Influential French composer Claude Debussy wrote his music in the 19th and 20th centuries, but his work is still celebrated today. This year, France is marking the centenary of his death with a series of concerts. Irish pianist Thérèse Fahy is leading those performances. She sat down for a chat with FRANCE 24 about why Debussy was so radical, her own musical career, and whether classical music is too inaccessible.
You can catch the final performance of Ireland’s Tombeau to Debussy on October 26, 2018.
It’s at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, 5 Rue des Irlandais, 5ème at 7:30 pm.
The programme includes Debussy's Children’s Corner Suite and his dazzlingly virtuosic piece L’Isle Joyeuse.

Such an intelligent and graceful interview by Ms. Fahy!

Another day another reason for France24 to be a channel in its own right on Australian free to air television and or Australian pay television.

Dreadful idea to get a total amateur, therese fahy, to comment on a great composer. She has no piano technique, no tone, no colour, no anything. Why is anyone asking her opinion on music? Learn how to play the piano first before you speak.
