What makes TLC's contract disputes even more egregious is that Pebbles had been an artist herself prior to getting into artist management! How she could draft such an awful deal with TLC that was completely balanced in her favour is incomprehensible... and after amassing a fortune from her unfair dealings with TLC she rebounded herself as Sister Perri, became an ordained Minister and preacher! The nerve of that woman!!!!
She was already endocrined in the industry. She went through her hazing.. Bivens experienced it too, but I'm sure 702, ABC nor Boyz to men received their worth either.
I believe it because she was prob screwed as an artist too which is why she wanted to go the business route to actually make money + why she also prob married LA Reid (not saying she didnt love him)but he was financially stable
If you did your research you would know Pebbles really was used as a scapegoat by Arista and LaFace who benefited the most financially. Pebbitone was co-owned by LA Reid. It was a conflict of interest. Pebbles got blamed for everything when she was only part of the problem. The problem was they were signed to LaFace through the production company and not directly to the label because TLC was Pebbles' creation and she had ownership of it. TLC got caught up in a bad situation. It wouldn't have been a huge problem if they didn't have the huge success. No one expected them to be that huge and when they went on to generate a lot of money for LaFace and Arista. Pebbitone and TLC were the last to see money everyone else got paid the most and first. Toni Braxton had a similar problem and sued and won 20M from LaFace/Arista. TLC got bad legal advice to go bankrupt and sue Pebbitone they should have sued Arista and LaFace as well. LA Reid threw Pebbles under the bus to save his job and keep Arista's biggest pop group on the label and it cost him his marriage. TLC was screwed due to way more factors than Pebbles! Getting out of the Pebbitone contract was a good move but they never got the big windfall of money from Arista/LaFace they deserved. They should have paid up atleast 5M per girl!
They did Left Eye dirty as group with No Scrubs. Great video bro! This album is timeless period!!! I play it alot when I get the feeling of listening to it. It really pushed TLC's sound of r&b/pop and hip hop into another direction sonically. Vocally, conceptually, and visually "Fanmail" opened the doors for r&b futuristic pop and hip hop to become relevant. My favorite tracks are "No Scrubs", "Unpretty", "Silly Ho", "I'm Good At Being Bad", and etc. Chilli, T-Boz, and Left Eye really carved out their own lane in music. And inspired many girl groups to do the same hands down period!!! Keep up the amazing work!!! 💖

@TheRealArrendondo thanks for watching, I assume you’re referring to the part about raps being removed from being played on the radio. CrazySexyCool was a critically acclaimed masterpiece with immense commercial success and cultural impact, but the production on Fanmail was way ahead of its time (people don't talk about this enough). I also feel like non-TLC and general casual listeners don't know much about the success and impact of the Fanmail album, which is unfortunate. Fanmail was the first album by a female group to DEBUT at the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 and spent more weeks at number one than any other girl group in music history (tied with Spice Girls). - TLC was the only artist/group with TWO number-one songs from the same album in the 99 calendar year. Fanmail received the second-most Grammy nominations of all artists/genres at the 2000 Grammys (including the top categories) and is to date the ONLY R&B or pop female group to be nominated for Album of the Year. Fanmail was the best-selling R&B album of 1999 and was amongst the best-selling albums of 1999 overall. I feel that the Fanmail era had a solid run and did what it was supposed to do. From the album's production to the aesthetic, it was an innovative body of work that cracked the doors for other r&b/pop groups to follow during the Y2K era. Silly Ho and Im Good At Being Bad were promo tracks and not “official” singles, but they were still bangers that got hip-hop station airplay (at least where I grew up). In the summer of 99, I literally remember changing the radio stations and hearing No Scrubs, Unpretty, and Im Good At Being Bad being played on the same day. I don't think Dear Lie or an “official” third single was needed, but that's just my opinion. They finished the full-year Fanmail era by wrapping up their tour, getting their Grammys, and releasing a very successful pay-per-view concert special. Also, Tboz was pregnant during the second leg of the Fanmail tour, so she was able to take the time to focus on a safe and healthy pregnancy. Despite all the ups and downs during the Fanmail era, it was still a vibe and probably my fav era of TLC!
