Imagine if prime Michael Jordan wrote a free, monthly column detailing the preparation and strategic thinking for all six of his championship playoff runs. That was Kai in his peak. Except Kai had more championships.

There is a pro tour top 8 report from 2010 at starcitygames. That is the oldest top result report I could find.

It is truly sad that this is happening to him. When I heard the announcement, I was in tears. Kai and Finkel were the 2 best of that era.

They were the two best of ANY era. Kai before Finkle of course, but nobody has had the level of dominance. The stat line that blows my mind the most is for over three years, every 6 months Kai WON a pro tour.

It's sad to hear about Kai. His decks got me to see magic in a different light when I was younger. Dude will always be one of the best magic minds. I got to meet him once at a gp and he was super nice and giving of his time.

One of the most cosmically ironic outcomes of the announcement was it was literally 4 Days before the 85th anniversary of Lou Gehrigs "luckiest man on the face of this earth" speech

Oh man, that's really sad. I grew up admiring Kai's play. He was SO GOOD. Really hoping for the best for one of the GOAT's of the game.
