Good run down of the menus. Just used this camera on a hired shoot. Wish I had have seen this before the job. The job featured a lot of fast moving action. I mapped the one shot auto focus feature on the pistol grip to keep up with the action. Worked well for my needs.
this video was good! i’m a film major in my last year and messing around with this camera. It was good you went through the menus and read out what each thing said and was...i didn’t know know what all the acronyms were
I just sold my C100 mk ii and bought a used C200. Your video was helpful in transitioning to a slightly different menu system. I also liked your explanation of shutter speed vs shutter angle. I didn't know that.
Do you know if there is any other monitor that could be used to maintain the touchscreen capabilities of the c200 standard monitor, running through the video input?
@@BenSchubert Just getting use to the button placement. My previous camera was mirrorless, so its a little bit of an adjustment. Im thinking about investing in a shoulder rig.
So I bought a c200 second hand. Came with the all original handle and video mount but no screw to attach the video and mic mount to the holder. My question would be, does anyone know what scre I need? Having a hard time finding the correct one. Any help would be so very much appreciated.
@@BenSchubert the question i how to have two xlr mics recording at loud and quiet. I think you dont acheive this but manage a very useful pot+auto per channel. for example mic 1 is chan1 via pot, chan 3 at auto?
Got it. You can choose to have channel 3&4 auto or manual. On page 2 of the menu you can choose the settings. You can only adjust Channel 1&2 in the fly but 3&4 I will set to be my lower safety tracks.
Hi great video. Can you help me solve a problem? Its about my white balance and raw image on c200. Okay, my 5600k Wb looks like its in the 3200, and 3200 looks like its in the 5000.. 5600 looks orange or just to warm. Next question my raw don't look completely flat. From my experience with black magic in raw the picture was flat and white balance looks good. What farmware do you have?
There are a lot of things that could be making this happen. On one hand Canon Colour spaces tend to have a higher red channel and it all might be more than you are used to seeing in the footage. In camera you can set your colour space to EOS Neutral which has less red. If it's extreme try a factory reset. Another thing might be how you are converting the footage after. I like to set it to C-Log2 and Canon Cinema-Gammut. Not sure what my current Firmware is, it's been a year since I've updated it. Hope some of this helps.
HELLO BEN I HAVE CANON C200 BUT EVERY TIME I USE NINJA V TO RECORD THE REC SIGN STILL ON THE SCREEN HOW CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM? CAN YOU HELP ME OUT PLEASE. THANK YOU
Howdy Ben, recently picked up a used c200 and trying to figure out how to change the A & B set white balances for changing quickly from say 3600 to 7100 WB depending on the situation. Is it not possible to change those white balances? I'm not finding it in the menus.
The easy way is to hit the WB button which gives you the option of daylight, tungsten or AWB. In Daylight and tungsten press right on the joystick and it will highlight the Colour Temp, which you can change.
I make custom button 11 my auto focus on / off. That way I can switch between auto and manual if face tracking is annoying or if I need to pull focus for more creative shots.
I leave NR at zero. I tried it before but you lose detail and sharpness and I found that there was ghosting in the image so I stopped playing with it. I think you’d be better off DeNoising in post though I don’t do that either
You can only get the waveform through SDI on the C200 so you would need the SDI adapter for the Ninja if you wanted that specific feature of highlighting the Waveform. Otherwise the concept still works with the Ninja waveform as is.
Hi dumb question, when I run out of memory on the CFAST does the canon c200 automatically starts recording on the SD cards and if so, how do i ensure this is set up properly? thx!
Sorry, it’s not going to work. If you are looking for an inexpensive media for raw look into Solid pods. I don’t use them myself so I can’t really give an opinion on them
It records uncompressed 8bit 422 in prores which is a better quality than the internal 8bit. It just doesn’t output raw. Check out the video I did a video about the 8bit output to the ninja
I like the way you explain certain things about your experience with this camera. Thanks my brother!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Thanks for clarifying the audio set up. Great info, i thought i knew everything about this cam :D

I don't have a lot of those options.. any idea why?

Thanks. Just grabbed this camera a week ago and I've been struggling with run and gun. On sticks I'm golden.
Awesome. I love it for run and gun. What’s the challenge for you?

do you describe how to have two safety tracks set up?
can't remember if I said it in the video, but you have 4 channels and you can assign different mics to them.

Turn "OSD" off. Look for it in your C200 monitor menu

That's not a bad choice. I have something similar set up on my EOS R so this would definitely be useful.
I use tracking on the grip button 1 to turn af off and on.. handy if you just to keep the focus on the same point ..
Thanks! It was really helpful, and i am wondering how to record a raw on a ninja 5 not on cfast I’m struggling how to do it?
Happy to help! Unfortunately the C200 doesn’t output a Raw signal. Only 4K 8bit 4:2:2. It only records raw internally.
How did you set the noise reduction? Is it usefull for less noise?

No. I leave it at zero. Definitely do some tests to make sure you are getting the image that works for you.

To record to Cfast, you need to be recording in 4kRaw, it will only record HDproxies to SD while in RAW mode.
