My 1 year old 13 inch MacBook pro a2159-2019 has display flickering issue. Now I have to replace the whole lcd for a simple cable issue. Good job apple.
Hi, I know I'm writing late, but is it possible to buy a screen for a MacBook with an extended flex cable, and replace it with an old MacBook of 16-17 years? Thank you in advance for the answer
Hello i have also this problem on MacBook and i want ask what tools you use to fix your MacBook. You can write me what tools i need to buy for fixing my MacBook? Thanks!!!
There is information about fixing that issue not only in MacBook Pro 2018 but in all MacBooks assembled after end of summer 2018. Is it true ? It wold be greate to hear your opinion. tnx
Александр Миронов 3 days ago I opened the back cover of my macbook pro 2017, to see the condition of the cable, and I found my cable to be a little longer, so that there are no sharp bends when the lid is fully opened, my macbook production date is April 18, 2018, and comments on several forums say that the Macbook produced in August 2018 also gets a slightly longer cable, which is probably Apple's way to fix the flexgate problem
we've tried the +2mm cable, but it will not get the perfect curve as in 0:52, but at least it will not flex/broken as in 2016/17. we've tried +4mm cable, but it was too long and not fit the tiny space. The +3mm cable is the perfect length(perfect curve, fit the space)
@@iBoffRCC Thanks for sharing this video with us! I would like to know the height of your whole modified flex cable. I assumed that apple's original flex cable is around 4.5 cm height. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone figured out or used the "Exchange and Repair Extension Program"? The only issue I saw them fix falls under: "13-inch MacBook Pro Display Backlight Service Program". Is there one for this Flexgate issue? As described on the support.apple website, they describe the problem NOT with the horizontal lines, but rather: "'stage light' effect at the bottom of the screen or the display completely shutting off if the lid was opened more than halfway." Any advice?
This is exactly my problem, and as far as everyone in Apple if spoken to, MY problem is NOT A BACKLIGHT DISPLAY problem, and thus, is not covered by the Exchange and Repair Extension Program, let me know how it went for you. All the best.

@@4t196 not yet. The screen is very costly
Thank you for this video and info. I wish apple would take responsibility for the flaw on more than just the 13" models.

Simple and precise explanation. Thanks a lot!!
Are you saying that the 2mm Apple implemented on the 2018s still aren't long enough?
we've tried the +2mm cable, but it will not get the perfect curve as in 0:52, but at least it will not flex/broken as in 2016/17.
we've tried +4mm cable, but it was too long and not fit the tiny space.

second, i would like to know as well
This problem can occur on a Macbook pro 15 2018? since I have no video on screen.
you can try to verify by using torchlight. flash the screen to see whether still can see the display or not. or open the screen less than 45 degree
Good
does the screen/display needs to be replace as well?
if you're sending to the AASP, they will replace the screen but we only change the cable with the extended 3mm in length to solve the issue
@@iBoffRCC how much does this cost?
where can we buy this?

what should I avoid so that the problem does not occur on my 2017 MBP that I just bought ?
