Growing up in Canada (Kamloops, British Columbia to be precise - a six-hour drive through the mountains to Calgary, Alberta, The Stampeders' hometown), I heard lots of Stampeders songs on the radio. They weren't as big as The Guess Who, nor did they have as many hits/anthems, but I thought The Stampeders made better albums. Their earlier stuff was more country-rock, and then they changed to a heavier style similar to BTO. Other great songs of theirs include Devil You, Wild Eyes, Carry Me, Oh My Lady, Julia Get Up, Running Wild, Ramona and an excellent cover of Gary US Bonds' hit New Orleans. They broke up around 1980, but got back together in the early 90s and have been together ever since.
This song is as Canadian as you can get! Right up there with hockey, cold winters and poutine! Thank you for bringing back a sweet song from my childhood!

They're classified as Rock, but I think they have a rockabilly sound.
Sweet city woman takes me back home with my mom an dad sisters an brother brings back such good memories I still remember the words to this song thank you for playing this song oldie but goodie
great 1960s-1970s Canadian band - their song "Wild Eyes" is great too, and "Hit the Road Jack"
Also Carry Me
Saw the title and HAD to stop and watch your reaction. Haven't heard this song in many, many years. Still sounds good and puts a smile on my face. Thanks for keeping good music alive!!
This band was great live and so friendly...🇨🇦🖖🏻🥰💥
Mundo Jerry's song "In the Summertime" has a banjo jamming in it.
He has to react to that! My brothers sang that all the time.
I saw the Stampeders in the 1970s as a teenager in Regina. Glad you found this band. Cheers.
my favourite Stampeders song is
“Carry Me “, check it out
That's my favee song of theirs too.
oh my Lady
@@lawrencesilver4661 My fav of the band. That opening harmonica just sends me...
Another song that transported me to 1973ish. My mom driving the old 57 chevy blasting this on her A.M. radio and singing along.
Their song Wild Eyes was fairly big in Canada
So cool, love your reaction!! All these years later, and I just found out that the Sweet City Woman singing group is Canadian! Heck, I was a little kid in 1971, and this takes me back to happier days of fun and a happier time of life. BTW- I never saw that album cover, and never saw a picture of the group. I guess they're a one hit wonder!! See, I was born in the city, so I was a Sweet City Woman, but now I am grown and live out in the country. It feels so good to know she waits at the end of the line! That was such a sweet song. I sort of forgot about it. Love your sweet reaction!
They had a minor US hit with a cover of Ray Charles "Hit The Road Jack".
That's a blast from the past! You just keep reminding me of songs that I had forgotten! I never knew who the artists were for this song. Now I'm singng along!
A great summer song
I forgot all about this song! Thank you for playing it. It's a great old 70s song from my High School years.
Thank you again
"You Told Me" by The Monkees is another rocker with a prominent banjo part (and a zither thrown in for good measure).
This song was on the radio all the darn time when I was little. I loved it. It was catchy, the lyrics were easy on the ears and it just had good vibe.
Reminds me of Expo 74 in Spokane, Washington when I was 10 years old.
did they play there?
Was there also, went to high school in Springdale
@@thomaswhipple6060 that's very cool. I'm listening from Spokane this morning myself. Enjoying a beautiful day.
@@AI-mg3hy No, The song was very popular at the time on the radio

Went to their concert in 1971. Great band and very popular in Canada. Lots of hits! There were some excellent bands here back in the 70s and 80s.
Another Canadian trio. Check out Wild Eyes by them. 🇨🇦✌
I'm always happy to hear this on the radio. Such a bright, groovy song
Keep the Canadian jams coming... how about Trooper- We’re Here for a Good Time.... or Raise a Little Hell?
I shared "Two for the Show" and my mom just loved it.
Love the first 2 albums from '75 and '76.. Great tunes.. "Don't Stop Now", "Roller Rink", "Ready", and "What's Gonna Happen Now"..
Toronto's "Your Daddy Don't Know." One of my favourites. Gotta crank it whenever I hear it. 😊🎸
The way you were moving and reacting while the song was playing is exactly what a song like this is meant to do Jamel!
This seems like a song ripe for being in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie
Absolutely yes
