Thank you so much for the very in depth and informative video. Took all my worries from charging. I was into RC planes about 7 years ago and the big worry was the lipo batteries were catching fire a lot.Cheers from Ontario ,Canada.
I'm really glad to hear that the video was helpful and informative for you. It's fantastic to know that it could alleviate your concerns about charging, especially considering the issues with lipo batteries in the past. It's always great to connect with fellow RC enthusiasts, and hearing from someone in Ontario, Canada, makes it even more special. If you have any more questions or topics you'd like me to cover in future videos, please don't hesitate to ask.
Since I haven't started charging out in the field, I think this is a great product. Having the power supply built in makes for an effective charging solution anywhere there's an outlet to plug in to. Thanks for highlighting this awesome charger.
Such a small charger that has a built-in power supply. A good backup or travel charger(if we ever can travel again) . Enough features to get the job done. Great review, happy flying 👍🤓
Just purchased this one to charge my 2s hv's on a parallel board. Small and PSU included is way better than running my big PSU to charge some small 2s batteries. Great review.
A really nice charger. I have smaller 450mah 3s batteries that it just doesn't make sense to throw on my 2400watt psu with a 20amp charger. This is a great solution.
I’m confused I have a 8V 4S 650mAh 80C LiPo Micro Battery - XT30 and just got this charger. I know it should be 4.2 volts but how many amps should I charge at? .5, 1. Would higher make it charge faster. Does this tell me when it done charging? Thanks
The colors are confusing. At 6:01 in the video the two lowest voltage cells (1&2) are grey, meaning balancing slow. The highest voltage cell (4) is red, meaning balancing "fastest". Does that mean it is actually discharging to get down to be balanced with the lower cells, or just charging more slowly until the others catch up (in which case "balancing more quickly is a confusing term)?
Thanks for watching. I appreciate your feedback and I totally understand your confusion regarding the colours. The colour indications on the charger can indeed be a bit confusing at first. In the case you mentioned, the grey colour for cells 1 and 2 indicates that they are currently being balanced at a slower rate compared to the other cells. The red colour for cell 4, on the other hand, means that it's being balanced at a faster rate. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's discharging, but rather charging at a slower pace until the other cells catch up. I agree that the term "balancing more quickly" can be a bit misleading in this context. I hope this clears things up a bit.
@@WhirlyBloke hello again Whirly I love and comment on most all your videos and could really use this charger as my main charger. I started building and didn't realize just how expensive everything was and have not been able to snag a charger on sale yet. Anyways love the videos regardless if I win or not.
I just got one of these, and it won't automatically charge my 4s 850mah tattu battery. I've set it to the right voltage and current, and still nothing happens. I need help
Hi, have you been able to charge 1S batteries on this ToolkitRC M4AC charger? I have tried to but it won't charge unless there's a balance lead plugged in which 1S batteries obviously don't have. Any advice?
Yes, you can. The charge voltage you choose depends on exactly which 18650s you're using, so check the manufacturer spec. However, I tend to charge mine using a regular lipo charge of 4.2v at a suitable charge current.
Since my 1s doesn't have a balance lead, how do I get it to charge? I've bought the charger but at the moment I'm not able to get it to charge these small 1s batteries.
You need to series charge them. You can use a simple lead like this ruclips.net/video/OjaQzCA1b8A/видео.html I use these all the time. Or you could use a dedicated series, switchable charge board like this ruclips.net/video/642PNcRUtkA/видео.html
@@WhirlyBloke Much apreciated. Should I make my own cable for a single battery, am I right to think that I just need to get for example a 2s balance plug and connect the negative cables to the negative coming from the single battery and the positive to the positive? So I would end up with a plug to the 1s battery on one end, and a split on the other going to a xt60 and a balance lead.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the ToolkitRC M4AC battery charger. It's unfortunate that you encountered an issue with reversed polarity. I totally understand how frustrating it can be when things like this happen. It's a valuable lesson for all of us to be extra careful when dealing with battery chargers. Double-checking the polarity is definitely crucial to avoid damaging the charger or any other electronics. Taking the time to read the user manual and following the manufacturer's instructions can make a big difference. Safety should always be a top priority when working with batteries, so your reminder serves as a great heads-up for everyone. We live and learn, right? Thanks again for sharing your experience. Hopefully, it helps others avoid similar mishaps. Stay safe and have a great day!
@@solaiganesh3071 You need to check the specs of the battery you are charging. But something like a VTC6 can be charged using the Lipo setting (4.2v) usually around at around 1-1.5A but but check the max charge currents on the specifications - don't guess.
@@WhirlyBloke all I can do is switch between 0.5-2.5 A and with long hold switch between 4.2v-3.60v, what exactly do you press for discharging? Sorry last question 😄
@@kmarko96 3.85v and 3.60v are storage charging modes, if your lipo is higher than those volts it will discharge and if it's lower than those volts it will charge up, in general 3.85v is the common storage voltage for most chargers

Very true.
For 2s or 3s - does it matter which pins you connect to on the balance port?
Yes. They need to be in the correct order. It's the same for any balance charger.
