You, my friend, are an angel sent from above to guide me through the murky waters of MainStage. So many other tutorials take for granted that the audience are techies, ignoring the fact that if we were we wouldn’t be watching their content. I have subbed and will be watching many times over. Thank you. Every blessing.
Cheers Richard really appreciate your encouragement! I'm so glad this is helping beginners Mainstage is far from obvious! :) God Bless I have a load more tutorials in this playlist ruclips.net/p/PLHTjb7AoC3pjjgglEenZhm7mNzhqJzW8H
Great video, thank you. But I'm just starting out and it all went a little too quick for me. Can I download a step by step, page by page printout of everything you've done in the video? I have two old keyboards (Roland A-300Pro and Technics SX-P30) which I have successfully connected to my new iMac using two USB midi interfaces (a Roland UM-ONE and an iCON Mi5). So rather than downloading/using your template, my aim is to dive into the guts of MainStage and create, initially, what you have done. Thereby understanding MainStage a bit better. Cheers for now, cobby54
Cheers Cobby glad you enjoyed! I would recommend using youtube's speed button in the bottom right hand corner and reduce to 0.5 X speed and watch along slowly
Hey great video! But i am having issue with template I made, which is similar to yours. I create a new patch with certain sounds and have another patch with another set of sounds. But all the patches would be the same in both patches for some reason. If i change one channel strip, it changes the same channel strip throughout the entire concert to match that one channel strip. Is there a way to avoid that?
Hi Joshua, it sounds like you have been pasting patches as alias, try to just paste not as an alias and then the channels will be independent of one another. Best Wishes
@@pianoproductions9059 i am using monterey 12.2.1. I've got 14"mbp base model. For some reason the sound quality sometimes degrades. I use Alchemy often though. That might be the reason. I thought that m1 pro is powerful enough. 🤔

What buffer size do you use? I have a somewhat similar machine as yours-an M1 Pro with 32G of RAM. And what about the I/O Safety Buffer, does it need to stay on? Thanks for the tutorial. I'm just getting started on building a setup for performing live using Mainstage, and it's been helpful.
I use about 128 for buffer size and tend to turn off I/O safety buffer off as I believe it uses additional resources, I tend to just make sure mainstage is more than capable enough of what I am asking :) Glad the video was helpful!
@@pianoproductions9059 Right, I figured you would. I got confused because you took it to the highest size at some point, but obviously just for demonstration. I wonder if my machine would handle a size of 64... It does in Logic when I record, but then playing live is something else. Guess it depends on the patch and how big is the plugins' load. Thanks again.
Id say its a live performace software that runs multiple vsts and instruments in a set, where you can have layers and assign different patches to different parts of the keyboard . All mainly done thru midi.

Hey there! :) I am not sure what you mean do you mean when you try and assign the knob it doesn't respond or do you mean it responds but not correctly?
@@pianoproductions9059 it respond because I can rotate and assign the knob correctly BUT the knob rotation is different!
