Great succees story and deserves respect and credit for pushing this Sailing Doodles to this point. Reality was, he was another wannabe crossing the Gulf of Mexico on small budget sailboat with the brave Megan and 2 dogs, and he has persevered and is leading class of RUclips Sailing genre and more.

-- IIRC other people took over Naughty Dogs (my memory is foggy) ... CT 54' was an older boat, a monohull. Bobby was on Dark Side (Hatteras motor boat) for about 18 months. Lots of changes. Constant change is here to stay!

Might suggest getting an "All in one" washer/dryer. Double the price of a regular front load washer, but a 120V heat pump dryer that beats railing drying.

I know nothing about sailing, never really been on one. I love listening to someone with so much knowledge about their passions. I think I'm going to talk my buddy into taking me out on his sailboat.
Bobby first things first the boat just looks amazing! Very spacious for its size with nice finishing on the surfaces. Wish you the best for your new boat! And a couple of thoughts... The generator cabinet/room will need lots and lots of sound deadening... Huge generator without sound proofing panels will be loud.... Now about the solar I believe because of the panels location that you will get one array of panels generating "full" really... And that means you will get at best about 2KW from the 5KW. Just a suggestion don't sail far away in the first 2-3 days as there isn't a new boat that won't have issues in the first sail... Wish you the best!
I have owned and sailed several catamarans but never one built in Thailand. It will be exciting to see how the boat fares on the open sea with good winds. Congratulations on the new boat which looks absolutely fantastic!

Many had that same thought. Looks like they choose to prioritize energy for drive motors, refrigeration, and AC. Plus the starlink is a hog. Granted 200khw would run a house for a few days. With gas you do have a way to cook if there is an electrical issue. I wouldn’t want to fool with all the different propane bottle in the world.

Hopefully Island Spirit has not missed many other crucial details. I’ll be following along, as it looks like a very nice new cruiser to the market. Propane is extremely efficient, the RV fridge likely will also run off of propane and or electricity. Our RV fridge is very efficient running off of propane
@@KelpropRV fridges are smaller and usually do not get cold quickly or stay as cold, and you will have to continue to find propane when there is an unlimited supply of electricity already.

I'm thinking the same thing you'd do if you have a fuel leak around hot engines that can catch fire. Put the fire out as quick as possible, with fire extinguishers, call the Coast Guard, and wait on the boat if possible and/or wait on the dingy. Fire due to batteries overheating or fuel leak are both a possibility, but I believe now a days are a very rare occurrence, if routine maintenance is performed. I would think that would be common sailor/anybody sense, but looks to not be the case in this situation.⛵🙂
Richard, what are you going to do when an asteroid hits earth and kills us all? You are literally worrying about something that hasn't happened and likely won't happen. Yes it could happen, but an issue unrelated to the batteries is just as likely/unlikley.

I would be worried that bow area would fill with water going to weather in rough seas. Added weight would cause breaking waves to hit front windows and door and flood main salon. I would have latches on the seat hatches; so water can't get inside the hull when flooded.

Hey Bobby, have been away, sure remember all the early years. I’m 74& @69 had massive stroke! It wasn’t a Mild Tia stroke, like most my buddies in my 1133rd Medivac helps. I think your new “Ship” is outta this world beautiful! I was Navy ASW, Avionics tech in San Diego, Ca. 4 year’s eventually raining specific compartments. Had to divide it up cuz my aircraft had over 70 pieces of avionics. Way too many for the average technician!! I miss flying, which U surely did to start with. But after a few years we gotta let it go! Always love your show no matter where you head to! Be safe my friend!!!

We had one in our 5th wheel. Made in Germany. Did a great job. Give the option on drying.
heat pump drying using warm air instead of hot is the future. Better for clothes with the main obstacle being adapting from hot clothes drying.

Induction can be a real PITA on a boat.. good call having propane and then a portable induction to compliment.

Hey Bobby, have been away, sure remember all the early years. I’m 74& @69 had massive stroke! It wasn’t a Mild Tia stroke, like most my buddies in my 1133rd Medivac helps. I think your new “Ship” is outta this world beautiful! I was Navy ASW, Avionics tech in San Diego, Ca. 4 year’s eventually raining specific compartments. Had to divide it up cuz my aircraft had over 70 pieces of avionics. Way too many for the average technician!! I miss flying, which U surely did to start with. But after a few years we gotta let it go! Always love your show no matter where you head to! Be safe my friend!!!
