To be fair, the BMP-2 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle but since War Thunder doesn't have that designation, it's classed as a Light Tank in the game. The cannon was designed to attack light armour and infantry, the 8.0 BR is because of the combo of autocannon and ATGM launcher.

If the tank breaks down it's because parts where overused or not correctly mainted. Thats not the players fault, so mechanical breakdowns serve no purpose in the game which is just about tanks fighting other tanks in a set location.

Or would you rather they remove the disable map function so that you can shoehorn everyone into your snipefests?
I'm grinding 8.3 russian bias, every match i last twice as longer when i get in the BMP2, its so versatile that it gets most of the kills. The additional armor is not that great because you will be even slowe than most mbts. Great video as always.
Das Satisfan I still kick butt in the BMP-2. That 30mm absolutely shreds Leopards, M60’s, OF-40, and whatever else you can toss at it. Still effective against Abrams and Leopard 2A5 in my experience. But soon I’ll have BMP-2M which should be way better since it has thermals and better ATGM.

Maybe you will like it edit: Imo Gaijin also needs to buff Bradleys AP belts because not only it fires super slow, but pen cant do much to russian sidearmor... IFVs need to get rebalanced rn
Das Satisfan The real problem I have with the BMP-2 at 9.0-10.7 is just that I can’t fire ATGM on the move. BMP-2M will fix that and will also be a nice replacement for the T-34-85 I have in my lineup. (My 9.7 Lineup is T-64A, T-62, Shilka, BMP-2, T-55A, T-34/85, and T-64B)
Now I know you made a mistake with 550 rounds/sec but it got me thinking and it turns out the BMP-2 would be spitting out around 300 kg of burst mass per second which is basically a lead laser. Plus it would melt the cannon breach in under half a second.
REX ! Not all AA guns are good against armor. This may have applied too ww2 but only really becase those high velocity guns existed when the need for bigger calibers came up . This reduced the need for development of new guns. The german flak 38 105mm for example had less penetration than the pak 40 (75mm) anti tank gun despite being a much bigger caliber. Some aa guns were allready good at guns. Some were not.
TFW Bmp-2 is lower BR than Begleitpanzer but is better in every single possible way, the balance is real ))) Not to mention that it bounces HEAT-FS quite often, and frequently bounces APFSDS

begleitpanzer has a better gun in most ways (more penetration (in both stock and final round) and proxy fuses for air targets), its missile is much faster (better at long range) and has better penetration (edit: faster and better pen, how is that worse?), and gets 2 more missiles which = 2more potential kills before needing to get on a cap to get more. and they are only 0.3 BR difference. they have similar mobility (the same power to weight ratio), the BMP gets a faster gun (almost too fast) with only slightly more AP ammo (which doesn't last as long) its hardly 'better in every single possible way'
@@matthiuskoenig3378 The gun in Begleitpanzer is really really bad. Your better penetration does not give you anything, because you fight vehicles with much better armor. BMP-2 mostly fights Leopards and has no problem penning them at any angle. Idk if you have played Begleit, but it's shells have massive drag and shooting above 500 meters already requires rangefinder/elevating gun really high so you cant even see your target. Not to mention you do not have stabilizer and after every shot your gun has massive recoil, so you need to wait 2-3 seconds between each shot before making a correction to your aim or shooting again. I-TOW is quite faster than 9M113, but it has less explosive mass and one-shots do not happen quite as often. And well, who cares about proxy fuses, your gun is not stabilized , has worse elevation and worse rotation speed and with it's recoil shooting aircraft is based on luck or it going straight in front of you. I pretty much never see begleits shooting down aircraft but I see at least 2 being shot down by bmp-2 every game, since it has much better firing rate and can actually keep up with aircraft with it's turret rotation. And sadly this mere 0.3 BR may sound insignificant, but it means you can get uptiered facing 9.3 tanks which happens almost every time and at that BR your I-TOW is quite obsolete and your gun is literally useless
The thing i believe should be TRULY SPOKEN ABOUT: BMPs have THE WEAKEST ARMOR, but have THE BIGGEST JOKE of hullbreak RNG rigging EVER. BMPs will NOT hullbreak when hit by HE and HEAT-FS of anything bellow 120/125mm guns (120 and above WITH HEAT-FS is a staple only found in the 9.0 and above area, same for 125mm), the can RICOCHET APDSFS and LARGE AP(AND APHE) that's 3-5 times the damn thickness of the plate affected even as it meets THE FLATEST ANGLE POSSIBLE of it... I would say this shit is absolutely biased when it comes to hullbreak as a Centauro gets hullbroken BY ANY APDSFS or even HEAT-FS of 105 and up (and take that Centauros HAVE all plates THICKER than any of the BMPs). I don't have the WILLINGNESS to support such BIAS on a TT vehicle. This issue with hullbreak RNG being rigged in its favour SHOULD BE PUT to discussion
This has ended up being my favorite tank in the game. I play a lot of arcade so ot definitely makes shooting down enemy planes a lot easisr, as well as finding weakspots for the 30mm. Of course, i die a lot as well lol. Either way, it's the first tank I aced with research alone. This thing is a blast.
Pretty realistic. In modern warfare, infantry and support vehicles are actually expected to destroy more tanks than, well, tanks. That's why specially designed tank destroyers are no use today and almost died as class.
Kinda have to remember 30mm rounds are anti-armor. They use it on the GAU-8 Weapons Systems and 30 mm Bushmaster II Mark 46 Machine gun platforms on ships that are made to pen smaller armored boats like gunboats and armored speeders or even destroyers if the crewmen knows the enemy thin armor points. It's definitely surprising to see a BMP or a LAV going against a MBT and winning without a TOW or other kinds of Missile launching platforms but it is possible.
One of the better examples of the no ammor best ammor meta. If you shell is just a little off the tank will survive with full red crew and triturate you. Also if only driver or gunner get death you're death.
The side skirts on German tanks were specifically made to counter Soviet Anti-Tank rifles, PTRD-41's and PTRS. Which fired a 14.5mm cermet core bullet which could penetrate 35-40mm of armor. So the germans put on side skirts so the bullet would not have enough momentum to push through the actual side armor after passing through the added side armor.
@@o_crumbs It helps alot at angles, you wont be able to fire a shot FLAT on the side armor very often. Because the tank is usually on the move and front facing in your general direction. So if you hit the side skirt at an angle the bullet will be too deformed to penetrate further after passing through the skirt and just bounce off the actual side armor. Or, the skirt might detonate the explosive inside the 14.5mm bullet, which will yield no penetration on the actual armor.
The bmps are one hell of a shitfest bouncing 165mm hesh shells which shouldnt bounce in the first place and even surviving their explosion without getting hullbroke sometimes

