My favorite parts of these demakes are seeing the video game character act like a real player is pressing the inputs. Tiny things like the change of direction or pauses feel so realistic to how a person plays a video game. Also the pixel shading is beautiful in this! Fantastic work :)
I would actually say that is what is lacking. No missing jumps, all jumps feeling inconsistent height wise, almost no breaks but always slow walking (kind of like scripted E3 demos)... Looks and sound are perfect, but the gameplay/movement looks like pure animation to me
@@lshalo3 that's pretty consistent with how this game works, jumps are different height because in game it just gives you a button prompt when you can jump up somewhere...
@@ceasarcruz8312 I get that, but it wouldnt make much sense to take that aspect into a gameboy era platforming game, it just feels off At least to me, I should add.

Absolutely NOVA! The captured the look and feel of Stray and then perfectly translated it into OG Gameboy code, or perhaps they asked Dr. Who to send Stray's development team back in time 30 years? Either way, its very impressive how remarkably true to the original this turned out! Bravo!
Impressive shader work and respect for the pixel grid and other limitations. Even limiting the fluidity of the idle animation to the tail, wich seem possible in the original. Really top work.
I had a gameboy back in the day, I played a lot of games on it so I know exactly how it was. And I really can’t believe this wasn’t an actual game until I saw your channel and comments. I genuinely feel it is a real game from Game boy, everything looks so legit and accurate. Unbelievable

@@64Bits Oh my god. I'm periodically making music for over a year already (i think) and my music is still disgusting. Maybe i need some lessons or something...
You guys are nailing these! It’s just too bad they’d never work on a real Gameboy. Your videos assume an LCD panel that has a much higher refresh rate and contrast than the original GameBoy could ever achieve. For example, the gray backgrounds you have would tend to be reworked to “white” with some light decorations. That would allow the player to have some sense of where the player sprite and enemy sprites are located. Without that lack of background, the entire screen would turn into a blurry mess that would be impossible to see.
