- This years Outstanding Achievement to Comedy winner is none other than Sacha Baron Cohen!
The concept for the Awards was originally devised and produced by British TV legend, Michael Hurll to promote homegrown comedy talent. The original show was presented by Michael Parkinson and winners included VICTORIA WOOD as Best Live Stand-up, PAULINE QUIRKE as Best TV Comedy Newcomer, and DROP THE DEAD DONKEY as the Best New TV Comedy. Other winners included RUSS ABBOTT, CLIVE JAMES & ROWAN ATKINSON.

Man, you can really tell it's been a while. The jokes are spot on, but the voice/mannerisms are way different than he used to be. Still good to see him again. Been watching his show again these past few weeks.

No, it sounds like Aladeen character, who he had been promoting in 2012.
Could be due to the way recording system is setup, the crowd and all. Was a little different towards the end, also he was sort talking louder.

Best thing for me is, in 2002, Savile said this: "He's made a fortune out of me. If I wasn't here he would be skint. Ali G wears tracksuits and bulky jewellery like I started doing on the telly in 1961. He must go to the charity shops I give my old tracksuits to."

That joke went right over your head... It's about Jimmy Saville. He was a children's tv presenter in the 80's who died; but now loads of people have come forward saying that he molested them when they were children. He wore a tracksuit all the time, as well.

Guys may be is hard for u to believe me, but when Ali g appear at TV, I was like 18-19 and I thought he is real rapper, didn't knew it was actually actor haahaha cant believe how good this guy was.
Ouch, Sacha had been promoting the Dictator at this time (2012) and had probably been living the Admiral General Aladeen character for too long, because it's obvious that he forgot Ali G's accent. He sounds like a cross between Admiral General Aladeen and Ali G. In fact, I hear very little Ali G in that accent. It's sad, because he had perfected it for so many years (1995-2005).
Danimal300zx I noticed the same watching the new clips from _Ali G Rezurection_... And I was sad, because Ali G was one of my fav characters. I mean, he still rocks, but it's not as before... It's not so much his accent, but voice nuances... Well, at least now I know I'm not the only one who noticed. I hope he regains Ali G character fully and does something new! And Borat!
I like _The dictator_, but this fact makes me wish more Ali G would've been made instead of _The dictator_. Well, in fact I suppose I wished that anyway... I think he could do more Ali G and Borat, not interviewing people because he says too many recognize him, but more TV shows or movies he could do...

One of the best things about these comedic skits at award shows is it tells you which actors have a sense of humour and which actors are boring, uptight arseholes.

Sacha uses completely different accents for Ali G and Aladeen, I don't hear Aladeen in Ali G here at all. For Ali G he uses a British/Jamaican accent, When he plays Aladeen he uses an Arabic accent.

his accent is different. Close but not the same. Part maybe he's projecting his voice louder and higher pitched. But there is a HINT of Borat and the Austrian character in there at times, too. 3:22 go listen when he says "the iPhone". has a hint of the Austrian in it.
