People say it's a flop because it didn't do the usual numbers MJ was used to. But still even on its own it still sold very well and was one of the best selling albums of that year. And that's in spite of his fight against Sony, the media's relentless attacks on him, with one music video from the album, no tour to promote it and released during a time where sites like Napster was on the rise. Even now it's gotten much more attention from the public in recent years. Invincible continues to hold up on its own.
Agree with all your comments and challenges that MJ faced. It's sad his last official album was plagued with issues as it had the potential to be one of his best.
Butterflies saves this album for me. It’s a cover at the end of the day, but it felt good as a fan to hear Michael really singing rather than laying down walls of layers of vocals.
It’s a good r&b album. Flop? not really, he broke even considering how much he spent on the album. It earned back the money but MJ didn’t really make a buck from it. His last very successful release was HIStory. It was a double album, and sold 20 million. And the price was double. So that made a big profit. I enjoyed Invincible deep cuts and singles.
I mean it sold 13million world wide Half the artists today wish they could sell that much and Mike managed even tho Sony wasn’t promoting it so flop it was not
It didn’t sell 13 million. It probably sold half that amount. Still a success but a disappointment relative to his usual numbers.. It’s funny how he claimed there was little promotion for the album as he literally had a televised concert with the likes of Whitney and Britney performing onstage with him right around the time of the album’s release.
Imagine your album selling 8 to 10 million albums and ppl calling it a flop ?? lol the problem is that ppl look at the success of "Thriller" and for some strange and odd reason expected Michael to sell 100 million albums each time he releases an album .. bro there's no way in hell for anybody to consecutively sell 100 million albums each time they put out an album .. what happened with "Thriller" was a once in a lifetime phenomenon .. it's not fair to hold anyone to that standard .. but him having yet another diamond album and calling it a flop is crazy work! Most artists today have a problem going platinum let alone 10x platinum! The pressure put on that man was criminal and unreasonable asf .. they even trashed "Bad" for not selling as much as "Thriller" did .. like bro what?! lol smh
The album is quite amazing. If it were a Backstreetboys/timaberlake/usher/any young 2000s crap it would have been praised.Who can deliver UNBREAKABLE, SPEECHLESS, HEAVEN CAN WAIT, BREAK OF DAWN, THREATENED, WHATEVER HAPPENS, YOU ROCK MY WORLD... IN ONE ALBUM? Not many. The media hated jackson, if you read the reviews at the time, they focus solely on his image and random things. They make fun of speechless or the lost children and that´s a review.
this is my fav album by mj. when i heard this for the first time it changed my brain chemistry. also darkchild, one of my all time fav producers. he really showed his style in this album. love love love!!!
Not a flop in the slightest! Under promoted and sabotaged by Sony? Absolutely! Tommy Motola is the devil! Actually, it is recognized by billboard to be THE best album of the 2000's.
It’s a flop for Michael Jackson when it comes to sales but if you gave that album to any other famous artist like Chris brown and usher people would be saying it’s a success and the best black album of all time.
Invincible was so over saturated. Listening to Dangerous, Bad or Thriller, they all sound fresh. Especially Dangerous over 30 years later. I think MJ made a major misstep in asking the top producers of the day as early 2000s music hasn't aged well.
Sadly it was a flop because it couldn’t be anything but a flop. The huge success of everything that went before it made sure nothing would be good enough.
"Invincible" was trash. The amount of time, input by a slew of different folks and money that went into the creative process of the album were NOT commensurate with the quality of music therein. It's a whole throwaway.

Not a flop in terms of the content. I love this album it’s on my top 3 MJ albums

@@elizabethschubert7803it sold 8M WW which wasn’t bad at all but not in the range of what he was actually selling.

5:29 I thinking about MGMT "Me and Michael" then this words arrived 😆

This album was very different for MJ compared to his previous, my fave though if Off The Wall, that post disco era sounded great with his voice
@@thediaryofamusicfreakYou did a great job with this video, it’s excellent and so interesting!!

I loved rock my world. Butterflies is so beautiful
This is last Mj album
I know 😢 - at least he left behind a virtually impeccable music legacy that is still considered the blueprint
It’s a flop for Michael Jackson when it comes to sales but if you gave that album to any other famous artist like Chris brown and usher people would be saying it’s a success and the best black album of all time.
You rock my world is a top tier mj song

Agree totally unfortunately, love Michael though
Early 2000s music hasn’t aged well?? Lmfao I’d strongly beg to differ.
Back in its time when we all bought physical music it was a flop!!! And Michael was outraged with Tommy Mottola
Tommy was a problem between Michael and Mariah he caused some havoc
The album was great.
The main problem with the album was that it was hyped too much and my expectations were really high, but 🥺
I think the whole SA scandal overshadowed the whole album cycle
It crazy u talk bout this album but don’t bring up Heaven Can Wait
It was a good. Album maybe not one of his best albums but flop? No well I enjoyed it let me say that

R Kelly and Michael collaborated!!….. interesting 🙀🙈
R Kelly was a writer. He worked with Lady Gaga too - is that interesting to you as well? Or you only discriminate against black men?
@@MarlonGianmarco nice try, Gaga took that down and apologised for it. Wanna try again to bring race into it?
