Someone already mentioned that the Black Mages was doing metal covers of Final Fantasy songs, what was not mentioned is that the band the Black Mages was created by Nobuo Uematsu, the guy who made OST for Final Fantasy Series for long long years and all the songs that this band covers are his own songs, the songs he composed for the Final Fantasy franchise. You could basically say, he made the band to cover his own songs into metal. This song comes from the second album on which you can also find an original song by Nobuo Uematsu which is not part of the Final Fantasy franchise. Also this album only has 2 vocal songs, this one and Otherworld also from Final Fantasy X.

The Black Mages are awesome! They are mostly instrumental songs, all metal versions of Final Fantasy songs by Nobuo Umatsu, the original composer of the FF I-X. I think he plays the keyboards on these albums.
If you have played Final Fantasy X before the opening and ending of this song should sound similar since it's the song To Zanarkand which the game opens with. The Black Mages only ever did remixes and re-imaginings of Final Fantasy songs so if you have played any of the first 10 games a lot of the songs would be familiar.
