I'm always so shocked at how hard Mirabelle goes in on Siffrin. Like obviously Sif messed up but she immediately starts ripping into them so hard that it feels like shes had some of those feelings for a while.
The game does set it up, too. Mirabelle mentions a few times depending on what actions you take about how she thought Siffrin was cold when they first met. Before beating the King / family quest, she still harbours some feelings about Siffrin, wondering if they really care. Siffrin does, in fact, really care, but it takes a lot to draw that out of them as he thinks showing his true feelings will push his friends away.
So then Siffrin goes for a nap, and - as far as Mirabelle knows - comes back and immediately starts antagonising her and says she'll always be alone and she needs to get used to it.
And we know that's not what he meant to say.
But Mira doesn't! And suddenly all those feelings about Siffrin being mysterious and cool and cold and standoffish all become true in her mind.
I mean I'm saying all this but I feel like she blatantly says this too so maybe it's pointless lol.
I just think it's really well written how this moment is set up and paid off. Its very shocking in the moment but a lot clearer in hindsight that she would react that badly.
Oh it absolutely makes sense! If you're initially unsure about someone but decide to trust them, only for them out of seemingly nowhere to prove your doubts correct that's gotta sting. Not just for what they specifically said but also because it feels like a betrayal of trust.
Taking all the family member scenes together it's interesting how in two instances (Isa and Odile) Sif actively sabotaged the situation but with the others (Mira and Bonnie) it's entirely accidental. But then that's kind of inevitable when you stop treating your friends as people with feelings and more like props to move around
She doesn't *quite* trust Siffrin, which was set up earlier in the game, and it might be a part of her personality - Sif hurt her and she clearly immediately tries to hit him back as hard as possible, saying the worst things she could think of it the moment. But also, unlike Isa and Odile, she is going through a LOT at that moment. All the pressure, uncertainty.. her snapping is a bit like Sif snapping at Isa and Odile..
Huh, I never made the comparison between her reaction there and Sif's with the others but you're totally right! We already know that the whole deal with the bonding process is something Mira has been struggling with since before the King, so adding this whole situation on top of that and she's gonna be stressed as anything (as evidenced by the third snack time).
Thinking about Sif and Mira's relationship, I can't remember if we learn about anything they really do together or bond over before the game starts. We know Isa has the puns (and crush), Bonnie used to be close until the accident with Sif's eye, and there are bits of dialogue throughout the game that make it seem like Sif and Odile bonded to an extent by being less touchy feely than the others. If I'm remembering correctly there's optional dialogue while doing her family quest that says she and Sif have gone on "secret missions" to go shopping before. I'm trying to think of what Sif and Mira have done but I'm drawing a blank
@@darkgolem90 Yes, Odile and Siffrin would go on "secret missions", but were actually just the two of them going around local shops. Odile would try and find family tales, while Siffrin was possibly going around trying to find anything connected with their own forgotten country. And you're right that Siffrin has a greater established connection with the others moreso than Mirabelle.
The both of them were just very nervous around the other. I think their anxieties bounced off of each other and made it hard for them to talk. While Mira is very openly anxious, Siffrin buries those emotions to the point of coming across as not caring. Once they both open up to each other, they find they actually have a lot in common.
So fun fact, if you had grabbed the tarot card in the room at 1:02:10 , you would have found The Fool: "It's a picture of someone walking towards death with eyes wide open"

I hadn't played Start Again, and I never once figured that the loop was inescapable. The thought had crossed my mind, but I didn't really think that was where the game was going. In fact, even after that conversation between Loop and their little cutie patootie stardust in Act 5, I still didn't think this would be the case. I don't know, something about it made it seem like a game with a happy ending to me? Not sure why! Maybe it was Isabeau's crush on Siffrin never having a conclusion, maybe Act 5 felt like that part in a story where things hit their absolute worst right before they start to get better.
Anyways, just thought you'd be interested in hearing about the experience of someone who played this game without playing Start Again Start Again Start Again, since you mentioned it in the episode!

Gina's been popping off with the voice acting in recent episodes, holy shit! You're genuinely doing a phenomenal job capturing the emotion in Sif's dialogue.
This episode in particular is one I have sort of been dreading for a while now. I just want to hug Siffrin.

Maybe one reason the House looks the way it does in this episode is because it's actually shifting? Like, every time so far, the party entered the House the next morning, but if they did it that night... maybe something was going on and the House hasn't fully 'settled' yet? I'm actually kinda surprised that the King wasn't just hanging out in one room of the House, and the reason the party has to get to the top of the house to fight him normally is that that's just where he was that morning.
That was brought up in SA, but I think it just represents their mental instability

This act is so sad to me. Like, yes Siffrin is being toxic in this act. But, to their credit, it took them dozens and dozens and dozens of loops to fully break. Yes, he gets tired in previous loops, and checks out. But they spent so long, so many times, trying to do the right thing, granted, it is destructive, and self-sacrificing. But, like Flowey in Undertale, there is only so much one can handle. My heart breaks for Sif.
I really hope siffrin will get to an happy place 😢

It is interesting that he has that Memory to give instant loops. I was wondering how were they going to deal with Sif being a super jerk to everyone and potentially having to loop to undo that. I guess with that Memory you'll just go back to where you just died and not have to see Sif being just awful over and over - clever design!
And I'm still wondering what were the tips the game crator gave you that you mentioned some episodes back!
