You are a genius! Tried for hours to get my new sprayer work. Read the manual, browsed tons of articles and videos, and then saw your video and had it working in less than 5 minutes. 4 minutes of that was drying myself off 😂. Thanks for the contribution to helping mankind!

I have a different brand of battery-powered backpack sprayer and had the same problem. I followed your advice and now its working again. However, I went so far as to disassemble my sprayer to access the inlet and outlet ports of the actual pump. I then used a Waterpik to force water into the pump. After reconnecting everything, the sprayer was working again. Before I store the sprayer away for the winter, I will make sure to leave some water in the pump to keep it “lubricated”. THANK YOU

Unbelievable. Imagine my disappointment when my brand new Stihl battery powered sprayer would not pump! After reading the instructions cover to cover, I went on my trusty RUclips and found your video.
Though I didn’t quite backfeed the pump like you did, it was basically the same thing filling the sprayer tube and then putting my air nozzle on it and pressurizing it.
Easy as pie and took right off.
    Thanks man!

great video! I did this 2 years ago and it worked great. I put the sprayer away for 2 years then pulled it out to use it this year. Nothing. I tried the same method again. Nothing. So, I gave up and left it sit. I didn't drain the water out.
The neighbor showed up today and I showed him the sprayer that was dead. I turned it on and pulled the trigger, and it WORKED!!! Leaving it sit for a few days must have primed the pump.

Using Ryobi 4 gallon 4V chemical spray backpack, everything was put together properly, battery fully charged, etc. Tool wouldn't spray. I returned the tool and purchased a new one: same product. Of course, same issue; sprayer wouldn't spray!!! Called Ryobi tech support: 45 minute on hold wait. Used their chat, no tech help whatsoever. I saw your video. You said, "Prime the pump!" I used a hose as you demonstrated, and voila, the damn tool works fine now. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping me figure out the issue!

I bought a 24 Volt backpack sprayer two years ago. I used it once, cleaned it out, and put it away. I did not use it for one season (completely dry in the tank). In April 2021 I tried using it again, and it did not pump the solution out. I called the company and I watched youtube videos. Nothing! I decided the unit was shot!!!!! I then saw a video on youtube. The guy said just bang the unit on the ground (Not hard, and I had about 1 gal. of water in it). I did and it started to work. Try that before you throw it out........ And also, keep about one qt. of clean water in the tank when you put it away. I don't know if this is recommended, but it will keep the pump ready to go. :)

Was really happy when I ran across your video because I was having the same problem with a sprayer that I just brought home from Home Depot. Unfortunately you solution did not work for me - forced water back through the hose until the sprayer was full. Turned on the pump and no output from the sprayer hose. Will do a little more research and then back to Home Depot. Nice to see that your efforts helped so many.

I can't thank you enough. I thought it was a bad unit so I bought a second one. Lo and behold it didn't work either. I would hazard a guess that you weren't the engineer or procedure writer for this project. You would think that this Golden Nugget of information would be something that they would want to include in the owner's manual? Thanks again!

Took apart bottom carefully before doing anything with it. Gently tightened hose with regular screw driver. Gently checked all screws for tightness. They were fine. Lubed the o ring on bottom of tank inside or between tank and pump. Just enough. Then very carefully put all back together. Filled with 1 gallon water. Left water in over night to check for leaks while battery charged fully over night. Made sure in off position. Loaded battery on and turned to on position. Pointed hose end in tank and primed pump which worked perfectly out of box. Double checked for leaks and found none. Ready to go for spraying.

I have the Walmart brand Chapin. You have to make sure to filter the fluid that you pour in especially if you are mixing powders. The filters get clogged easily. Also flush the fluids out and leave a little water inside the tank. Other than that I have not had any problems.
The main issue I have with them is that the battery is exposed at the bottom. They should have done something to protect it.
