Hey man I just checked out this video and I was looking for information on the new Erica synth matrix mixer.. Thanks to you I'm sold on it. You are a wealth of information. I'm sold and will be purchasing one shortly. Thanks bro for everything..
Love how you labeled your patch cables. Erica Synths almost should have included a set like yours with the Matrix Mixer or dry erase labels on the mixer.
Your Video explains this very well. Makes sense to have this for sure. 16 in's & Out's are very practical for a nice Modular setup..Thanks for sharing this...
If I missed this being discussed in the video, my apologies. I would like to know if the Matrix Mixer handles line-level instruments well. Also, if you could do a test with audio signal running from one source into one effect, then into another, and for the test have a second patch where the order of the effects is swapped, and change them on the fly to see if there is any audible noise or dropout, pops or any sort of undesired artifacts. I want to use this with synths and my guitar rig so I can have a way to share my loopers and effects with several different sound sources. For relevance to my question, all the instruments and effects I use currently play well together, so only minor audio level adjustments are typically easy to accomplish.
It does handle any level signal well. I have not experienced any pops or dropouts either, but I might do the specific experiment you mention at some time
bro, you really killed it on this. I've been wanting to get one since it came out, and now it's 3 years later! where does the time go. do you still have and use it?
Hi! Honestly, as cool as it is, I still prefer to work with patch cables, it's just better for my workflow, so it's been out of action. I also got a Syntrx2 which has the same matrix but incorporated into a hard synth, so I've been using that a lot instead of the standalone mixer.
Hi there, just found your video about the Matrix Mixer, thank you for sharing. I have this matrix mixer myself and I recognise the noise you can hear shortly at 20:23 For me that noise has made this mixer impossible to use. It builds up to significant levels if you add a couple of inputs to an output, regardless of what is plugged into it. Hasn't that bothered you while using this mixer?
@@grizzliesa9853 Unfortunately not. I bought it at Thomann, they were kind enough to replace the unit for another. Same problem. Tried on different locations with different power sources. Always the same problem. So I returned the second unit as well and found an alternative setup.
Question on the matrix mixer on the midi side. Can you map the recalls to individual keys on a controller so you can play them or does it just trigger forward to the next one in sequence?
Thanks for the video. I would like to know if there’s any limitations in the case of sum of voltages or the impedance of the inputs sources. At the beginning you make mention attenuation but I am thinking about the case you sum a lot of input voltages routed to only one output. Is it possible to fry the destination module?
Very nice this matrix mixer. I guess it's especially useful if you're designing your own kind of Syntrx. I have a question however about what I saw in your rack: the Morphader from Befaco. It seems it has found its place in your rack, and I'm really curious when you expect to have a demo video about it?
Two VERY imortant questjons and thanks in advance: 1) atrenuators for connections: are they similar to SYNTRX i.e., 100%, 70%, 0%, or can go from %0 to 100%? In SYNTRX, because every module (lfo, adsr, vco vcf, etc) has a dedicated level control, 100, 70, 0 attenuation works but outside of SYNTRX, if the Matrix Mixer attenuators dont go from %0 to %100 then that bacially useless for eurorack modules (assume sending 100% LFO from an LFO, e.g., -10volts to +10volts, to a filter cut off! Then i will need external attenuators for every connection outside of the Matrix Mixer, and then the whole idea of dynamic preset and patching is ruined! 2) is this mountable into eurorack? 6U maybe? Thanks!
Hi! The attenuation works in 4 stages. 100% full signal, 70%, 30% and 0% (off) It's not the same as continuous control of course, but surprisingly useful. I found myself selecting attenuation levels to great effect. When finer control is needed you can patch an attenuator after the Matrix output you need to attenuate, but it certainly isn't needed for every output! No rack, it's a desktop unit with jacks in the back, dedicated power, etc. It's not 6U, closer to about 5U. Cheers!
Never listened to your channel before but you sound like you explain things in the way that I like. But please please don't make another video with a dry mouth.
@@QuincasMoreira I'm sure you did and I feel bad for mentioning it but I wasn't sure if it was a feature of the channel or not, so I had to. Please don't drink 15 gallons of water before your next one or you might die of an O2 OD.

A year later the MTX-8 solved it by just making the surface dry earser friendly

@@QuincasMoreira Thanks for the reply. That's great news. If you do more experimenting please let me know how it works out.

Interesting idea
Very cool and helpful!
as is the Morph always!
Hi there. A year later, how do you honestly feel about this mixer? Pros and cons in your experience? Anything you would change?

just back and forth!

It's not possible to damage things in Eurorack with signals. Outputs cannot supply power.
@@rarelycomments Sorry I am not agree
@ It's just a mixer, signals that are too hot will just get clipped, as with any mixer! Cheers :)

There should be a video coming out within the next month!
I like that it’s desktop so that it’s portable and does not take up rack space

Are you moroccan?
No, Brazillian

Missed opportunity to add gate input for changing presets...
You can use MIDI program change