BMP-2 and all other BMPs are classified as IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) so they are not even made to fight tanks, though they have ATGMs just in case
I think it's very impressive they were able to make a 30 mm penetrate 100 or so millimeters of armor basically it could penetrate a tiger tank... the bmp would have been a very dominating vehicle with just the 30mm in World War II
It was dead on... except for the subjective commentary about both versions of smoke and night vision. Regarding night vision at that BR, it is absolutely better than the nothing you have until researched. While still at a large disadvantage vs thermal systems at night, it's a damn sight better than wallowing around the map nearly blind (unless you're the sort that cheeses your gamma, in which case it's already a non-issue).
Yeah BMP-2 is great, but I hate it when people use it to spawn camp because its very easy to do with the BMP-2 because of its ATGM and its ability to penetrate side armor.

Counter* canceling would mean they don't try. And when they die and don't have enough points for a plane they are bound to pick up the autocannon r3 to come at your ligh vehicle for vengance.
I checked everywhere couldn’t find the answer for almost a year... I hope someone knows the answer here. When I’m firing with the cannon, zoomed in, I cannot see the target because of the gun smoke 💨 it’s not clear like in this videos... it’s not about the bullets I used HVAP or AP didn’t change... what can be the problem??? Is it because I’m playing with PS4? Or do I have to do change something on Options menu?? Because of that after first bullet I start fire random and guy turns around and shoots me.. This is where the bias starts getting silly. IRL everyone that has encountered a BMP in the field describes them as death traps. And these vehicles have not fared well in real contact. It reminds you that this is very much a video game and has little basis in reality. The context of the vehicle is lost as well since it and vehicles like it were made primarily to be APCs. Since there is no infantry in the game their real purpose is lost.

I have talked to plenty of soldiers that have fought against it and very few of them describe it as a death trap (and the game already gave it thin armour). "And these vehicles have not fared well in real contact."- yes and no. they got far more tank kills then tanks on their side did, and they proved a pain for infantry in many fights. its not the best but its not as bad as your bias tries to make it out to be. (also crews are the biggest cause of success or failure of a design in combat, and typically they have bad crews IRL) while the game may (or may not) be biased, you certainly are. (and a game should balance based on how good a vehicle is, hence a 'bad' vehicle should be paired against stuff that are just as bad or from an earrlier erra, or are you seriously sugesting only 'historical matchups)
hell Isreal maintians a large fleet of BMP-2s despite haveing many opportunities to replace them, they certainly respect the design (even if some arm chair general such as yourself doesn't)

When a mine strikes it, which every nation outside nato employs, the whole crew including the passengers die because its low ground clearance transfers all the force of said mine into the crew compartment. If it is struck by a RPG, it and the whole crew die. If it is hit by a high caliber auto cannon it, and it's crew die. It's ability to ford rivers is only contextually valuable. It is comparatively crudely constructed and antiquated compared to it's nato counterparts and none of the nations who employ it do so in meaningful quantity, nor do they properly maintain them. The cannons anti tank ability is dubious, and the only instance of one ever having successfully struck a nato vehicle was in the first gulf war where it struck a Bradley which is not exactly a well armored target. And even then only managed to kill the commander. The rest of the crew survived. The offending BMP did not. You can be a soviet weeaboo all you want, but their vehicles have not made a good showing of their selves outside of video games made and operated by Russians. And if that is bias then so be it.

