  • Characterised by earthy shades, clean lines and an interesting play of light, Residence 239 is designed to respond to the client’s needs, the green surroundings as well as the distinct architectural character of Chandigarh.
A huge green door stands out in an asymmetric façade leading into a space adorned by natural hues of Kota and Jaisalmer, giving a seamless view into the green lawn in the rear end of the plot. The living spaces both at the front and the rear end of the house open into green areas providing a sense of calmness while allowing sufficient natural light inside the house.
A sculptural staircase finished in Kota stands as an indulgent element besides facilitating vertical transitions. The skylight above floods this space with natural light. A double height dining space creates an interesting play of volume.

The use of natural materials, subdued tones, a seamless flow of spaces and an earthy facade are some key highlights of the project. The architect walks through the house, giving an insight into how he planned the layout of the house keeping in mind the climate and context of Chandigarh.

I am amazed at the creativity of Indian architects to pack so much into otherwise very limited spaces. Everytime I see what I think is the best house, I am confronted with yet another masterpiece! Maybe I should give up comparing and just appreciate each design on its own merits.

The problem with buildofy is that we never get the cost of these projects..until and unless they are cost effective, normal salaried people can not think of these projects as practical solutions

Earlier we used to get the cost and the construction time here in description only. Now they’ve moved it to their paid E Book.

nice. i liked it. the open staircase may make girls with skirt, or towel uncomfortable, same goes for the alleyway overlooking the atrium but the stairs seem cutoff a a certain angle still id ad an inclined wood to shield the angle and in the alleyway, instead of piano looking bars, a round, rotund spiral would shield the angle for practical purposes. the bunker style entry door feels grand. lovely overall.
