Dead Can Dance's first album is by far my favorite of them.

Yeah, but 4 me equally up there is Anastasis, The Serpent's Egg, & most of all the album of theirs I hold in a very special place-Aion, as it's the one I heard first of all back in 1997 in North West London in an unbelievable restaurant called Transylvania, a place that originated in Rome, that was dedicated to the Vampire mythology! Totally decked out like a scene in the Gary Oldman version of the story, it was! ☠️💀⚰️Truly atmospheric!

I was at that gig! Bradgate Road Boys Club. I can't believe there is footage. To this day, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. I recall sitting on the stage for some of it... mesmorised. It's made day finding this clip!

Flowers of the Sea is one of my favs from them. Lisa's voice was amazing then and at every live show I've been to. Just as beautiful in person as the studio recordings. Thank You

Thanks for the infos! My copy came from the US from someone who used to live in England in the 80s (at least that's what I'm told). Once fairly common in worse quality, I've been searching for this footage for years before I found this... Strange to get it from America but at least having it :)

This one comes from a private collection, supposedly being a 1st generation copy. It hasn't been released officially but the recording itself was authorized by the band at the time (1984). It is all that was filmed on the night, approx. 29 mins.

Thanks for this early gem lambbroadway. I saw the band a number of times in the 1980's and they were some of the greatest concerts I have ever seen. Would love the Bedford footage to be added to Bremen 1986 and released on DVD. The band are still excellent live but the post 1990 albums were not as good. Lisa and Joan Baez are the best live voices I have heard in over 40 years of gig going (folks check out Agnes Obel "the curse" brilliant track)

I agree. I was at this Bedford gig and to this day one of the best gigs I've ever seen (and I've now seen alot!) Can't believe there is footage of it.

@@davidfish5270 This is what you tube is for David ! you literally can time travel . Re Gigs I started in 1973 and have been to over 1000. But it looks like 2020 is going to be the first year since 1973 that I have not been to a live gig courtesy of COVID 19.
ps DCD are my second fav live band ever behind just Wall of Voodoo in 1986

@@keithbate9405 that Bedford gig was one of the first I had ever been to, but, even accounting for youthful excitement, I still remember it as one of the best I've been to. Lost count of how many I've now been to. Now....I stumbled across a band last year and a friend and I went to see them at the MOTH club in London. They are called Whispering Sons. It was a similar experience. Tiny club. Not many people, but an amazing band. I even went to see them again in the Netherlands. Belgian band, but terrific live. Just before lockdown they landed a support slot with Editors and I figured, well, I'm never gonna see them in a small venture again. When gigs start again, I highly recommend checking them out.

@@davidfish5270 I stopped going to large venues in the late 1980's. Nothing touches seeing a really good band in a small /medium sized venue. In a small venue you have a chance of meeting /speaking to the band members. I had a fascinating conversation with Lisa Gerrard after a 1987 DCD gig which I will never forgot.
I will check that band out . I support new music and artists and have done since Punk/New wave . I have always liked Editors and saw them many years ago in Birmingham. I saw a gig in Birmingham last year by LP (Laura Pergolizzi) which was my fav of the last 30 years . I think she is absolutely brilliant.
As you can see I go back a long way. But I think there is plenty of great modern music around if you are open to it. Too many people from the past calcify and say "it was all so much better in the 1960's /80's / etc.
ps I used to travel around a lot to gigs . I worked in London for a time in the early 1980's so saw loads of gigs there at many different venues (The Marquee/ Dingwalls/Camden Palace etc) . But I also used to go to Liverpool (Eric's ) or Manchester (Hacienda/ International club) if there was a band playing I really liked.
But I have been lucky gig wise . I was a member of JB's Club in Dudley from the mid 1970's (DCD also played there in 1984) until it closed a few years ago. Saw hundreds of gigs there over the years .

@@keithbate9405 I will definitely check out LP when normality returns. I went to one arena concert in the late 80s... Never again! Dreadful. And I agree, plenty of good young band around, that's how we found WS. I don't suppose we will be able to see a gig properly until a vaccine is available. I saw a chart that had gigs as the highest risk place, second only to night clubs (top because people don't typically go to gigs to find someone to snog!) 😂 Stay safe.

White shirts were mandatory for this gig. No white shirt no admittance. Hey man cool shirt, hey you too and you and you and you and you...................Before they evolved into a new age mystical act, they were referred to as a gothic music band. And they certainly did Rock !

They have toured since your last post 7 years ago, and are touring again in 2019. have you had the chance to see the them live yet ?
ps going to let you into a little secret . DCD were better live in the 1980's . The band's best albums were released between 1984/1990 IMO.
