    This is hands down, a beautiful timepiece. Also, i do not consider it to be overpriced compared to say Tag Heuer's and Omegas. It is just as nice as the other brands.

      Absurdly overpriced, for so many reasons. It’s a fashion piece, for starters. This is Casio’s statement for overcharging.

    Well done.
    But I don't understand the hesitation to recommend this watch.
    I wear mine in the hardest desert climate the middle east has to offer. And I have no fear of it ever malfunctioning or making me late for an appointment.
    It's a tool watch.
    Not a dress watch.
    Yes, I use all the functions and information this watch has to offer.
    Yes, nobody I know cares about it or asks how much it costs.
    Yes, it's expensive.
    Yes, buy one, it's worth every penny.
    1 of these titanium and sapphire beauties for two grand, or, 10 lesser G-Shocks for two hundred each?
    Good luck on your watch journeys ya'll.
    Nice one Rob! Great vid!

    Was once interest in buying a Rolex or Omega.when i discovered that they need servicing every 4 years due to an oil/rubber seal and that that Rolex didnt pass test for moon flight and learn that basicly they are museum pieces and obsolete tech which professionals dont use anymore went to buy a Casio Protrek 650 solar and a Casio Protrek WSD F20 battery GPS both for use at work.The Rangeman GBR B1000 was not available in stores yet. 😁 couldnt be happier.Previously i had a Titanium Tissot which constantly got shocked and stop working and before that i had a Swatch stainless steel and before that a Citizen automatic.The Casios beats all them in term of durability, weight ,reliability and technology!I feel sorry for people who still get fooled into buying those obsolete watches which tennis player wear.😐

    This watch is what a watch was made to do. It tells the time, in the most accurate way possible.
    G-Shock made this timepiece, with modern material technology, modern timekeeping technology, and made at a level of craftsmanship that brings awe. Fantastic durability to boot.
    It's a testament to modern timekeeping technology all around. It is my dream watch.

    I have no problem understanding why these sorts of watches exist, and more to the point why they can be appreciated for what they are, because I know what it is to be an audiophile. Now, _that's_ a hobby that can just about universally freak many people out who would otherwise never bat an eye at spending large dollars on all sorts of other things that are "OK" to spend money on. :)
    People like what they like for themselves first and foremost, and the moment they do not is when they're actually in trouble.

    Casio has always built hand made watched that look very masculine, sexy, rugged, modern and most importantly DETAILED watched for the last 15 years. And I'm speaking of this line and this series here is the epitome of MASCULINE built watches that is on another level vs rolex and those type of watches. GPS only ever engages if you do it manually, or if it doesn't connect to multi-band six over the previous night. (It has four goes at multiband-six, so if you are in an area for it you are OK.) The batteries are excellent in these solar-powered atomic watches. I have three. One is fourteen years old and still holds a full charge which lasts months or a year. They charge up overnight in front of a low-energy bulb, if you put them 2cm away. (They don't get hot at that distance.) That watch is old and ugly though, so I never wear it besides rough stuff. My second Is a rubber one, and still holds a full charge. My third is the black one of the above MR-G. It takes longer to charge, but I don't know why. Either the battery is larger or it has a smaller solar-receptor. I think it's most likely a larger battery compared to my other watches, because this watch has a second hand. Plus that GPS time-sinc, if you ever need it. Battery life is still months though. However it could be longer, but I don't know as I never let battery power go less than upper medium charge. I saw two years on the Casio website. Not sure if that is if you take the watch off though, and it the hands go to sleep.

    Those G shocks are premium to a high standard. Absolutely a great choice if you have the money. G shock does not overprice! If anything they underprice in comparission to the swiss industry. if its expensive its for a good reason.

    • @echandirohrmoser3183
      @echandirohrmoser3183 4 года назад +4

      Totally agree.
      The top of the G-Shock lines are expensive for the features they have, and for the things they can do, not because of the "name".
      If there is anything I refuse to pay money for, is for a name.
      Many uninformed people pay hundreds of dollars buying fashion watches because of the name, believing that because it was so expensive it has to be good.
      Let's take the example of Daniel Wellington. Many people that know nothing about watches think it's a good watch. And because the watches is shamelessly sold at the price of 350USD they think it must be good.
      Well, those same watches can be found at 9 dollars at alibaba.com, only without the DW painted on the dial.
      So, people who bought DW, paid 97% of the price for a "name" printed on the dial of a generic chinese watch.

    I also have the same model MRG-G1000-1ADR. The shape is very handsome, the function is very practical, and it is a titanium alloy shell of aerospace material. Rob, are you able to find the time to wear all of your G shocks? I’m asking because you clearly love them, but I sense that you are collecting in part to “have” them, as opposed to limiting your collection to what you actually wear on a regular basis. Either way is legitimate, they are just different ways to collect.
    When you pulled out the MTG and put next to MRG, the question for me is, has the MRG basically pushed the MTG off your wrist? When you buy a more expensive and better finished version of an otherwise similar watch, that’s often what happens. I’m wondering if there’s something unique about the MTG for you, other than the simple price/quality point, that keeps it in rotation for you?

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  4 года назад +2

      I wear most of the G-SHOCK. More watches the less wrist time they all get though. And no the more expensive models actually get less wrist time.

    • @desire68frogman98
      @desire68frogman98 4 года назад +1

      Random Rob this is a great topic for a discussion and one that I’m actually passionate about. I feel that for me, its personality driven. I say that, meaning, there are a few pieces in my collection that don’t get worn often but i love the fact that i have them in the collection. I could sell them and keep only what i really wear often but that would not be me being true to myself. I’m sure there are others out there like me who don’t even wear a watch sometimes which seems crazy when you have a collection of 10, 20,30 plus watches. Its all part of the fun in collecting.
      Sometimes i try to explain this to none watch enthusiasts and we trip up at the very first hurdle, why do we need more than one watch? Well if you have to ask that question, the conversation is really pointless. We as collectors do so many things that are way out of the ordinary from having 5x the same watch in different colours to the infamous “rebuy” something that i don’t actually promote or do by the way. I have a very lovely and special MTG, its the Magma Ocean 35th anniversary edition. As special as this is, i will also be buying an MRG and i will say this, neither one of these pieces will see any more or less wrist time than the other. They are both unique and just as wrist worthy to me and both have a place in my collection. I’m rambling on now but like i said earlier, great topic for a discussion.

      Low brand premium is probably a better way of putting it.

    Wait, we have to justify watch purchases now? Anyway, I have very small wrists and I would love it if they made some smaller models and not put baby-G on them.

    Does seem a bit expensive for a Casio. There's so much you can buy for that.

    I bought one of these watches about a year ago. I have watch collections. I kept it in the box for about a year and now that I took it out today it’s not working it was a brand new watch when I bought it. Would you have any ideas why it’s not working?

    If they weren't so thick I would consider it. At that price point it should shave at least 3mm... kinda looks goofy at that thickness.

    Dude, I am at the stage in my life where I don't care what other people think. Watch philosophy? That gets a little weird for me. But I did like getting the basics from this video. I wish it had a screw down caseback. But 2G is out of my price point for a quartz watch. I hover in the 350-500 price range for my "high end" quartz watches. To each their own.
