There are no laws that specifically allow photography because the way law works in the UK is that if it's NOT against a law then it's allowed. So being that photography in a public space is NOT against the law, then it's allowed, simple as that.
Yeah, the best question to ask is what law forbids me from taking photos? That's why police,bailiffs etc etc can use bodycams. There is no laws forbidding it.

I'm in security, mate. We are not told to question photographers. If they are trained properly the guidance is : 1 - Approach and ask if assistance is required. In a customer focussed manner. 2 - Give assistance if requested. 3 - If no assistance is required, leave and monitor remotely. 4 - Do not say that taking pictures, or filming, is illegal. It is not. That's the guidance from NaCTSO, mate. In a nutshell, obviously. This guy is a poorly trained, aggressive arsehole.
