Prayer is not just about for your needs to be reached, but for your relationship with the one true God prosper. Prayer is not just to witness the power of healing, of provision, of miracles, but for you to witness and above all experience the One where that power comes from. And prayer is not just about the words coming out of your mouth, its about the words you are receiving as you listen to Him that will change your entire life.
I just asked God somethibg, while crying. And I asked Him to give me a clue if He was listening to my preyers, then I suddenly saw this video. God is so wonderful
Thanks Fernanda. I just wrote a letter to Gideon to inform him that the account of him and his fleece is being taken out of the Bible. Let's not be so quick to put God in our nice rationalist box.
God works just like that sometimes. As our faith grows, there are times when God will honor that 'fleece' request. The point is as we grow in Hum we grow in learning how to truly trust to the point of not even asking for a 'fleece' moment. Some incorrectly use the scripture about asking for sign to discount this practice of a Believer but that's off subject. The signs they were looking for was not about growing trust or faith, it was about Jesus proving himself to them. These hypocrites wanted signs and wonders even after they'd seen many and still did not believe. Go ahead child of God, ask if you need it but understand that He decided when to give that sign
may we pray without ceasing Lord help us to do so for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, bless us Lord and may we in turn be your blessings on this earth
I paused to listen, even though I tend to disagree with "Pastor John" in his theology, generally. But prayer is tremendously important to me. So I listened. And I benefited. New insights. There is much, much more involved in prayer. But this insight from the Book of Revelation is very helpful. Thank you.
In Revelation there are 2 kinds of prayer highlighted. The first kind of prayer is thanksgiving, praise, and worship like in chapters 4, 5, 7, 11, and 19. The other one is in chapter 5:10, which is a request to avenge the blood of the saints. The trumpets and the bowls release plagues upon the dragon's kingdom which is depicted as a woman in ch 17 and 18. In ch 17 the woman is drunk with the blood of the Saints. In ch 18 a plea is made to come out from her that you receive not of her plagues. God overthrows the kingdom of Satan. In Luke 18 Jesus says Shall not God Avenge his own elect though they cry out day and night? I tell you , God will avenge them speedily!
How would that be possible that we could build up a prayer bank and that God would pour it out when He thinks it's full? One prayer of His child is as valuable to Him as a thousand prayers.
You say this because you don't read the bible and if you read then you don't understand it. It's writing that God will make that. You don't understand the final goal of prayer so you coment something like that.
People can read the Bible but can have no idea of God their Savior. Only the Holy Spirit will lead one into the truth. The born-again is the child of the living God. God is his Abba. What's the sort of prayer that you'd expect between a child & his Dad? 🌀 Rom 8:14-17 14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. 15) For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16) The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17) and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with Him. If our prayers bring causality to the will of God, then why does the Bible says this? 🌀 Ps 115:3 But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases. 🌀 Isa 40:13 Who is able to advise the Spirit of the LORD? Who knows enough to give him counsel or teach him? 🌀 Rom 11:34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”
Someone to offer me travel help i move to USA from Uganda and meet John Piper.. please..this man has founded, built, strengthened my Faith by the Grace of God. Someone to sponsor my travels?? Please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 please let me move to USA
I will never understand why it always seems frowned upon to pray for ones own issues or heartaches always kingdom come ..yes I agree Jesus said thy will be done on earth but he also said the parable of the persistant widow crying out day and night for a person's personal problem nothing wrong with crying out to God about something that's troubling you personally if it's genuine and not material based pastor John I love your show but here you stated crying out for a loved one or the church but not for something personal in someone's heart or life something that weighs heavy on their soul and I beleive God hears and cares about those prayers also he made us individual beings whos instinct is to feel our own pain first and others next nothing wrong with being honest about that at all we are all human and desire peace within as much as we want it for our neighbor I would like to hear more things regarding personal prayed instead of kissing up to God by constantly acting as if we don't care for anything other than HIS will that's a mask Christians wear to make themself appear as putting God first and to be honest God sees right through that he knows we cry to him in private about our job relationships legal matters mortgage ect ect and I don't think there is anytjing to be ashamed of with praying for those things he knows our nature and the stress we all carry daily as the Bible cast your cares upon him for he cares for you Jesus also said come unto me all you who are heavy laden and I will give you rest for my burden is light and my yoke is easy ..if anyone else heard this and was slightly discouraged at the idea that we should only pray for God's kingdom to come or our church or loved one John was generalizing I'm sure he would agree God hears all prayers and he cares about what troubles us or weighs on our soul and when we cry in our bed to him he loves you brother and sisters keep pouring out to him
Surely God's sovereign will is done regardless of our prayers? God, by definition, is in need of nothing or no one. If he were in need then he'd cease to be God. And yet we're exhorted all through scripture to pray. I've yet to hear a satisfactory explanation from any teacher/pastor/theologian that would explain this apparent paradox in a way that is clear, concise and biblical. Yet I still believe there is an answer to this. I do hear a great deal of rhetoric from fellow believers in an attempt to explain prayer. I'd much rather they were honest about their ignorance rather than positing a wrong answer. To me this is frequently bordering on pride.
So what is the purpose of scripture like “ask, and it shall be given you, seek, you shall find, knock, and it shall be opened?” God is going to do His will and His purpose must be served no matter what. What is the point of me praying at all for my needs or desires? It sounds like all I should pray is a modification of the Lord’s Prayer at all times.
What is the purpose of praying for various things (because God is going to do what He wants anyway)? Because one of the things that He wants is a loving relationship with His children. And when His beloved child comes to Him with a request, that builds the relationship. And when He fulfills the request, that builds the relationship further. But when the child says "There's no point in this. He's just going to do what He wants anyway." That is very destructive to the relationship. Anyway I'm oversimplifying because of time and space requirements. If you're really interested in this, study the life of George Mueller.
Julie Wolf Hi, Julie. If this can start to help you understand more the importance and coherence of prayer, I’d want to share with you this short list I made of short articles that are very good for answering in one way your question: www.reasonablefaith.org/question-answer/P160/what-is-the-point-of-prayer www.reasonablefaith.org/question-answer/P230/must-we-pray-for-a-miracle www.reasonablefaith.org/question-answer/P230/middle-knowledge-and-prayer www.reasonablefaith.org/question-answer/P230/praying-retroactively www.reasonablefaith.org/question-answer/P230/the-importance-of-personal-devotions God bless you!
Listen he DOES still answer needs and desires as he sees fit so not likley is he going to grant prayers for a million dollars to one person who just wants to settle in luxury for example because that won't further his want for us to rely on him daily . I can tell you he has answered many prayers for me over the years not every single one mind you but many others usually he grants ones that are best for us and ones that mean alot to us emotionally
Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong-you want only what will give you pleasure.

Steven C he did same thing to me to, he's amazing
Steven C that's called divination and it is paganism. God doesn't operate that way.
How does God work then, in your opinion?

How to pray?
Wondering where and how can he refer it to a "bowl" from the scriptures? :)
Catriona it's Revelation 5:8 :) God bless!
3 years later...Already read it? Or what
