I remember reading this in high school. I don’t know who was worse... one of the smartest students in the class saying it was the monkey at the door or the teacher asking “what monkey”.
U, your teacher, and the ones laughing at this are racist pieces of crap. I bet none of you would say this if a black person was around. Closet racists are a joke
Great little story. First time I read it was in 1963, in a book titled "Great Tales of Terror and the Supernatural". Still have the story on my bookshelves.
I remember watching this several years ago in school and I just had to come back because it's one of those stories that left a lasting impression. Nostalgia hits hard.
Wonderfully done, the first time I saw this I was in my early teens at a community playhouse I remember having nightmares for weeks at what was behind the door. Congratulations to everyone in this adaptation, job well done
Me too. Saw this in film format in jr high like 45 years ago. Nightmares for weeks imagining what was at the door. (the film had some moaning and lightning to build the tension) lol. those were the days. After too many modern horror movies, a few years in Afghanistan, a few car accidents, too much time wasted on gore websites ala watchpeopledie etc, the only thing that could keep me up at night now is my overactive bladder...
Omg I love this! I'm only just now finding it. What great fun :) I've always loved plays, haven't been to one since middle school. I don't know why I never went after that. Life just got in the way
Usually, I do not like classic stories such as this one to be re-interpreted, but this is very good. Congratulations to all concerned and thanks for the upload.
I really enjoyed this play of one of my favorite stories! I liked the minimalist set, I enjoyed everything about this. Much gratitude to everyone who helped bring this to us!
Poor Herbert! That was really good! I remember seeing The Monkeys Paw on TV when I was very little. It scared me so much! Thanks for the show! 👏👏👏 Liked and Subscribed!
"Monkey's paw" was made into a really weird ep of 'Alfred Hitchcock Hour'and starring the beautiful Colin Wilcox. It was a story that supernatural and rational elements combined in that old 60s TV ep!
👍🏼 Read this bout 45 years ago never thought of this perfect fix. Like it. The teacher picked up on that word “coincidence” & made us think about a different way the same story played out. Very memorable tale.
“Not me. I’m not... that type.” Something tells me Herbert is more into dudes there, Mama White. Nothing wrong with that! You go, Herbert! #LiveYourTruth 🌈
Auditioning for this play later unlikely to get it as too many experienced and skilledactors up against me But a great idea of how to perform it and closest to the script I am working from
Hi WSKG Public Media! We're working on a video essay about the origin of the "monkey paw" trope and how it works (or rather doesn't quite work) in the most recent Wonder Woman movie. We were wondering if we could use your video of this performance in ours when we talk about the origin of the phrase "monkey paw"? Happy to link out to this video in our description - let us know!
This is a nicer version of one I originally saw. The version I remember, they brought the guy back to life and had to wish him back dead after he started screaming in pain because they had already embalmed him
I saw that too! It really creeped me out. It was very convincing, those screams, the poor man begging to be killed. That was Tales from the Crypt? That would make sense, I never missed that show if I could help it. Never!
Some Ways I Think The Movie Connects With The Story Is When The Father Makes A Mistake In Chess In The Beginning, Herbert Dies So An Employee Gives His Parents Money Via Wish, And How When Herbert's Parents Wish Herbert Alive And There Is Continuous Knocking On The Door. A Way The Movie Is Different From The Story Is That In The Movie Herbert's Parents Wish For Money In Dollars And In The Story They Wish For Money In Pounds.
GalenNight there were A few movies made with the name "" The Monkey's Paw "" but the first was the good one. the couple wished there son back alive he was killed by the war. the movie was good they belt it up as he knocked at the door they wished him away. it was more then that.but it was the only one that was scary. the rest movies on the Paw, were not very g00d
I remember reading this in high school. I don’t know who was worse... one of the smartest students in the class saying it was the monkey at the door or the teacher asking “what monkey”.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Omg
I think that's taking the concept I teach of "bring yourself to the story" too far
U, your teacher, and the ones laughing at this are racist pieces of crap. I bet none of you would say this if a black person was around. Closet racists are a joke
Ha! Ha!
Watched this 8 years ago -- watching it again today - every bit as good as I remember
Couldn't give a bag of beans about school kids and assignments - I'm here for a great story by W.W. Jacobs, the pioneer of horror genre.
Couldn't give a bag of beans and cornbread on the side about school kids and assignment 💯👌🏾👍🏾😁
I watched this movie in my ELA class and read the book.
Yoooo same
Me toooo
Great little story. First time I read it was in 1963, in a book titled "Great Tales of Terror and the Supernatural". Still have the story on my bookshelves.
I read or watch this story every year for school and i look forward to it every single time.
I remember watching this several years ago in school and I just had to come back because it's one of those stories that left a lasting impression. Nostalgia hits hard.
Always a spooky story. Be careful what you wish for-always makes sense to me. Nicely done.

An enjoyable version of an oft told tale. Thanks for posting.
I remember reading this story in 6th grade and the story scared me back then.

I live on a Greek island, and one thing I miss is the Theatre. Used to love the theatre in the UK. This is wonderful !!!! Thank you for the upload.

My class died when that happened. Wtf was that?
The shadow moving across the window was chilling, I always liked the idea of what was really at the door, was it their son….or something else.
almost had a stroke trying to find this video, cute memories in high school.
Awesome performance of my favorite short story...glad I came across this!
I loved it! =D
Greeting from South America!
I watched this in my classroom with my friends
Herbert is quite sassy isn't he? Lol good story.
Thank you!
A very helpful and very understandable story with out reading the book
MY CLASS IS WATCHING THIS RN IM LAUGHING SO MUCH
Esta es la mejor representación de esta gran obra.
I saw this performed live years ago and can I say. Nightmares. Then I fell in love
This looks more like a play than a movie.
Poor Herbert! That was really good! I remember seeing The Monkeys Paw on TV when I was very little. It scared me so much! Thanks for the show! 👏👏👏

I liked this. I saw the play when I was in 6th grade for a Halloween field trip. Thank you for posting it=)

Turn up the fireplace 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
The second wish should have been "I wish I never was given this monkey's paw in the first place." Boom. Everything resets.

The Original Tales From The Crypt!!
I saw that too! It really creeped me out. It was very convincing, those screams, the poor man begging to be killed. That was Tales from the Crypt? That would make sense, I never missed that show if I could help it. Never!
I came because my teacher didn’t finish watching it and we were close
This is way better than the stupid 2011 movie that totally ruined the classic...
Perfectly matches the vibes!!
OMG I have to write a essay about this OMG

wow nice
Very amateurish acting ruins the story.
Ya ain't got to watch it. Move along go find yourself a movie version.
@@miafrench7169 OK, don't get so upset.
Exceptional tv and excellent.
The critics are uncultured swine. This is a bit of theater these actors are professional they remind me of Summer Stock and I say Bravo👏👏👏
very well done adaptation. 👏👏
Great!
Wow I didn't know Paul Lynde was still alive! I think we all know why the son isn't married yet.
i think this might the worst adaptation of the story I've ever seen, or at least the worst acted.
The story is incomparably creepy, but very short. They padded it out to make the adaptation. IMO, that was a mistake.
