Simply perfect! It even helped me to see that filling a world is a much more accessible and less complicated task than my mind makes it seem when I start to imagine what is needed for this xD Thank you Mooky and thank you for suggesting my mods, as always!!
@@mookymilkplays no seriously, you’re a genius. Your contribution to the sims 3 community and your brilliant, creative tips really help a lot of us enjoy playing the game even more with ease! 😌
Thanks for this. I don't seem to have too much of a problem with most lots, but the Late Night lots drive me crazy, especially in Bridgeport. Who wants to sneak past a bouncer into the exclusive area when there isn't anyone in the bar in the first place? I like your strategy with the NPCs. And I'll definitely try some of the mods you recommended.
Okay I am 15 minutes in but all of this is so useful and new info I never considered regarding sims 3. I have played this game for 10 years now and I scrolled through the tumblr ts3 tag randomly and stumbled across your video. Thank you, will give these solid advice a go, also subscribed ! 🎉
Gurl, I just found your channel and your guides and I'M IN LOVE! Thank u SO MUCH for all your amazing work and insight, you're really saving this game 🥺❤
For sims that you don't care about 8 in a house with nothing to entertain themselves works but better is 4 in one house and 4 in another, you have way too many community lots for the amount of houses. It looks unrealistic. You need a balance of homes verses community lots ideally more homes. You can triple the houses but if they have nothing to do but eat, sleep, and bathe then the houses are background decoration for the world and the sims are decoration for community lots which fills out the world better for immersion. And also the sims you care about should all have jobs, if you want to find them out and about in the world you don't want them working a cash register and cash registers get serviced by the unemployed which is why you can often find Cornelia Goth working the consignment register even though that doesn't fit her status. So nightlife sims you want them working in the morning, other sims a career that fits or a part time job, then all the rest that are just set dressing leave them unemployed. As for bars, dance clubs, private lounges... the size of the world should determine how many of those and that includes the variety. A world that small should have just 1 and not 1 of each. Younger sims the dance club would be the better choice but more middle age then a dive bar - Irish or sports would be better. Makes more sense for the majority age demographics. Being that world has but one small commercial district that limits how many of each type of venue goes into it, too many bars and clubs compared to other lot types in one small area. You would want a world that has more than one commercial district for more than 1 bar or club, 2 bars and a dance club you would want a bar and dance club in 1 district and the other bar in the other. if a sports bar is one of them then that should be in the same district as the gym. and the other bar in the other district. Being that world is similar to Twinbrook off to the side where the Twinbrook large junkyard would be a good place for a second commercial district with a small residential district between the two with just a T junction with 5 visit lots on the main road that goes through the district and around the lake and No visitors allowed career rabbit hole lots on the other dead end road. But you also leveled a residential district on the other side of town and that's a good place to add a second commercial district, level the houses but not the lots and put in a few commercial lots. Even some from the original downtown and replace them with No Visitors Allowed set dressing buildings to fill in the space. A mod that allows you to place stoves on a commercial lot can allow you to make an appliance shop, make a store front and put a desk and couch outside for a furniture store for example of what can be done besides plain old 2 story offices. This makes the world more believable but doesn't pull sims from the lots you want them to visit as well as splits the town up so it's not too many nightlife places in 1 district with no impact on performance.
Omg, you're saying that the reason my game is lagging is because my npcs have too nice houses? That's something I didn't expect. I was feeling nostalgic and started a save in a completely vanilla and unchanged Sunset Valley. Story Progression started kicking in and made a lot of babies, so yeah, it's starting to get messy and laggy... 😅
I'm not sure what the last part of this means, but I've been modding games for awhile and make mods myself, so it requires some intermediate knowledge on how games, engines, and mods work, which is how I put observations and facts together. Hope this helps!
One thing i wanted to fix is autonomous actions. Like i noticed sims can go to the park with a bunch of stuff to do and people to talk to… and then sit down and read a book… which is fine if it made sense for their traits but in real life nobody does that now its mostly cell phones but the cell interactions in sims 3 aren’t important or interesting enough for them to sit on their phones so id rather they interact with the lot and other sims. Similarly the wishes often are too generic and not unique to sims traits and its always the same wishes i see repeatedly. Id rather see some that are more unique to certain traits or situations. I wish it were a way to disable wishes from certain packs because I don’t do supernatural gameplay but i use some of the objects. But there are always so many supernatural wishes….
I found the supreme ai mod is pretty good for this, but in general that's never really bothered me. I guess when I roleplay mostly I find myself ignoring the wishes until it makes sense haha
@@Curiousblit__z nah you're fine, it's bothersome enough for me to ignore it, so I get what you mean. I guess I just assumed devs meant to have things that mostly make sense, bounce off your gameplay, but also random things to spice things up? But I always liked how you can just ignore it and more will spawn, and usually they align with my personality traits, or sleeping over a friends house in a bunk bed and now the kid suddenly wants to buy a bunk bed. Stuff like that where it's like most of the time it makes sense but sometimes it's just really random and annoying, but you don't have to commit to it which is why it never got to me imo
Amazing video!! So specific to what I was looking for. Do you know how the engine handles homeless sims? I’ve thought about filling the world with homeless sims since they’re already out and about in theory lol
I would suggest making a homeless NPC household or arsil's custom role generator. When it comes to actual EA homeless sims they tend to cause a lot of routing and the engine just doesn't seem to handle them very well in general.
Quick question, when you make an npc household, do you set it as a townie lot or just a regular lot? I'm in the middle of building a custom world and this would definitely help optimize the experience.
@mookymilksims well, that does answer my question, thanks! Tho in CAW, there is an option to make a residential lot a townie lot... but I have no idea how that would work yet. This is my first world build and I haven't gotten to the point where I can test things out. So, they're just regular households, they're just driven to leave the house because there's nothing to do at home, got it.
@@jordith01 oh sorry!! I didn't know you were talking about CAW but yes, less functional entertainment objects, or basically 0. Just the necessities that will keep them alive, the engine will naturally push them to leave.
I'm actually not sure, I don't play with mac but I know that some things won't work on mac, too. I would honestly just playtest it and see if you're getting the same results as me during the gameplay. If you consistently crash or you don't notice any population difference, then the mods aren't working for you?
