- Here are some instructions on how to replace the single bulb that illuminates the P R N D 2 L next to the gear shifter. I used a Soft White T10 8SMD LED bulb to replace it. Below is a link to an auction offering 10 of these type LED bulbs. If you search you may be able to find them cheaper or in greater quantities as I also used them in the dash behind the cluster. I also included a link to the bulbs I used in the HVAC controls.

Hey RACS IT, thanks for your video. I have a 1998 T Camry automatic. Your video helped every step of the way. It took me two hours to move the plastic gear menu part (not the outside plastic cover) away from the clips. I watched and watched your video multiple times. There was a critical part where I needed to pry to loosen the plastic part from the back and it was at that moment in your video that the bottom of your camera was just showing a little of what you were doing. That was actually one of the most important parts of your video that was not shown very good. But in any event, I was able to pry the part and move it up the gear stick. At first I could not see very good how to remove the light connector. I was trying to pry on the wires and then on the edge of the black connector. Eventually, it dawn on me to turn and pull it from the very top where the socket connects the top and the socket with the bulb came out to my surprise. Luckily, I had bought the right number , Sylvania 74, so that I did not have to go back to Auto Zone to exchange it. I had seen another video and the bulb was a lot bigger. But the one I bought, was just right. Thank you, thank you, thank you. After a while I almost gave up and said, I'll take it to the dealer.
And now for the fan/heater bulb change .... on the Toyota Camry 1998.
First cover came of easy second one around gearstick
Fuck it took a long time to remove
I've been putting off changing mine for weeks because I couldn't find instructions!
This was super helpful, thank you!
Yes, this video will help many people including myself...thx. for sharing!!! Short and very clear instructions!!!
I have a 2000 Toyota Camry LE. I have changed brake and taillights, trunk light, dome light, turn signal lights, and headlights to led lights. The flasher had to be changed as well. Haven't changed my dashboard lights, air and heater lights, glove box lights yet. The bulb size you need is 194's and 74's. I bought them at Super Bright LEDs. I used Sylvania Super Bright leds for outside lights they work fine. Thanks for the video prefect.
Thanks.
Before anyone orders a new light I suggest you have a go at removing the old one first.
I have a 1999 Camry in Australia, the hole the bulb slides into is too small for the LED so I replaced with old fashioned one.
Australian Camry's have a different way of mounting the light under the unit.
No screw, and couldn't get the unit out all the way.
I did manage to get my hands under the gear guage and drop the long thin prism that holds the bulb out to give access to the bulb.
Just fixed the gear shifter light on my 2001 camry. It was tricky to pry the cover. I pried the bottom, left bottom and right bottom (similar to video at ~3'00"). Thank so much for the video!
My son's 2000 Camry LE V6... problem identified, but the bulb is not a 194. The bulb has the green cover, is a bayonet/push-in, with the base is 1/2 the width of the 194. Should be the mini T5/74 Thanks for the instructions!
Thanks for posting. Helped us decide which bulbs to get for our 2000 Candy CE
I was going to pull on the shifter base assembly after removing the one screw, but didn't because I was afraid of breaking something. Thanks for the video!
When I replaced the climate control lights in my Honda with LEDs, they were too bright, so I scribbled over the end of it with one of those industrial sharpies that can withstand 400°F. It worked great!
Very much appreciated!!! Been going nuts trying to find this darn bulb and luckily I did not break any of the plastic components.
This video has helped somebody...thanks much man and be blessed
Thanks VERY much. The shifter light in my 2001 is out. Very helpful.
Thank you for the video, what bulb type was it? Is it also a 194 bulb?
I thought it was going to be a lot harder than this. Thank you!
Whew getting that last cover to get to the bulb was a toughy! I got one side loose, but had to fight for the other side. Get video. Thank you it helped a lot.
I just bought one of these cars and this is helpful. I noticed that my light does work but if I hit a bump in the road it will turn off. If I smack it it will turn back on. Maybe it’s just lose... thanks for the vid
Yes it did thanks to you I can now replace this blub because I wasn’t sure how to open that up.
A brother from another mother.
Thanks for the video it's helpful. 👍👌
Thank you video was very helpful
Спасибо за обзор и привет с Odessa!)
Can u please do a video on replacing the lights on the climate control dials
what about the transition indicators on ur instruments between the fuel and the temperature
Tanks you saves me a lot of money 😎
In the
Shift console is the light bulb the same size as the bulb in the dash.
Perfect.....a great help!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Helped me out, it happened to me the day i put 5% on my 01 slowlara (solara) thanks man
Hahahaha never heard that one but I have a solara too and I have to agree it's pretty slow lol, maybe the V6 is faster though
You should do a video on the rest of the lights dash and ac ones thanks !
You are magician
Thank you 🙏 can you tell me which bulb numbers for all bulbs mentioned here ? I am doing them all
On my 2000 Camry the bulb isnt the 194 as seen on the video, it is smaller and thinner. It is hard to remove the bulb from the base and it was also much harder to put the base into the console as there is no room for my fingers. I may have to live with this bulb not working.
My son has a 99 Camry CE. His shift indicator buld was out. With taking out the old one, we could not read the bulb number. Went to Autozone. we matched up with a 168 bulb, and it worked. Hope this helps cause I, too, was having a hard time finding the right bulb type.
Thanks man helped alot!
Thanks, Dude. It helped me terribly! ✨✨✨👌🏼

Thanks for the help
Yes sir thank you much!
@RACS IT Department ebays said this bulbs are not compatible with my 98 cam. Strange..looks like its the same in your video
Same here - says that is not the bulb for my 2001 camry. I ordered it anyway - and also got the #74 incandescent just in case.
Very helpful!
THANKS. IT HELPED ME ALOT 😸😸😸😸💪🏼💪🏼
You replaced the lights in the HVAC module? No vid? What types of bulbs does it take and how many?
I did not. I no longer have the car. It was totaled in a hit and run.
@@racsitdepartment7740 Wow! Hope you're OK! That sounds terrible. Thank you for the video. I still have my very first car a 1998 Camry, and I'll try to install the bulb tomorrow. In the description is says that the T10 bulbs are the right ones, but some people have been using the #74 bulbs. Do you think it matters?
Thank you!
Nothing pops in mine. I used more force than the person in the video and nothing happened. Tried different angles, move it in every possible way and nothing happened.
same here - afraid to force it more as plastic is 20 years old and likely brittle
Thank you! :)
Thanks much!!!!
Your videos are amazing! If you like farming or harvesting videos, I look forward to having you visit my channel to have relaxing moments together!
