Another AdLib MIDI player worth using is Bisqwit's ADL2MIDI, it supports 18 channel OPL3 use, with 4op instruments and various banks. Though on crowded MIDIs (more notes than the channel count active at the same time) playback can be janky, but it's a better option. The Windows version supports double OPL3 emulation, doubling possible channels to 36.
There is another program by wohlstand where you can play midi files just like midier. It's pretty good and it's called adlmidi. Much like the other program mentioned this version also supports native dos. So if you have a 486 and up equipped with an opl3 enabled card it will work well and downshift on the hardware used disabling smartdrv might be a good idea. You can also create your own banks or modify existing ones with a program called opl3bankeditor.
Yeah since its all in DOSBOX everything I described here should work on Mac and Linux too! All you need to do is load the MIDIer program into DOSBox or DOSBOX-X.
I downloaded the first track of raiden 2, i tried to turn it into the midi but there was way to much going on soooooo i than used a new ai program called Moises and split the drums, vocals, bass, string and other(other is the melody) than i got some extra samples for bass and drums (especially kicks for video game music) converted each instrument with amazing midi, than used bear file converter and merged my midi files FOR A SUPER MIDI THAT SOUNDS AWESOME, than i put it on midier and it was even MORE AWESOME!
@@DOSStorm ay check this out since you inspired me with this video. i turned all the music for raiden 2 into a full track, i split the instruments, than i turned the melodies into MIDI!, from there i imported The MIDI to FL Studio along with the other instruments including the ^other^ MELODY ^track^ and it all matches up hahaha, Which is like a lightning hitting a rod when it comes to video game music. i'm calling it the MIDI enhanced technique aka the "STEVACUS TOUCH-UP'. and here it is it's pretty cool and sounds great ruclips.net/video/hXh3aJZV5OU/видео.html
Thought this would be about a program that directly generated OPL3 friendly MIDI from an MP3. Maybe I'll try one of those automatic MP3 to MID tools and OPL that. Not gonna sound good! I don't know where to find MIDIs to my taste that are also well made and use something close to the intended samples on say a SB32, would like to collect more. There should be an equivelent of a MOD file for serious wavetable MIDI.
Sorry....You aren't the first to say that. I edited the thumbnail a bit so its less misleading. MP3 to MIDI tools aren't that great, but maybe with future AI tech they will get a bit better.
Sneaky clickbait, I must say. ;) Putting the word "ANY" in the title and an icon of a mp3 file in the thumbnail. Thought you found some way of using OPL3 as a PCM playback device... maybe something like the guys with Pinball Fantasies did, where that game could actually play digital samples via opl, or even pc speaker for that matter. But, in the end it's just "ANY" song that just happens to exist in MIDI format. Well played, well played. Got me. Fun video.
Yeah good tip. Through trial and error I have finally figured out a lighting solution that works in my latest video. This room is super tiny and hard to get the lighting right.
Awesome to see Symphony X here, was a pleasant surprise :)
Great content as always.
I always look for reasons to include Symphony X in anything. XD
@@DOSStormI love that song ❤
Great idea! I'll definitely check out this DOS midi player. FM has its own style, and I like that very much. Iron Maiden wins your selection👍
I agree FM is underrated in the chip tune community....Oh and yeah everybody loves The Trooper.

Love your DOS content! :)
Thank you! I have plenty more projects planned. ;)
love the new intro
Thanks! My brother did the music for it.
SABATON!!! Yeah awesome choice! \m/
I love me some power metal!
Imagine making a video about FM synthesis, showing a capture of the sample based FastTracker II, while talking about midi files. 🤔
Forgive me. I was lacking some B Roll my guy. 😜
Thank you so much. Will this work on the version of Doss box on Mac? If so, what are the commands to play midi files? If there are any?

Bless you.
Is that Blake Stone in the background?
It is indeed.

Sorry if it was misleading! I really struggled to come up with a proper thumbnail that got my point across. Thanks for watching.
@@DOSStorm it's OK. Keep up the good work. Your production and overall presentation warants a higher subscriber count. ;)

put an umbrella in front of your light, so you won't have such hard lightining