BMP-2 and all other BMPs are classified as IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) so they are not even made to fight tanks, though they have ATGMs just in case
it not an light tank, it s an armored transport vehicle, that can suport the infantry
I think it's very impressive they were able to make a 30 mm penetrate 100 or so millimeters of armor basically it could penetrate a tiger tank... the bmp would have been a very dominating vehicle with just the 30mm in World War II
The main issue with this vehicles is "remotely controled ATGM launcher".
this tank is alot better uptiered where everyone is using apfsds and you noticably always have it go straight through damaging 1 module at a time

i wondered...when they gonna introduce BMPT-72 (considering it also using 30mm cannon same as BMP-2) will it get better pen ammo or the same as BMP-2?
APDS shells for the soviet 30mm was introduced with one of the early BMP-3 varients

It was dead on... except for the subjective commentary about both versions of smoke and night vision. Regarding night vision at that BR, it is absolutely better than the nothing you have until researched. While still at a large disadvantage vs thermal systems at night, it's a damn sight better than wallowing around the map nearly blind (unless you're the sort that cheeses your gamma, in which case it's already a non-issue).
low tier night is so fun. just run around with your head cut off, no one can see you.

Yeah BMP-2 is great, but I hate it when people use it to spawn camp because its very easy to do with the BMP-2 because of its ATGM and its ability to penetrate side armor.
I haven't unlocked the best ammo yet, but so far I prefer the bmp-1

Wrong. BMP-2 is not a light tank. BMP - БМП, which means Б - combat М - machine П - infantry. In English, it may sound different but I think you understand what is meant.

Counter* canceling would mean they don't try. And when they die and don't have enough points for a plane they are bound to pick up the autocannon r3 to come at your ligh vehicle for vengance.
I checked everywhere couldn’t find the answer for almost a year... I hope someone knows the answer here. When I’m firing with the cannon, zoomed in, I cannot see the target because of the gun smoke 💨 it’s not clear like in this videos... it’s not about the bullets I used HVAP or AP didn’t change... what can be the problem??? Is it because I’m playing with PS4? Or do I have to do change something on Options menu?? Because of that after first bullet I start fire random and guy turns around and shoots me.. It’s really frustrating... pls I’m begging for an answer

This is where the bias starts getting silly. IRL everyone that has encountered a BMP in the field describes them as death traps. And these vehicles have not fared well in real contact. It reminds you that this is very much a video game and has little basis in reality. The context of the vehicle is lost as well since it and vehicles like it were made primarily to be APCs. Since there is no infantry in the game their real purpose is lost.

wtf are you on about? I have talked to plenty of soldiers that have fought against it and very few of them describe it as a death trap (and the game already gave it thin armour).
"And these vehicles have not fared well in real contact."- yes and no. they got far more tank kills then tanks on their side did, and they proved a pain for infantry in many fights. its not the best but its not as bad as your bias tries to make it out to be. (also crews are the biggest cause of success or failure of a design in combat, and typically they have bad crews IRL)
while the game may (or may not) be biased, you certainly are.
(and a game should balance based on how good a vehicle is, hence a 'bad' vehicle should be paired against stuff that are just as bad or from an earrlier erra, or are you seriously sugesting only 'historical matchups)
hell Isreal maintians a large fleet of BMP-2s despite haveing many opportunities to replace them, they certainly respect the design (even if some arm chair general such as yourself doesn't)
@@matthiuskoenig3378 It's low profile is not an asset, it is a liability. When a mine strikes it, which every nation outside nato employs, the whole crew including the passengers die because its low ground clearance transfers all the force of said mine into the crew compartment.
If it is struck by a RPG, it and the whole crew die. If it is hit by a high caliber auto cannon it, and it's crew die.
It's ability to ford rivers is only contextually valuable.
It is comparatively crudely constructed and antiquated compared to it's nato counterparts and none of the nations who employ it do so in meaningful quantity, nor do they properly maintain them.
The cannons anti tank ability is dubious, and the only instance of one ever having successfully struck a nato vehicle was in the first gulf war where it struck a Bradley which is not exactly a well armored target. And even then only managed to kill the commander. The rest of the crew survived. The offending BMP did not.
You can be a soviet weeaboo all you want, but their vehicles have not made a good showing of their selves outside of video games made and operated by Russians. And if that is bias then so be it.
