So much genius, from Andrew sneaking in the word Zenith to general observations, George claiming to have a budget for watches and Adrian pretending to be interested in non-Rolex watches; plus a cameo by Andrew Morgan! EFT are the rock stars of the watch-review world. Even if he's not on screen, you know Marcus is there- thank goodness.

The Rolex museum on the history of the Daytona is pretty epic , I saw it when it was at Le Mans for the 24 hour race back in June this year and I thought it amazing to see all those Daytonas in one place and normal mortals like me don’t get to see all of those watches in one place like that

I totally agree the MB&F as first and the Van Cleef as second. Both gave me that "wow holy shit" moment. The winding by rotating the case and the 12 o'clock kiss both bowled me over.

Has anyone noticed more of these brands have been offering some kind of customized aspects for certain watches. Like van cleef and many others. So being able to customize a timepiece is something I think is needed in the watch space.

    • @brysoga

From a personal standpoint I agree, I love being able to customise a watch. Some people don't agree though, some people think if you're paying a manufacturer for a watch you're paying for them to design it 100%

    1) THIS is precisely why you guys are such an incredible team: zero arrogance, zero elitism, zero unnecessary sophistication- just pure love and enjoyment of watches and the community they’ve created. Individually, you’re all accomplished in your own ways, but at the heart of it, you’re obviously just 3 watch lovers that always convey the undaunted enthusiasm of, “We can’t believe we’re here, seeing this and doing this! Let’s enjoy it all before they realize they made a mistake and kick us out!”😂 It’s the very same enthusiasm the rest of us would have if we were in your place! We’re living it through your eyes and through your little adventures, as if we’re right there with you! THANK YOU!
    2) Ignoring the price, I’d give the UN Freak the overall prize. The unique design, materials and case size are all winners in my book, but the strongest indicator is the feeling it creates, the way your gut reacts to it, from the first introduction. I know how I felt when I saw it, and it sounds like you all felt a similar way about the UN, until you factored the price tag. But since price wasn’t a major factor in your ranking system, I’d probably reevaluate your final Talley! 😉
    3) Speaking of pricing, yes, the UN Freak pricing does seem outlandish, but only because it’s older siblings are considerably more affordable by direct comparison. Coincidentally, Omega just pulled an identical stunt with the Ti PO GMT! Deep Black ceramic GMT and the like are $12k but the Ti- sorry, the “new” Ti- is offered at a $10k premium? Tough sell without better explanation/marketing of the upgrade.
    4) I haven’t seen mention of Toto’s flash-reveal of his new IWC Big Pilot Perpetual over the Las Vegas F1 weekend?? A full ceramic case and bracelet in AMG Teal?? Not something I’d wear, but a stunner, none the less!👍

A great video, but the price is completely relevant. The Ulysse Nardin watch is "taking the piss on price" and I also think that there's nothing wrong with offering a criticism on price. Some watches are beautiful and can be admired in spite of their price, but I don't even have that reaction with that Ulysses Nardin watch.
I think the watch world is, because of it trending so well at present, losing sight of price. If it's becoming merely about playthings for the ridiculously wealthy, what's the point? I think Andrew's point was completely en point, and he was right to make it.

Andrew, 💯 - once I see a price that’s just not reasonable, all interest is gone - and for me this yr: The IWC Ingenieur you 3 were tenting over. The Genta design only goes so far. That price is beyond comprehension.
    MB&F - that’s incredible. Easy winner.
Attended DWW - was enjoyable. One subject I’d hoped you’d touch on - the no shows. First and foremost Richard Mille. What the bleep are they thinking shunning this region?

    • @JG-ib7xk
      @JG-ib7xk 8 месяцев назад

They're not shinning the region, they know they don't need to attend DWW. Their watch sales won't change at all if they attend or if they don't. There's no point on them wasting millions of dollars to attend and build a stand, for literally no return. They're so popular in that region of the world already as it's a region that focuses on showing off wealth more than anything else, more than artistry, more than engineering prowess, more than style. RM are the epitome of the mindset of that region already, they don't need to advertise there.

Love your show guys! One little point on Rolex. The brand at watches and wonders in Geneve last year had exactly the same stand, animation, round booth with the daytona history, video etc. Surprisingly you seem so suprised about the stand of Rolex in Dubai(!?)😂😂😂 ...Regarding the fact that Rolex is being open on the use of the Zenith movement. They should inform that not only the movement was Zenith but even that specific hand's type from the Daytona is a Zenith's invention! They took off the date complication and lowered the frequency which resulted in 300 customizations I guess 😂. It's fine to pay your respect to the king 🤴, I totally get it! Even though I am honestly fed up with their waiting list game and the seconary market speculation...

Well, collector Josh on Grey & Patina - he owns one of the first 6542 - once indicated that watches should remain attainable. If the prices are stratospheric, then it is only for the top wealthy, not for true passionate watch lovers. Manufacturers have become unreasonable.

All Ulysse Nadin watches have crazy prices. Their diver 42 is £6k with a Selita movement. Pretty watch, but not £6K pretty. Their other dive watches have mad prices as well.

This video is the first you've put out that I didn't make it all the way through. There is nothing relatable, achievable, obtainable here.
I enjoy seeing watches I can't afford, it's aspirational. But most of these watches cost more than a family home, and frankly I just found it exhaustingly vulgar.
Not a reflection of you guys, perhaps a reflection of Dubai culture, definitely a reflection of the most indulgent and exclusionary part of the wonderful world of watches.

What the hell guys - your run through of the Rolex booth and thr experience made me think of them as a watch brand for the first time. If Rolex take heed from your thoughts, it might be whats needed to prepare them for the next phase of the watch industry (incoming downward price pressure).
The different (positive) feel of DWW demonstrates the need for bigger watch events outside Switzerland. I guess US are building this with the Windup Watch Fair. Would be great to have something for Asia Pacific

Just took delivery of the black dial 2023 ingenieur. OMG its f'ing stunning on the wrist. Looking at tool /sports watch to finish collection. Considering the jlc polaris date (blue lacquer face). FYI - Have steel bracelet / steel bezel black face daytona, Omega seamaster (2011 sword hands), IWC spifire chrono, tudor GMT opaline face, graham swordfish ang G-shock RAF special edition. What you think, or do you have an alternative you'd look at? budget GBP12k. Any suggestions anyone?
