such a happy surprise for y'all to have found!
this game does a really good job at making you want to scream at the screen for Siffrin to just... talk
it is "the main problem would be solved if the protagonist just talks" the game

at least Siffrin acknowledge that the other family members could say different stuff, if only he allowed them, if only he wasn't so scared of any comfrontation or negative reaction from the others
"I banana'd myself too quickly to make logical choices" is a delightful non-sequitur. Also, thanks for the editing in this episode! (especially the puppy pictures~) I know it's probably a pain in the ass but it's greatly appreciated :) Can't wait for the next episode!
I have loved so many of the games that you guys have played but I really think this one sits firmly in the top 3 for me. Odile’s scene? Phenomenal. The head house maiden? Amazing. Overall? Tragic. Hearing when you guys start crying is also so therapeutic cause most of the time I’m crying by then too 😭.
Fully agreed on your last point. There's something kinda soothing and reassuring about knowing other people are having the same emotional reactions you are.
It's sorta like... we're all allowing ourselves to be a little emotionally vulnerable, which makes the moment feel more validating and sincere.

Seeing a new episode of this series makes me excited everytime. Your playthrough of this game is amazing.

the moment after loop’s theory where siffrin looped back made me BURST out laughing at how obvious of a confirmation it is of what they said like DAMN sif can’t handle a single grain of truth directly to their face 😭 poor guy never learned emotional regulation aw man
im just replying to my own comment here bc i truly cannot stop thinking about siffrin. character of all time. the layers and layers of denial and contradiction he hides under, the myopic, desperate worldview he holds out of pure survival instinct, but which got him into this awful situation in the first place. they are one of if not the most relatably human characters in any piece of media i’ve ever come across. they capture a reality of mental illness that i’ve seen few tackle successfully - the desire to get *worse* and how unhealthy it is for you. the desire to make a home in your illness because change - even positive - is scarier than anything. they’re just a brilliant character and i can’t wait for gina and allison to reach the deeply satisfying conclusion to sif’s arc because. it is just great. i love this game
Clearly all the NOT losing to the king that happened was simply just being in character for when Sif, who is Very Fine And Totally Okay and casually just going KILLKILLKILLKILL the king. It made the prior frustration very funny by how 'oh no' Sif's rage was in comparison xD

refuse to talk to your friends then resent them for not figuring out until it's too late
don't want your friends to help but still resent them for not helping
don't want everyone to hate you, so instead bottle up everything and let the resentment grow until you start acting distant and/or lashing out and cause them to........

I think even though Sif has started resenting his family and not seeing them as people, it's like loop said - they're terrified of what will happen if and when they leave the loop, and though they're not thinking about it they definitely know that they'll still have been changed from this experience, and I bet they fear their family will hate the person they've become.

Without record of that, who knows how stable that person is? I find it terrifying. Which means I love the game.
