Robin you make very nice videos. Easy to follow. When I watch other’s videos, sometimes they jiggle the camera so much it makes me dizzy and I can’t continue to watch. Or with the unnecessary music blasting. 😩 Thank you for not doing all that. 🥰
I like sewing with stripes! I still need to finish my Gravity quilt top that is made from primarily the same fabrics as my finished Nebula quilt top. Out of the 18 accent blocks, 6 blocks use one of the two striped fabrics that I chose from my stash. (Each block uses 6 to 7 fabrics divided into 6 color groups. The stripes belong in multiple groups.) I was organizing and cleaning my sewing area while watching this video so it was easy to count stripes in my semi-current sewing project. We are working on getting the house ready by Monday night for listing photos on Tuesday so I am doing a lot of organizing, packing, and cleaning for the next few days. Then the house needs to stay show ready until it sells. (Fortunately the garage can be full of boxes, furniture, and pet stuff! ) The larger projects are going on hold. The smaller projects will be available for "sanity crafting" until our next move. These will primarily be my origami and nålbinding projects. This comment written during a well needed break! 😉🙂😀🤣
You’ve been busy for a bit now. You earned a break. Now back to work 🤣🤣 I’ve come to enjoy stripes very much too. You’re approaching the final steps. I hope your house sells quickly. 🤞🙏 I kept out some small projects too. Mostly to force myself to work on them during this in between time. Of course the crafty part of my brain wants to work on projects that are in storage 😜
@@rsislandcrafts Our daughter's realtor was here a couple hours ago. He was very happy with the changes we made since last year (paint, landscaping, etc.). He made suggestions for getting ready for the photo session Tuesday. One house we are considering could be finished in July. Hoping it works out. 🤞
Loved this tutorial when you first did it years ago and I still love how you teach. I gotta get that tool. I used the pliers and cloth method and no where near as nice as yours. Blessings.
Awesome. Glad I could help! Happy Sewing! ✂️. PS I also have a video with different hardware if you’re interested. m.ruclips.net/video/g6rvKFZ5mLQ/видео.html&pp=ygUWUnNpc2xhbmRjcmFmdHMga2V5IGZvYg%3D%3D
I’m not familiar with that model brother sewing machine. If you like Brother sewing machines then I recommend sticking with them or trying out a Juki model. I love my Juki HZL F-600. I also love using my Brother CS6000i. I make quilted items and quilted bags on both machines but the Juki is more powerful and has more room for quilting. There are smaller Juki HZL models and other Juki sewing machines available. When buying a new sewing machine I always recommend to pause for a minute and think about what you sew now and what you hope to sew in the next few years. If you’re a quilter then a machine with a large throat plate is nice to have. Maybe you’re a bag maker. Then you’ll need a powerful machine. If you’re able to go to a store and test out some machines that can be helpful. See what feels good for you. I hope that helps a little. Good luck finding your next machine.
Stripes are fun, and so are other patterns. I need to come up with a key fob that doesn’t require the hardware, since I only need one. I don’t know if a button hole through both sides would work or not.
There should be a link in the description box to a key fob using just a key ring. No special hardware. I used a lobster hook but you can use a regular key ring.
Perfect time to a ask you a question. I always follow your advice about stitch length because your work I’ve purchased from Etsy looks so neat and professional. Is there any way to make your 2.0 stitch length permanent with a Juki or do you have to reset it everytime you sew? I figure it might be possible to save it in the Juki’s memory but I think there ought to be some way to just set it. I love anything multi-colored, striped or random irregular polka dotted.
With my Juki I can’t auto set stitches. When I switch to the 1/4” seam stitch It is automatically set at a 2.0 stitch length. I’ve just gotten into the habit of changing to what I like based on each project or part of a project. Now that doesn’t mean It can’t be done but I’ve never come across It while watching videos for my machine or reading the manual.
@@rsislandcrafts I think you’re right, stitch length can’t be set in a random way because Jukis operate with such a complex system of stitch patterns that must work together or you’d have accidents, crashes, etc. You just have to get in the habit of setting the stitch length you want each time. My problem is I love using the patchwork foot and the patchwork foot doesn’t work with the 1/4” seam allowance setting. Oh well! You can’t have everything I’m told. Don’t know why that is but that’s what people say. Thanks for your quick answer. I’ve been going crazy trying to figure it out.
Are the key fob pliers with straight jaws or do they have a slight curve? I ordered a pair and they have a curve and they're not placing equal pressure when clamping down.
Doesn’t the teeth of the key fob grab both pieces of the fabric with its teeth? And when you squeeze them together it locks together? If not, how does it work then? Thank you
The teeth are only on one side. They’re not long enough to go through all layers of fabric. Yes, the teeth are meant to hold onto one side and when you squeeze the two sides together It should lock together and not move. Unfortunately for various reasons there’s a large number of people that have had the fabric pull out of the clamp. That’s why I take the extra steps to hopefully avoid the issue of the fabric pulling out. I have not had that problem with the key fobs that I’ve made for myself or my family but I like to take the extra steps just in case. I hope that helps to answer your question.
@@rsislandcrafts ok it’s good to know. It’s happened to me too, but I thought I was doing something wrong. I start using gorilla glue with them also. Maybe that will help. Thank you
