The problem with the USA's gun violence is that... gun is allowed to circulate among the public.
Thus giving access to practically everyone to own guns.
Remember that human, when given access to "power" without the right "knowledge" and "attitude" to go with it, can only create chaos. Just like the saying : "Power without heart are just brutes, but heart without power are recklessness."

    • @notoriousriot250
      @notoriousriot250 2 года назад

Yes I agree and the way to fix this is to teach the public about gun safety and how to act when around them and as well as understand how to use if it ever comes to it, probably a good way to do this is if high schools are incentivized, not forced to, with federal grants and funds to teach these lessons, they aren’t long it’s actually pretty easy to know how to conduct one self appropriately. See I know guns aren’t the problem since there was a time when teens would lock their rifles and such in their lockers so when school was finished they could go hunting with the boys in such and mass shootings were very low, now this kind of culture has changed. I believe the reasoning for it is a lack of companionship people have been getting mostly boys since bullying has really gotten out of hand especially since these kids can’t really escape it, plus trust for the government is super low and mental health really isn’t worked on by our government. Also i think its important to treat every school as if the president’s children go to it.

No they don't. Just look at other first world countries that greatly restrict gun ownership. Is everyone cowering in their homes, held up by gun-wielding criminals? No, they aren't.
The fact is, guns owned by normal citizens are rarely used as a form of self-defence. Stats show you are more likely to be shot if you own a gun than if you don't. Most shootings in the home occur as a result of improper use of a personal weapon or emotionally motivated killing within the family.
If someone comes at you with a gun, you will not be looking to draw yours. It's already too late. If you want to live, you deescalate the situation, even if that means giving them your wallet or your keys. If you are ever threatened with a gun or other weapon by a stranger, it's most likely that they are using it to intimidate you into giving over your personal possessions. They aren't looking to kill you. But if you provoke them - such as drawing your own weapon - then they will kill you in self-defence, because you are now threatening them.
The second amendment specifically calls out the need for the right to keep and bare arms, as being necessary for forming a well regulated militia to ensure the security of the state. A well regulated militia is what our military is, including conscription in a time of war - it is not a single person making decisions individually. The security of the state is security against foreign invasion or insurrection. It says nothing about having a right to carry a weapon in public as a form for self-defence.
And this all comes about in response to when America was a British colony and, in an attempt to curtail rebellion, the crown made it illegal for the colonists to own guns.
Many activists claim the second amendment gives them the right to bare arms, but they forget about all those qualifiers of where, when, and why that right applies.

While blaming games is out right stupid, to be fair it really isn't gun laws fault either, people who want to do damage will do damage wither it be from stealing a gun or wither it be from buying fertilizer and turning that shit into a bomb and just blowing up the building instead. The problem isn't games or guns but rather parents lack of taking responsibility in paying attention to their kids or giving them the attention they need. I don't own a gun, I never will, but I don't blame guns for something that is a a symptom and not the cause.

The more likely connections would be that poverty and single parent households leads to school shootings well also leading to other unfortunate behaviours like drug abuse and gang violence. Also gun culture is hard to blame as well considering that guns have been around for centuries and used all over the world but the school shooting are a new thing so its more appropriate to ask what has changed in culture. If you regulate gun ownership enough, and along with that crack down on black market, you will be able to get guns out of hands of run-of-the-mill criminals. Those with connections will still get their hands on guns. But regular Robber Joe will have much harder time doing the same.
You can not just crack down on black market without also imposing heavier regulations, otherwise it would still be too easy to get guns from citizens who buy them legally and then pawning them off. And obviously regulations alone will not get guns out of streets. These two things have to go hand in hand. Even such simple thing like requiring regular citizens to pass competency test before selling them guns would help a lot with this.

That's the issue there. Of course, I agree that people who are mentally unfit, irresponsible or convicted felons shouldn't have access, but that's what a background check system like the one in the US is for. I refer to overkill gun control like in Australia, Japan or the UK, which is what many political candidates want for the US.
Systems like in Australia make it very expensive and difficult to get a gun, greatly limit what types you are allowed to own, and makes it basically illegal to use it in self-defence.
That leads to the situation of the law-abiding person being screwed over, since the criminals end up having easier access, and access to more powerful weapons.

Also, I can personally tell you that criminals still have illegal guns in Australia, and there is quite a bit of gang violence that doesn't make international news.
Also, I'd like to remind you that around 60% of US gun deaths are suicide, and the majority of non-suicide gun violence comes from inner city gang violence, mostly in cities like Detroit and Chicago, which already have heaps of gun control.

@Ahhhnon 42069 Lots of links. Shame you use the data incorrectly.
First, you make a claim that London has a higher murder rate than NY. This was true for one month. don't forget NY is one of the safest cities in the US so London the worst city in the UK when it comes to crime also is vastly safer than the majority of the US.
Why yes you are right Criminals don't obey laws. However, if you make firearms position a crime the punishment they are going to receive goes up. It would be in their interest to carry it out without a firearm.
You also talk about Mexico and their crime, well done in understanding that most of the guns in Mexico are illegal, now where do they get these guns?
Oh yes, America. One of the reasons the cartels can destabilize the country is because the US can't control its illegal gun trade. Drugs go North, Guns come South.
Amazin using sources such as America gun facts, totally trustworthy. Just remember the only country that school shootings are a thing.

I agree we shouldn't blame games for gun violence. But I don't think people are buying guns and claiming they are just for sport. I do know hunters who do but for the most part it's people wanting to protect themselves because of our high crime rates. Some people may go to the range for fun, but many go for practice so they can hit the person who is a threat to them or someone else. Claiming people just want guns for sport is kind of ignorant.

I think everyone forgets that if someone in the US that isn't allowed to get a firearm is willing to get one, they're willing to commit a crime with it at least 90% of the time. Drugs are illegal, it doesn't stop people from using them. Just making something illegal or trying to take it away won't work. We need to fix our shit in the economy and the healthcare system to be safer. Hell, right now it'd cost me 5 thousand dollars to ride in an ambulance if I were to be shot, stabbed, or otherwise dangerously injured. On top of that, I'd have to pay around 6-7 thousand dollars for the treatment, and close to a thousand for every week I spend recovering. People wonder why southerners will literally wait until we lose an arm or a leg to go to the hospital, and this is it. Most of the south has been rural, farmland or cattle or horses or whatever it is still rural and suburban. In these places, you'll have a lot more injuries related to animals than say in a city. We would also have to pay considerably more to be driven to the hospital due to long distances. We understand more than anyone that hospitals are fucked, but oh no veedeeoh gaym cos vilens, tromp go vacaishon an no weyr masc.

Coming from someone from the US with LOADS of family members in the military, I can tell you from my perspective that it is not the people who use guns for sport and stuff like. Based on my experience businesses that involve the use of firearms for sport are very secure and the people that go there respect guns and handle them properly. Funny enough, the places that have the highest amount of gun-related killings are in cities like Chicago and NYC, which are supposed to be "Gun Free" cities. I STRONGLY disagree with the claims that video games cause mass shootings, instead, I believe that mental illness does. The grand majority of mass shootings at least in the USA are done by people that have been diagnosed with mental illnesses and purchased guns illegally. The violence in video games MAY BE a trigger for that dangerous behaviour but is nowhere near responsible for it. Remember this is MY perspective and my take on the issue coming from a very long line of servicemen (and more recently servicewomen) since I came from a family that taught me how to respect guns from a very young age.
