*I proved my point: Subscribers and views are a result of Promotions & Marketing, not content. And why this channel insists on being purposefully small*
Thank you - and it will remain this way. Though I have to pause all promotions now and I have no idea what to do with all the new subscribers who will probably want gear videos. If you read my response to Poppie below, you'll see where the channel is going. Places. For pictures.
About 90% of photo channels now are infomercials. Some of them (quite famous too) are not even operated by photographers - they have other channels selling other things too!
I printed some photos a while back with different settings. Something I discovered is that when viewing a print it will look brighter if viewed in direct sun vs in your living room at night. I know that sounds very obvious but it raises the issue of the need to know where a print will be viewed especially if being framed and hung on the wall. Will it be in your brightly sun lit family room or in your dimly lit lounge room. I do remember a particular photographer saying he exposes his prints based on knowing the lighting conditions the wall hung print will be viewed in. It makes sense because I have a big 4 print framed collage of my late doggy hanging on my lounge wall, a deliberately very dimly lit room, day and night. The prints look good if I take it into the well lit family room but a few stops too dark in the lounge room.
These are things I've said in past videos, including the color temperature of the room - see time point 13.59 in video ruclips.net/video/qgihmWfrHUY/видео.html I will repeat these things in the new video, including very easy to understand quick methods to make prints that will look good in all environments.
I just wanted to prove a point by running a 4-day tiny campaign (only 12 videos, small amounts, 4 days) to prove the point that channels do not grow because of content or quality, but by paid promotions. My channel is not designed for large audiences, never pursued it, it's mostly self-demonetized anyway.
@@CameraMystique It's still a good channel, friend. Otherwise the CC guy would not even had reccomended you. The real question is did he get to know your channel because of your promotion or before? That's difficult to disentangle if we don't know the order of factors involved.
He mentioned me way back in June 2024, and I was a little surprised because his channel is not about photography or videography (it's about vlogging). My technical videos on micro-contrast, dimensional rendering (and associated techniques) etc. are, to this day, the top on RUclips (I have an entire Playlist on the topic, plus more technical details in the "lenses" Playlist), based on the actual manufacturer literature, and not on lonesome speculations or looney tune theories. But this channel is mostly demonetized, fully non-commercial, and doesn't wish many subscribers, only those who are really into the photographic art (taking good pictures, well-balancing the colors, and printing them). I have dozens of subscribers who have written in the comments that I solved their problems in terms of WB, color-balancing and good prints and more efficient practices, without the hassle of complex techniques. *Channels with my type of content (actual photographic application possible for everyone + possible art) do not usually have many subscribers. The reason I made the 4-day promotion was to prove that channels with many subscribers rise because of promotions, not because of content quality.* In the hypothetical scenario that RUclips forced a $2 subscription on every channel, all those channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers would end up with absolute zero (0). Because they're not useful to the practical application of photography. On the other hand, there are some channels that are small, but useful, and they would keep dozens (if not hundreds) of subscribers, because they show to people how to take good pictures and make good prints without spending a fortune.
I am absolutely sure you are not a bot, because of your comment in the "Ninth Window". Yes, I had to speed up the pics and the poem or it wouldn't align with the music as I wanted. A friend from the West Coast told me that I should instead split the screen, poem populating on the left side while photos changing on the right side. But 1/3 of viewers use iPhones... (for content optimized for at least a 17" screen). It's a poem about a meeting that never happened out of fear it would fail. The notes at 1.01" are from a real song. The poem was for another person (who received it, and stayed silent about it, just as the poem predicted in the forged name of the movie theater: "lots to see, nothing to say" - silentium est aureum).

I'm glad I found your channel! It has a lot of useful information that I have not seen anywhere else. Thanks a lot! 🙏
Thank you!
Thank you for the time and effort making this channel, I learned a lot! Really. Greetings from Argentina
Your videos offer a balanced blend of critical thinking and novel content. Great job. Have a happy New Year.
I love this channel just the way it is 😊

Me too!
Thank you.
RUclips really proves the adage if the product is free you're the product

I started watching your channel when i got tired of the "Angry photographer" sitting in his basement constantly telling everyone how "smart" he is.
One of my favourite channels on things photography.

Maybe the recent Camera Conspiracies shout-out helped you out a bit.
I know I suscribed after I learned about it there.

@@EduardoPortasRuiz The promotion lasted December 24th to December 28th 2024. That's it, 4 days.
@@CameraMystique If it's any use, I learned about your channel before that period. The CC guy recommended we check your content at least a month back.
