- Let's take a look at All the times Finland, Denmark and Norway was joked about, mentioned or referenced in the Simpsons! It's pretty fun and interesting to see the how a parody of the Finnish, Danish and Norwegian Image looks to the Simpsons, a show that has influenced many people around the world.
All the classical stereotypes and references are here: Finnish Dance, Danish Wienerbrod, Norwegian Crazy sea captains. And as usual they have mixed up the Nordic countries with each other, but rather understandable since the Nordic countries are quite similar.

Which is weird because the casting director has Finnish roots.
It seems they haven't seen Finns either.
They kind of got all the accents wrong. Everybody sounded like a mix of Swedish and Norwegian. Finnish and Danish accents are very different. Obviously Americans don't really know national traits of Nordics people so it is hard to make good jokes. If you look at the Netflix show Norsemen, you can see more how Norwegians make fun of themselves.

Neither of the Finnish references make no sense. The first one was a saami costume and the accent one just sounds scandinavia n.
In the episode "Goo Goo Gai Pan" Mr. Burns tells Selma that he once raced against the Flying Finn, Paavo Nurmi.
For the Denmark part they SHOULD have made the most popular Danish movie trio, The Olsen-Gang appear on The Simpsons. I hope they will in the future. 💛

Hahah i thought this was quiet funny since im from Denmark however I wouldn't really say that Denmark is "mentioned" when they talk about ''Danishes" because that is just the name of the Pastery, and the danish accent in the end is not quit there, sounds a little more swedish or something.

Well in a future I like to see a whole episode where they visit in Finland. You forgot some finnish reference. In one episode Mr Burns talks about flying Finn Paavo Nurmi, there is a Sauna in their apartment in one episode and in one episode there´s a flashback of olympic games held in Helsinki in 1952.

They got the finnish accent wrong badly because finnish is not scandivanian language its finno ugric which only includes finnish Estonian and hungarian (or maybe some minority language from russia idk) but that accent was all wrong.
