Beckman Industrial HD-153 Digital Multimeter

This goes to the origin of "The Multimeter Junkie". I used to have a Beckman 223. Used it daily for about 15 years, then it died. This got me started down the rabbit hole of multimeters. Recently I found that the HD-153 was essentially the same meter, and that you see them occasionally on eBay. The universe is in balance again.

I bought my HD-153 new, probably in the late 80's. The amplitude to frequency output puts this meter in a class by itself and makes this meter my favorite - I haven't found a modern replacement. I can probe across panels, boards and BMS leads, watching my hands and the probes and audibly sense the voltage. The same goes for resistance mode - testing for bad solder joints and cables. The TTL transition indicator mode has also been very handy - I should verify that it works with 3V3 logic. I tend to use clamp-on ammeters rather than in-series meters, so fuse replacement hasn't been a big headache.
Anyone got a lead on a stand? Mine broke many years ago. 😞

I have a virtually new HD-153 in the box with manual, leads and spare fuses if you are interested we could probably work something out.

Build them and ones that were experiments desert camouflage colors. Multicolored green. San Diego, California Ruffian rd.
Robert Dunn was lead testing.
I build them start to finish.
Pick parts from storage. The to production line. Masing machine, production line of about ten workers, then to wave guild machine for soldering components on to electronic circuit boards water cycle removed legs of components down to a certain level installed battery two young ladies added windows and back cover. Then on to basic programing then to weather testing room heat testing.

there's a black fuse holder inside the unit that contains a spare fuse

There are two fuses, one for milliamps and one for the high current range. It's been years though and I don't remember about the fuse holder.

@@mdzacharias I'm own a service company and have repaired many of that model.. down in the bottom right by the fuse pcb is a black clip that holds the spare and I seen it in your video..
