I still don't understand why the United States don't have assistance for unemployed people who is not able to collect unemployment, nor disability, nor can immediately begin a new job. The United States just lets their citizens go homeless and they don't care. I hope the best for this man.
posting no trespassing signs is the first step before getting a judge to order the removal and Demarcs the lines which enclose the property he is encroaching on.
F the permit departments. People should be allowed to live on 'public' property and build whatever shelter they can. It's a crime against humanity that we're all REQUIRED to spend thousands of dollars every year to pay into their real estate/taxation system. People should be allowed to live freely as long as they're not a burden on the system or anyone else's income. This man isn't bothering anybody, and he's not trespassing on private land. Leave him alone, let him live how he wants, on whatever his income and work ethic will support. I think every county should have public land set aside for people to build whatever to live in, with a public transportation stop, a water spigot, a dumpster, and porta potties provided. That would be much cheaper than the public paying for an apartment for people who don't want to work. And pay a wage to a 'camp boss' who would keep the place clean and orderly. The 'camp boss' could be a badass ex-con MFer who nobody wants to mess with. For $30k a year, hundreds/thousands of homeless could have a place like this and be off the streets.

Many people living in conditions like this fellow and/or on the street do so due to drug use, serious mental health issues, and lengthy criminal histories. They often refuse help offered due to balking at the rules they would have to abide by. I have no sympathy for such persons and wouldnt want them anywhere near my house and family, although I do admit there are some people who really are willing to walk the straight and narrow to get out of homelessness who do manage to fall through the cracks and thats a problem. Freedom right? Let him live rent free on something he made, This country is so crazy, My people lived off the land until it was taken, let him do what he needs
I met him a few years ago. He worked at the local Menards with me for about 2 weeks. He liked to be named Johnny. I asked him about this event because it was about a year after he was evicted. He had no ill will against the police, and went back to couch-surfing and constant evictions after the event. He was fired because his drug test results came back positive for hard drugs; but we kept him for as long as we legally could because we were desperate for new hires because the store has a notoriously high turnover rate. All I remember was he was a pretty decent worker and did his job well, but we had that thought in the back of our head he wouldn’t last long because we knew he’d fail that drug test. He tried coming back the next day thinking he could retake the drug test as if it was my 7th grade algebra test. It was kind of hilarious.
This is what I don't understand so he was fired because of a thought in the back of your head that he wouldn't last long? My question is who is going to last long at a job like menards regardless of drug use? Wouldn't drug use help contribute to someone staying in such a low paying position longer?
