I've made this comment time and again, video after video but I'll say it again: this channel is criminally under-subbed. Most channels rehash the same ideas as a million others before them. Pseudiom always comes with an interesting, esoteric topic. So much work has to go into these scripts, and it's insane that the channel goes so unnoticed.
You can tell Burroughs was from New England because he got a ship drunk then got kicked in the head. That's basically a Dropkick Murphy's song right there.
39:28 I searched for these books proposed by Deacon Hodges but I wasn't able to find them anywhere. If these were eventually the books chosen for the library then it did nothing for their posterity. A shame too because I wanted to read "Essays on the Divine Authority for Infant Baptism"
Burroughs seems like he was a most kind of guy, there def are a lot of people with wild stories who’ve been buried by history and it’s always fun to learn about another one of them. also, just wanted to say, i originally found your channel searching for Ghost Riders in the Sky, and ever since i’ve considered it one of the best stumble upons i’ve experienced on this site, a prime example of why people really should look up stuff outside of what the algorithm recommends them
Informative as always! I had always wanted to use a persona, or concept from these videos in an RPG session, but I was beaten to it! A friend ran a dungeon based on the Library of Babal at the start of the year. I was flabbergasted her knew what it was, and him in return! Despite me shilling you to everyone, he knew of it because his current girlfriend wrote several papers on Borges.
Lol. When I DM I do the same thing. I just rewrite (read: gracefully steal) ideas from my videos into campaign elements and story arcs. I don't think I've been able to sneak any Borges elements yet though. Most of mine end up resembling something like Burroughs. I don't think I've had a single, actual dungeon in any of my DnD campaigns yet.
@@Pseudiom Your Ghost Riders video made me want to have something like it in a game, but I decided not to because I knew people would think I'm taking from The Witcher and not the real world. So... how about running a game for patron like all the cool RPG content creators do? :p
I'd like to do more with Patreons, but I honestly feel like I would not be able to deliver a good game for them. I'm too awkward interacting with people I don't know well. I also don't want to start a Discord because those usually end in tears. Maybe Pseudiom IRC channel? Maybe doing some kind of text RPG? I don't know. I'll try to figure something out for the New Year.
The Burroughs Curse almost got me.
Can't wait to watch this! One of the only youtubers who I can count on for consistent quality content.

As long as someone enjoyed it or learned something new! This video took around 36 hours to render due to crashing issues.
Very interesting, thank you for making this!
I'm just imagining him as Saul Goodman in my head
Fuck......you beat me to it.
A sort of proto-type, I suppose.

So glad to see another video from you! The story of Stephen Burroughs is a weirdly fascinating one.
sounds like a real life Lupin III
Lupin -1
I guess we could call him.....

A certain morning routine.
''they should make a movie about that''

This guy is the most American man ever
The American Dream... Scamming people and fleeing to Canada. Ah, I can see it now...
Was the conman who wrote Catch Me if you Can was inspired by Burroughs?
these persona vids are the best.. i have an oedipal relationship with dad rock.
Love this channel, incredibly underrated

Nice to have you! I'm glad you were able to stumble here.
Saul Burroughs…
Your videos are awesome! The late 18th and early 19th centuries are such a goldmine of weird larger than life characters (Timothy Dexter, for example)
honored to be the first! And glad to see you upload :)