Thanks so much!, for a revived version of the story of TLC's dealings... I believe still Pebbles had inner workings within what was going on with this group because she always claimed that she's been there before them so she was always trying to help them out, And I'm trying to figure out in what way?🕛🔄🎶🎤🧠
Pebbles was a scapegoat it was LaFace and Clive (Arista) who stole their money. Pebbitone was also co-owned by LA Reid but somehow Pebbles gets all the smoke when in reality they should have sued LaFace and Arista like Toni did (she got 20M). The Pebbitone deal was a bad deal they should have renegotiated after the first album was a huge success. TLC was Pebbles' group she put the entire group together LaFace used her as the scapegoat to keep their biggest pop act on their roster and LA Reid threw his own wife under the bus to keep his boss (Clive) happy. LA and Pebbles divorced because of this TLC drama. Pebbles was no walk in the park, but she wasn't the monster everyone makes her out to be. VH1 had to pay Pebbles a couple of million for that movie and the false portrayal. TLC deserved more money and sadly they never did get the money they deserved. Arista and LaFace did them so wrong. Had TLC been on Columbia they would be rich rich, but then again the music wouldn't be the same. LaFace's production is what made them stand out. I also hated that radio often cut Lefteye's raps out of most of the singles. TLC got screwed because they were signed to a production company that was signed to the label. They were not directly signed to LaFace like most artists so the production company absorbed most of the risk and got the financial windfall if they were hugely successful. This was common practice En Vogue had a similar deal with East/West and Elektra.
Crazy, sexy, cool was by far the best cd! I hate they filed bk, bc kick your game, switch and if I was your gf were amazing tracks! They did a Prince song and nailed it on a level just as great, if not better, than prince!!!
I agree I think another song would have served better than Dear Lie as the third single. I would have preferred Don’t Pull Out On My Yet as it showcases that the group could sing well together
@@thediaryofamusicfreak I just listened to don't pull out on me and I don't even remember it because I do not receive the Fanmail album well. I skipped most of the songs. Baby I miss you so much was a popular song out here in Jamaica but was too young to care until when I was older I was listening to some throwback grooves and the radio DJ mentioned their name I was shocked because it was different, not a TLC sound thats why i love it so much.
Was Pebbles working during the time the biopic came out? If not how was any of what was in it tarnishing her name? You paying the group you managed dust in the 90s tarnished enough

Crazy Sexy Cool is definitely one of the greatest albums of all time. Fanmail was very great but it couldn't compete against CSC.
Thanks so much!, for a revived version of the story of TLC's dealings... I believe still Pebbles had inner workings within what was going on with this group because she always claimed that she's been there before them so she was always trying to help them out, And I'm trying to figure out in what way?🕛🔄🎶🎤🧠
In a group there’s always going to be a rift or drift of wanting to go solo at sone point unfortunately that’s what happens
This was GOOD!
Thank you 🙏🏾
still one of the go to albums ❤
Fav songs : Unpretty and Silly Ho....other likes: im good at being bad, i miss you so much, dear lie, lovesick .
I ❤️ TLC!
Me too ☺️
If TLC was no sucsess than all money that was put on the group was long gone and lost. The group had sucsess. I think its better
Fan mail is tlc best album
I’m always torn between Fanmail and Crazy Sexy Cool but I think this one wins due to the concept. It was so well done
No, it's not.👍CrazySexyCool is their best album.
CrazySexyCool Takes that #1 spot always!
@@thediaryofamusicfreak you doing on about 3d it great album 💿
Crazy, sexy, cool was by far the best cd! I hate they filed bk, bc kick your game, switch and if I was your gf were amazing tracks! They did a Prince song and nailed it on a level just as great, if not better, than prince!!!
Funny how Dallas and the team rejected Fan2See, but allowed songs like "Good At Being Bad" on the album lmaoooo
who sang fan2see
Baby I miss you so much would have been a hit if they had released it instead of dear lie
Dont pull out on me sounds like a track from the crazysexycool Album a typical TLC song.
Can You Please Do Destiny's Child Destiny Fulfilled Next Please 🙂🙌🏿🫶🏿👍🏿💯
I don't like this album
You haven't seen Sporty Thivez since that lame-ass song!
u forgot silly ho. it peaked #55
CrazySexy cool was there best album
Digging on you is my ish
😂😂 @ quitting because your bandmates wont start the first Only Fans with you 20 years ahead 😂 RIP Left Eye, my Gemini queen
There was a lot of male bashing songs around the late 90s early 00s.
Is it really male bashing? Telling what women want in men isn’t bashing
First
Second
Easily their worst album ( and I don’t count their last album released a few years ago)
Disagree
@@dasiareed2708 and that you have that right. But it is certainly not better than the first two albums. And 3 D was slightly better in my opinion. There was not enough left eye on Fan Mail. Too many ballads. Not enough fun songs. Only 4 single worthy songs. No scrubs SAVED the album. Til this day it is the only song anyone plays from the album.
@@OmarHudson it’s sad they didn’t have any hits because there were many
@@dasiareed2708 are you saying that Fan Mail was better than 3D?
@@OmarHudson I didn’t say that I said Fanmail isn’t their worst album
ah (fanmail)
