Your advice is extra great. I've tried to start using FreeCAD several times so far, but the complexity of the tutorials I've followed for several months online didn't convince me. As a retired Air Force member, I was in the position of an instructor and I know how important it is to focus on the essential content with simple explanations in transferring knowledge. You've achieved just that.🤟

These short practical demonstrations are a great way to learn FreeCAD, and CAD in general. Now that FreeCAD is finally in a full release 1.0 version, hopefully the user interface has stabilized. The biggest problem with RUclips FreeCAD instruction videos has been the next release of FreeCAD completely changed the user interface and the instruction videos no longer applied. It was frustrating to watch those videos when my version of FreeCAD didn't have the same user interface.
I often use the primitive shapes to create parts in FreeCAD. The basic truncated cone shape in this example can easily be drawn by selecting the cone button, entering 40 mm for the base radius, 30 mm for the top radius, and 20 mm for the height, with no need to draw circles on planes or use an additive loft. It's amazing what complex parts can be created by adding and subtracting various primitives, and then using the chamfer and fillet tools on the edges.

I'm really finding this series very helpful. At around 4:00 creating the construction plane and offsetting it. When I do that the plane isn't squarely aligned with the first circle, so when I create the smaller circle they're misaligned. I've tried it multiple times and it's always the same. Any thoughts on why this is happening? Thanks.

You can make first same as second just by changing pocket direction/edge to custom (show direction)
and play with y value in this orientation. However first is more artistic this way xD

Hi. Great video series. I do have a question. When i try to export a simple 2D drawing to .pdf and print it out on my lazerJet printer, to be sure that all my messurements are correct according to my pysical material, i have this problem, that the print doesnt come out to scale. Eks. if i make a simple sketch of a square with 4 holes, placed with a distance of 35mm between the holes, the printed paper is not to scale, the distance between the holes are smaler than the 35mm i specified, and ofcause i made a sketch that can fit an A4 paper, how come ??. Hope you can tell me what i'am diong wrong. Thanks again. 🙂

4:04 why did you offset ? I don't get it?

The 20mm offset combined with the next sketch effectively created the shape height when the additive loft was done.
