I'd swear there were times when I was someone else a person with determination and knowledge of the self but you flattened me to rubble and now I can see that I'm just faded negative of the image I used to be and that's our dilemma. As we look back upon our lives how true is this for most of us; especially if it was we who flattened ourselves.
@Helvetetsfasor pretty sure Epitaph was started after Bad Religion had already been a band for a few years and had nothing to do with their ability to get distribution.
@Dr34dmoc Don't get me wrong, I do prefer Greg's writing, hell I've been looking up to the guy since I can remember. But the life Brett brought back to BR for Process of Belief was noticeable. Greg began writing great songs again, I love his academic feel. Brett wrote I Want to Conquer the World, Delirium of Disorder, Do What You Want, You, Billy, which are great songs. He has a large impact on BR. Oh and just because you know Skyscraper was from Genesis 11:1-9 doesn't make you mr. smarty pants.
I'm saying that the idealized punk can't be seen as having changed to be punk. No one was born being a punk. Therefore, no one can be a "true punk". What's the difference between the guy who "became a punk" 15 years ago and the guy who was a preppy 2 weeks ago and decided to be a punk?
Gurewitz is a great songwriter and belons to BR. But ! Grey Race is a great album and so is No Substance. Okay, lets say New America was their weekest period, but still they wrote songs like Hopeless Houswife which is a brilliant one. About Epitaph: I dont care about their money. They made some punk groups known for the whole world and thats great! About Offspring: I would be happy to see them on the top now instead of another rnb stuff.
@Dr34dmoc are you kidding me? Detrimental? Do you know how many BR songs he's written? Most of which are equally fascinating. Greg and Brett feed off of each others ability. They hit hard with POB when Brett came back. I bet you also think Brooks Wackerman is detrimental to BR. -_-
Correct me if im wrong, i normally am but some contradiction here. You say punk is unattainable but one must change inevitably to become punk, so therefore it must be attainable?
I believe that punk is the unattainable attribute, like imortality or invincibility, No one can be born punk. One must change inevitibly to become punk. And then, is he a poser?
Yes, but opinions can change. What if my opinions evolved to coincide with the punk scene. If I were to express my changed beliefs, would I be accepted? How does one know a true believer versus a person who commits lip-service? Also, your comments seem to reference fierce freedom of opinion. However, those who consider their minds open will not all ascribe to punk ideals. I do strongly agree with freedom of expression and speech but don't really consider myself a punk, more a freethinker.
Punk is just a convenient label to me. Not an ideal. Now it's less convenient because everybody seems to think they know what it means and they all mean different things.
Hetson... please come back. It's not the same without you :(

this sounds great for live!
One of their best albums of the 90's
io personalmente adoro grey race
I like this song alot, it's up there with their best songs. My faves are like Stranger than fiction and Broken.
My favorite band all their songs are good! There legends to me!
Love this song !!!!!!!!
Gray Race > Stranger than Fiction?
Perhaps
Very debatable. I gotta go with STF though, it was the album that got me into them.
Sicuro
Definitely
Good old days
What a great band.

Bad religion has a knack for knocking out killer live versions..Try the 1996 live in Germany version of generator
you're absolutely correct, sir.

@0333808 The Gray Race is the best.
Yeah dude you're right!
Gurewitz founded Epitaph and the Offspring became famous because of his sense of business.
I like this song.
I want a grey hooded sweatshirt with 1:46 on it, minus the station logo and show emblem. Feelin' that!
Agreed.
I love the shit out of BR, have since early 90s. We can all agree that Graffin’s stage presence is awkward, right?

@mate6 rnb? dont you mean pop?
I don't think BR ever played/wrote a song that didn't kick ass!
