There's a very beautiful contrast to the way this orchestra plays. every song played almost teleports me to the 40s when Benny Goodman and Glen Miller were very popular. To think, I was not even born in that era. I am so impressed with the details every instrument that took part in all of these styles of music.
I especially love that Tokyo Kosei's arrangements embraces the idioms and the genre style for all of the instruments! What I sometimes hear with some of the Pop Orchestra arrangements is that the rythms and sometimes even the ad lib solos in the instruments played gets watered down, simplified - this is especially bad with the orchestral string parts. No, Tokyo Kosei should be the benchmark of all jazz arrangements.
