Dr. Plowman, thank you for the very helpful info! I've been suffering from dry eye for years, but my optometrist never mentioned the option of tear duct lavage. On the contrary, she is suggesting to plug my puncta to get the tears stay longer in the eye. Doctor, would it raise the risk of inflammation in the eye and in the lacrimal sac significantly ? Would you recommend punctal plugs to you dry eye patients ?
Thanks so much for th info! Facinating how the eyes work. I'm not sure I need those prescriptions yet, I'll stick with the Cationorm drops at the moment. I think I'll ask about flushing the ducts though - I've had a long history of allergies.
Can u spell the name of the drug u mentioned for flare ups? Asudas? I’m in US. Also what about flushing when the tear ducts are all lasered shut? I’ve been using the saline ampules daily to hose out.
Thank you for all the great information. My dry eyes which ive suffered with for many years has none of the usual symptoms...red itchy irritated eyes etc. Nothing except extremely watery during the spring, summer and winter with no decrease during any of the seasons. My eyes pretty much as soon as i wake up are like floodgate of water. I've been mistaken for crying all the time..The only irritation that I have stems from having to constantly wipe my eyes. I've tried pretty much every eye drops available here in Canada but the only thing that gives me some temporary relief is rubbing some Vaseline directly into the eye. I know that cannot be good but its the only remedy that will stop the waterfall for awhile.
You're welcome, Jenny. You may like to chat with your Eye Doctor about Nasolacrimal Lavage. Or see a Dry Eye Specialist. Feel free to check out dryeyedirectory.com Thanks
Vitapos can help overnight if you wake up with sore, dry or irritated eyes. Some people like it. Eye masks are better as you don't wake up with blurred vision from the ointment. Check out the masks on this page: shop.dryeyedirectory.com/products/eyeeco-eyeseals-4-0-hydrating-sleep-mask
Thank you Dr. Plowman! Had never heard of the tear duct lavage.
You're most welcome, Tammy! I hope it helps you!

Sure- They're called Eyesuvis. For tear ducts layered shut, you can get an easy reversal done by an Ophthalmologist. It takes a few minutes to do

Thank you for your video. Always informative. I think I will ask my eye doctor about the lavage. I will let you know if he’s accommodating.😂
You’re welcome, Patti! I look forward to hearing how you go!

I had good success with Eyesuvis, but didn't know why it was used only short term. Now I know! :)
Great to hear your success with Eyesuvis, Carrie!
