One of my favorite performances from Whitney! It was the year 2000 and that is when all the rumors about the drug use started. There were a string of incidents that happened prior to this performance and this was like her come back performance. People were wondering how she was going to sound? Would she show up? etc. She came on that stage and ripped it from start to finish. That was a part of her magic. The media and tabloids would try to tear her down and she would come on stage and shut them all down. The absolute GREATEST, Whitney was!
People are weird. She was on a major world tour just the year before. Where tf they expected her voice to go?😂
@@MrSoulshock44 Well what happened was she was stopped at an Hawaii airport with marijuana in her luggage and she boarded her plane anyway and it made the media outlets. Her and Rosie O Donnell were having little spats during the Grammy rehearsals, she was then kicked off the Oscars that same year for erratic behavior and forgetting the lyrics to 'somewhere over the rainbow' and then she did an interview with Jane magazine and the author of that article said Whitney seemed high and then she jumped out of a limo looking kind of disheveled waiting for Bobby to be released from jail. So with all of that happening, there were so many media reports and tabloid stories out about her. It was non stop Whitney/Drug coverage. They dubbed the year 2000 as Whitney's troubled times. So people and fans were worried about her and in May 2000 she came on stage here and showed the world why she is called THE VOICE! Crazy thing is, even on the media coverage of this show they were saying she talked the words rather than sing and the background singers did all the work. THEY LIED! It was like a smear campaign on Whitney Houston.
I understood, it was Whitney Houston, soon a woman, black, human, intelligent, fun who could never be herself in any place or situation. 20 years of career was not enough, she had to submit, it was like a big blackmail
Drugs were a part of her life long before this video unfortunately.
She sounded magnificent and looked PERFECT here. She was the real deal !!! ❤❤❤
