What I find to be ironic is just how much MORE sanitary you can be processing your own meat in your backyard. It’s without a doubt the best way in every aspect! Y’all are doing great work on sow the land.

I grew up on a chicken farm, 3000 chickens. They would chop off the heads and the chicken would run up a tree. We did the hot water dip and then plucked by hand.
I didn't see how you killed your chickens, but your setup was so organized. I am sure you were as gentle as you could be in killing them. I thought saying a prayer was equally as thoughtful.
Love your show, love your family, love your methods.

I used to help a woman that kept us, that had huge chicken farm. She used a clothes line and would do a bunch at a time. We got the awesome task of plucking them for some reason 😳 Was very educational, just like your videos. Bring back a lot of memories. Especially getting whacked by roosters and hens. 😁 Your process is more refined than 45 years ago. 😉

Did we watch the same video? They didn’t show half the process. Just the nice parts and little of that even. Video was a waste of time. What was they doing? Trying to rosy glow butcher day or teach how to wash a bike? It’s nothing like this. It’s gross bloody and tiring. Great job guys for giving wrong impression. Don’t bother you’ll learn more from a book.

@@maxwell47real15 guess you never learned manners........if you can't say anything nice.........MOVE ON, There are lots of other channels out there.. They don't show the whole thing because you tube will take down the video because the cry babies out in the world don't want to see that part of it. If you think you can do better........have at it, oh thats right.......you don't have a channel, you just criticize others while hiding behind your computer screen.

Love the video! Trying to learn all we can about this process. As we are considering raising chickens for meat and I have been apprehensive about it. Love that you give thanks to the Lord for the lives the chickens were basically giving for you. Idk, it just gives respect for living things and acknowledging the sacrifices. Hope I’m not being weird but that’s what it said to me.

We have discovered a great way to raise our tables a few inches which helps tremulously on everyone’s backs. (Art could probably benefit since he is tall and has the baby on his back.) Cut (measured) lengths of plastic piping to put on each leg of the table. Raising the table a bit helps so you don’t have to lean slightly forward while processing the birds.
Thanks for the video. We are processing tomorrow!

A new subscriber here. I also subscribe among others to the Art and Bri channel as well as the Justin Rhodes channel. I live in the mountains of central PA but do not homestead myself. Age and ailments keep me from doing it any more. Isn't just amazing the generosity of homesteaders whether it is an object animal or their time just to help you do a big job. That is what life should be. I rejoice in you giving thanks in a prayer also.

Love your channel! This was such a wonderful, peaceful and calm butchering. I've watched many butcherings, so I can learn to do for the family, and they kick up the stress in my house - guess we are bouncing off the butchering energy or perhaps the fear of not doing things correctly, humainly, accidents, etc.? But I must say you folks take calm to a new level, thank you.

I would like to know more about the shrink wrap plastic. I've never done that before. Where do you get the plastic and what product would I look for? What did you use to tie it? Did you say you poke a hole in the bag before dipping it in the water? It looks like a great system. Well done!
