I never thought of that. When I first got my cat Tiger-J as a kitten, I thought he was a girl so I named him Jenny. When he turned out to be a boy, I changed it to Tiger-J.
My cat is named Merlin. He was named by the shelter that Rescued him and we couldn't decide on anything better. It firs him really well...but maybe Houdini would have been better in his pre-Chonk days!😂

My cat has an unusual and unique name... Cait Sith. He is named for the Scottish folklore cat who is king of all cats. In Scottish Gaelic it literally means cat fairy and is pronounced Cat Shee. This is a great name for a black cat with a small white patch on its chest/neck. The legendary Cait Sith also has a scar on its ear which my cat ended up having! The legend states that you left out some food for him on Halloween to ensure his protection for the coming year. Vermin would be eliminated from your Croft, the health of your animals would be good and food and money would be plentiful. Failure to do so would have the opposite affect, resulting in famine, mice and rats would invade your grain store and the loss of your resources to earn money.

Felix. I have a Felix. Actually he's in the spirit world now, but he's still very much around. Felix means happiness in Latin, which is still the same in Portuguese and Spanish (feliz = happy, felicidade = happiness), but it also means cat (Latin: felis catus = cat). So a Felix is a happy cat. My Felix sure was always happy and he knew he was loved - and he still knows that, hence he is never far away. And he does look like the catfood Felix by the way - he's one beautiful cat!

He is a stocky, muscular blonde cat with a very crooked tail! I love Scurvy and his name. Some of the other neighbors do not like the name and they call him something they made up, but he will always be Scurvy to me and his keepers.
Needieboy. Because he was dumped in a cardboard box with his siblings barely alive, with impetargo and approximately 3-4 weeks old. He was very much under weight and believed to be the runt. I thought he had been thrown from a passing cat. I thought someone 4:00 had cut his tail off. Because he had longer legs in the back he hopped so knowing that if he was left there he would be hit by a car or starved. I took him home and he became our 2 pound kitty who now at 13; weighs about 14 pounds and is named Cabbit.
I named my boy Otis, after an episode of Married with Children or the movie Animal House (Not after the elevator company). He seems to like it and responds to it immediately. If I were to ever get him a buddy, I would name him Nunzio so that I could then have all his toys kept in Nunzio's Knuckle Room.
