- It’s LIVE 🙈- Debut Album ‘’Small Things’’ ❤️
Hello beautiful people of RUclips -My Crowdfunding page is now LIVE
This has been a dream of mine for nearly 10 years, but sometimes things don’t go as planned, but now as an independent artist I’m embarking on a mission to finally release an album.
I haven’t been very present online, or even with my friends, because things just got a bit shit, as they have with so many people over the last year, but I’m ready to get back out into the world. 🤗 🌈 🦀
Don’t feel any pressure to donate as I appreciate these are strange and difficult times we are living through, but thank you for taking the time 🙏 💕
I’d massively appreciate it if you could share the link with you friends and family xxx
Take care, lots of love Jani xxxx
(also a huge thank you to my friend Richard for helping with the video and for letting me stay on his couch in London 👼 xX)

.. thank you for the music rip xxx
Lyrics.
Well I stepped into an avalanche,
it covered up my soul;
when I am not this hunchback that you see,
I sleep beneath the golden hills
You who wish to conquer pain,
you must learn, learn to serve me well.
You strike my side by accident
as you go down for your gold
The crippled here that you clothe and feed
is neither starved nor cold
He does not ask for your company,
not at the center, the centre of the world.
When I am on a pedestal,
you did not raise me there.
Your laws do not compel me
to kneel grotesque and bare
I myself am the pedestal
for this ugly hump at which you stare
You who wish to conquer pain,
you must learn what makes me kind
the crumbs of love that you offer me,
they're the crumbs I've left behind.
Your pain is no credential here,
it's just the shadow, shadow of my wound
I have begun to long for you,
I who have no greed
I have begun to ask for you,
I who have no need
You say you've gone away from me,
but I can feel you when you breathe
Holy smokes I wasn’t expecting that. Graceful, disciplined, soulful, poignant and genuine. Daaaaaammmmmmnnn! As an aging musician, it’s a relief to hear this. All you’ve left for me to criticize is myself. Absolutely brilliant & beautiful, thank you.
I can't believe I almost ignored this link (so many poor cover versions on RUclips). What a treat! This is by far my favorite L. Cohen song, so I'm going to be more critical of your performance, unfortunately. This song affects me in so many different ways, it's actually kind of strange. Anyway, I was blown away by your interpretation of this song. You didn't try anything silly like I often hear in RUclipsr's cover songs...you played it like L. Cohen was sitting in front of you. You gave the song the respect that it deserved. For that, I will be seeking out the remainder of your work. Also, I hope you have a wonderful, successful career in music. Success doesn't mean millions of dollars, but I think you already know that and I'll end now before I embarrass myself any further. Good luck to you!!
This is really, really powerful- all your versions are exceptional! (By the way I was Leonard Cohen's friend and engineer/producer)
Wow didnt expect to hear such a yong woman sing this heavy old song. As a Cohen fan its wonderful to see his songs being picked up and carried anew into the current culture where it is needed again
It's still the best cover I've ever found
.
Are you related to L Cohen?
Dearest Janileigh, this is quite the haunting cover and rather wonderfully done. Your picking pattern seems distinctly different to good ole Leonards! I'd LOVE to learn this. I can see the chords but might you share with us the lil pickin' pattern between the base notes?
Thank you for your heartfelt interpretation of one of my favorite Cohen songs, probably his darkest song. I always thought the song was about a man conversing with his God (or his version of God). Leonard Cohen was a great artist who will always be with me.
Theyr'e the crumbs that Leonard left behind and somehow you served us a full meal of them
Beautiful Jani.
You felt it the true Cohen magic of poetry to a true story which has brought all of us Cohen fans together 🙌🇬🇧❤️
I commented a year ago. One year later, the magic is intact, I keep revisiting and I keep loving it. Thank you for such a bliss! Keep playing, Leonard is listening…
This song hits a certain way for us oldtimers; and how sweet and how sad it is, to feel it anew from a new voice. Well done. And Leonard--well done and thank you.
I've loved Leonard Cohen my whole live
Just found this wonderful singer via the new Aimee Mann version. What a wonderful guitar style and a stunning voice. Have ordered the 'Bird on a Wire' CD, which looks wonderful...
Your sweet vocal tone is in such stark contrast to Cohen's, but somehow just as haunting. A beautifully wrenching version of my favorite Leonard Cohen piece. Thank you so much.
Pain, sorrow and beauty is all I hear from you in this song. Thank you Janileigh. No words can explain how powerful one song can be.
Shumë e trishtë dhe shumë e ëmbël në ortekun tënd!❤️🇦🇱
Beautiful, mesmeric and upliftingly sad. Above all heartfelt that can’t be disguised. If there is any justice in this world you will be recognised for the massive talent you are.
This song was written for you to perform. Near perfect, which is always the best. Thank you Janleigh.
