This was so helpful! Being Native Hawaiian and growing up in Hawaiʻi, my culture (beyond the stereotypes) is super important to me and I knew that I wanted to somehow incorporate it into my application, but I didnʻt know how. Thank you for taking the time to make all of these videos, as a predent itʻs very inspiring and a nice reminder to keep working hard :)

I remember doing my personal statements it took like 17 drafts and I started early, I could cringe at some of the things I was going to put in but oh well it was worth it🙌🙌 just finishing off my 1st year.
I definitely had at least 10 different drafts at first HAHA! Woooo 1 year down!

Hi Laura, Pou wanted to ask you a question about a minor in business. Do you think it’s helpful when applying to dental school? Did you have a minor in undergraduate?
@@toddseng5665 Hi Pou! I think it's very helpful to have a business background if your son plans to be a practice owner in the future. Minor in business is great if you can do it! I personally did not take any business classes or minor in undergrad, but I recommend taking some intro to business classes.

Thanks for the awesome video! I completely agree with your point regarding self reflection and taking the time to figure out why you want to pursue a professional school. Its important to get a good sense of this to convey to admissions comittees and make for a stronger personal statement in general. I also think its important to add in your own personal experiences to give them more of an idea of who you are as a person and bring extra depth to the personal statement. This was a very good video and thanks for giving back to the community!
Hey guys, I know this is a stressful process but its completely possible to write an awesome personal statement. I know I had issues too way back when I was a premed. As a 4th year med student looking back on this I know there were mistakes I made that I hope I can prevent you from making. I recently put a video up on my channel going into a few tips to write a stronger personal statement for medical school. I hope this helps provide some of you guys with more direction. Literally do NOT copy it. If you're thinking about it, STOP. There was a dude at UAB who got caught copying a personal statement from a dental student's Instagram and was blacklisted. Not worth it.

Hi Laura👋🏽so in my country (South Africa) you can go straight yo dental school immediately after highschool,and I want to apply,but here in SA we only have 6 dental schools...and I'm afraid that I don't get in any of them,THEN WHAT DO I DO!?!cause Dentistry is soooo cool,and I don't wanna go into teaching...any tips for a backup plan if I get denied at all 6?💋💜

I would say I'm pretty studious! Most people in dental school are since we need to know our stuff when we're taking care of our patients! :)
I have a question. I’m still in high school but I want to be a dentist. I live in South Carolina so the best dental school near by is MUSC. I looked at a video of the top 5 most expensive dental schools and MUSC was number 4 in the whole country. I want to stay close to home. But I’m just nervous about the price of it . So my question is how are you dealing with all the debt because apparently dentist have more debt then most physicians?
Dental school is EXPENSIVE! It's definitely something to consider. I'm planning to make a video about how I deal with the debt while in school. To keep it short - loans :(
